Great trail for my tribe. Made it halfway up and thunderstorms rolled in. We had ponchos but turned back due to lightning. I’d love to finish this trail.

It was a beautiful trail but about 3 miles in the trail became very muddy with trees down. We were unable to continue because of a very large tree that our horses could not get over and there was no clear way around it. I was disappointed because I had heard that there was a beautiful meadow with great views to see. It would be an excellent hiking trail but not so much for horses.

good trail if you want to see two smaller lake hard too get too on the road but beautiful scenery and lots of edible plants (chock cherry and such).

Wonderful hike! The lake is beautiful. This trail is actually 12 miles round trip and goes to Cherry Lk, not Peanut Lk.

Best hot springs in the state. Clothing optional. Definitely don’t go w out a reservation. Pools at the top are a steep uphill hike w beautiful views and warm pools at the end. Several pools to enjoy around the property. The hike to the bat cave should be listed on here- it is only slightly challenging at the end and so worth the trip. Along the way are foundations and pieces of the orient iron mine that operated over 60 years ago.

This is misleading. There are miles and miles of trails at VVHS, not to mention off-trail possibilities.

The hike to the bat-cave is a must do if you are there July/August time frame to see the bat out flight at dusk.

This place is a true gem. It’s worth staying for a weekend!

Wonderful hike. The dogs seemed to enjoy it. Beautiful lake. Wish I brought the fishing gear.

Awesome hike! There's a few downed trees on the path, but I'd like to think that adds a little spice to the trail.

Our three year old needed very little assistance (mostly crossing the bridges) the first 1/4 mile goes through private property so stick to the trail(and lock gates where posted) The trail winds through beautiful lush forest and follows a small creek (mostly run off I believe) I highly suggest it to anyone with kids. No biking! but horseback is allowed and would be so fun there.

We attempted this hike today. However, the trailhead is impossible to reach with our Subaru. The normal dirt road quickly turned to a Jeep road. It was impassible for our vehicle. Do not plan on doing this hike without a high clearance off road vehicle.

I can't really rate this trail since we couldn't make it all the way, it's our fault for renting a Toyota Camry to drive out into the mountains with haha
Definitely will need a truck or something higher up from the ground. There were a lot of rocks in the road closer to the mountain

The road is accessible, the trail is pretty well capped, it's a steady incline to the top, all-around great Sangre hike

Trail was short, but nice views and the hot spring at the top was very natural and beautiful.

Nice view over the San Luis valley, hiked this before a drive in the Bonanza area (Jeep trails).
