Lovely trail with a few options to go harder or stay easy. Definitely the on the Easy side of Moderate. Saw lots of wildlife (lots of birds, a few deer).

Fairly easy for a moderate trail but some very cool views along the way

Loved this trail - will def do it again! Saw a young buck. Great views of Red Rocks going up and Denver coming down! Most of the elevation gain is near the beginning of the trail within the first mile. Very enjoyable hike. Lots of traffic though - people, horses, and then bikers on the Castle Trail.

This was a great, short hike just far enough away from the city to get great views. My out of shape dog was able to handle this one nicely.

Hiked here on 6/2; very pretty trail and beautiful day. So many wildflowers!! First part was steep for a bit but then leveled out, but overall pretty easy hike! Parking was limited, we got there around 11am though.

The view at the top is nice but I'm not sure it's worth having to listen to the highway, consistently moving out of the way for mountain bikers, and being very hot because there is no shade.

a nice easy hike. it was pretty and not too many people as soon as you leave the open space at the bottom. lots of uphill. a nice hike for when you just wanna get out for a little while and exercise, you can pretty much do it at any point during the daytime since it's pretty short.

A little crowded, but not really that bad. Beautiful views. 5/28 two rattle snakes seen on the trail in separate areas, but they were babies. Surprising given the amount of traffic.

Great morning hike just a short drive from Denver. We attempted to do the Legault Mountain trail and found the paths a bit confusing on how to combine Legacy with Aspen to make that happen. Either way, great shady path and nice loop.

Good beginner

Nice and easy trail for a short hike day...flowers around and dry trail. Busy during the week ends, even nicer during the week days.

great views

I parked in the community and had my car towed! There are plenty of other trails that are not private. You need a tag to park in the neighborhood or the trail head and it's not worth getting towed.

Easy and fun hike with beautiful views of Red Rocks. Not far outside of Denver, so it's easily accessible. However, the parking lot is small so it may fill up on weekends. Trail is rocky and muddy at times, but easily worth it. Highly recommended if you want a 1-2 hour hike.

Loved it!

My dog loves playing in the creek. Very easy to move on. Can get crowded in the summer and on weekends

great hike. Saw some deer. Cool ruins. Hikers, horses and mountain bikes

First time hiking a moderate trail. I arrived about 8:30am on a Saturday when I left around 10:15am the parking lot was full and people where parking along the road.

I am still a new hiker so I had to stop multiple times up the incline and was passed by a few people 10-15 years older than me haha .. but it's a fun challenging hike .. I even saw a few deer..

Popular trail! Mountain bikes are welcome on the Castle Trail portion. Still muddy in some parts but no traction devices needed. Dynamic views of city/mountainside. Nice for a quick hike or trail run.

Great views! Preferred doing this section uphill and turkey trot downhill

Icy and muddy still in some parts but overall good views!

Lots of bikes, but the trail is more than wide enough for bikes and people. Not a peaceful hike if there’s a motocross race going on across the road.

Iced in spots this time of year. I could have used spikes through one part. Parking is a premium. Good trail, good view of Denver, lots of hikers to say hi to.

Decent hike during the winter. Drainage could be better as I was hiking on a lot of snow/mud. I suggest starting off with the Turkey Trot Trail...actually avoid the lower half of castle trail altogether...I'd just go back down Turkey Trail if you make it back at the merger. The lower half of Castle Trail that can be avoided by taking Turkey Trail and it is extremely muddy (I'm still finding a ton of sand on my dog's fur) and you have lots of less visible areas/turns if bikers come crashing through.

I kept going after it merged up with castle trail again and ended up at two dog trail and summer white house site. I'd say if you are going to choose go with Summer White House as the skyline view from two dog trail was ok.

I'm just glad construction really never started on the summer white house as Colorado would be even more crowed and that POS drump might actually come to Colorado and does the President really need a castle?

This was a great hike- BUT- be warned! It doesn’t have a huge vertical but it happens quickly (you are basically climbing straight up the Green Mountain). It was too much for our low-energy dog, who needed to take breaks several times going up (we didn’t mind because we needed them, too!). I went on a weekday when it was 60 degrees, so it was crowded but not terribly so. The bikers were respectful, as were other people hiking with or without dogs. The trail is big enough for everyone to share the space. The views were gorgeous!! Especially on a day with a clear blue sky.

Nice alternate to the Castle Trail.

This trail has been taken over by bikers. Even though the ordinance by Lakewood Regional Parks requires bikers to yield to walkers and hikers, that is not the reality. Parks should change this park’s rules or tell bikers to change or leave.
