Nice easy well used trail. Plenty of other hikers, bikers, horses and dogs. Trail goes right past Monument Rock. It would have difficult to follow the trail without Alltrails app

Ahh today no dogs on this trail.

Nice long hike with some ups and downs. Make sure you have gps - only way to follow the trail silence there are a lot of unmarked trails on this mountain. Struggled to find the Flow Dog trail after splitting off from 715 so we ended up using the dirt road back to the parking lot.

Really enjoyed this hike the views where absolutely stunning!

This hike was worth while. Although there is not a look out, I still can appreciate the beauty of this trail. I carried my 30 pound toddler and would NOT do it again. It was very tough as this trail goes up and down, up and down. If you are thinking of hiking in this area, I would hike Mt. Herman Peak instead! Here you at least get a look out. It’s not as long, and it’s worth more the pain than this trail.

85 degrees mild weather but 70% shade helped me from overheat. I was going to give 5 stars but changed my mind to 4 because the map was messed up. There was no way to get on Flow Dog trail after I got on trail 715. I had to go around and use alternate trail but I made it back. Not crowded at all, maybe ran into 6 bikers and 5 hikers all total during my 3.5 hour hike. Beautiful wild flowers, I enjoyed the view so much. Have fun!

Great trail. Used the app map several times as there are a lot of side trails.

The trail offers gorgeous views however it has several problems: it is mostly exposed to the sun, very little shade along the way. We have two black dogs and one of them almost got heat stroke. It doesn’t help that dogs are not allowed to in the lakes. Also, the trail is not well marked. We got lucky because we were recording the hike within this app. At the very end there is a hard left that leads to the final climb to the top and end of the hike. Without following the trail on the app we could have missed it. It was beautiful, but pack a lot more water than you think you’ll need, especially if you have dogs.

I don’t know if I didn’t go far enough or wasn’t in the right place but followed the trail and the view at the top was not worth the effort. Also dogs can use this trail but can not go in the water. Not a good trail if you dog as sensitive feet. Very rocky with loose gravel.

this trail can lead to many different ones

Dirt road to trailhead, went in a compact sedan and made it — slowly. There is a huge trail system here and this particular route was just okay. Yesterday there was a bit of snow on the trail but no extra traction devices were needed. Where the trail ends on the all trails map above is in the middle of a trail with no view or lookout to speak of. Luckily we met a nice gentleman who told us to continue straight take a right on the dirt road, then take the first trail off to the left and explore around the boulders on Chautauqua peak. The views were alright nothing out-of-this-world.

The trail cuts through a meadow/Gulch which I’m sure would be amazing in the summer with all the wildflowers. That is when I would recommend completing this trail. I likely would not return in the winter.

We really enjoyed this trail. Also glad we brought the 4 wheel drive vehicle for the road to the trail head. It’s a steady up or down trail, not much flat. Today there was still some ice and snow on the trail. We met only one other person on the trail.

The lion-share of this hike is an uphill service road. Pretty hard on two kids. The pay-off is gorgeous but I wish there was a more interesting, less drastic uphill, to get there. Will go again in the summer, using a different trail, to see the lake.

The trail runs on a gravel road for most of the hike but then becomes a narrow trail towards the top. Along the trail there are Spruce, Fir, Pine, and Aspen trees and at the top you will get good views of the surrounding mountains and Palmer Lake. Trail 360 on YouTube

We did the entire trail until we got to the "balanced rock" at the top of rhe hill. We recorded a total of 7.5 miles for the loop. Beautiful hike

great little hike with a nice view at the end! will definitely do this hike again.

Nice quick trail. Southern Colorado geology is amazing, so it was worth the trip.

Quite beautiful this time of year!

I really liked this hike, great views with lots of wild flowers. The trail was not marked very clear with a specific trail title at the beginning. Some areas of the trail not clearly marked, that could get some one lost on the way back. I use a Garmin watch with bread crumbs tracking on all of my hikes and trail runs to keep from getting off the trail and lost on out and back trails. Over all beautifull hike I will defiantly do again. Very secluded not a lot of foot traffic. I carry bear spray, just used common sense. Great Hike I would include in my Colorado Springs area top 10.

found some wild raspberries

Good trails, easy terrain, poorly marked trail markers and a lot of unmarked sub trails

hiked this today, not "easy" as in an easy hike, but easy trail to walk on. it starts with all uphill for a little over a mile. Not a good first hike for newbs. Overall great hike with beautiful lakes and wildflowers.

Smells like piss the whole way and has real nice graffiti. Other than that it's real nice.

Nice long loop. Started at Mt Herman TH therefore 1st 3/4 of loop was well wooded and quite enjoyable. Walking up the road the final 1/4 was less so. Lots of crossing trails along the way so have a good map or follow all-trails track closely.

Gorgeous. Worth the Effort. Look for the Reservoir Trailhead, as it's not called Balanced Rock. The first mile is tough and steep. A great trail run.

Amazing trail but do be careful. Saw a momma and not so baby bear in the aspen grove across the bridge once you're south of the whole resevoir. timid browns that scattered quickly but keep an eye and ear out.
