Extremely easy walk.
Bring your bug spray and sunscreen.

Very easy walk.
Beautiful scenery.
Be ready for LOTS of bugs during the summer.

Great Trail! Aspens are just starting to turn yellow. Only saw probably 10 people. Virtually zero mosquitoes for us. Gorgeous views. Trail head was easy to access. Took us about 1h45m with stopping and having a snack at Lost Lake. Highly recommend

This makes for a lovely walk on snowshoes. You can rent them from the lodge, if they are open. It's super quiet in the winter, for the most part.

My kids 7-16 and I hiked this trail about 3 weeks ago. The trail was great but the mosquitoes almost carried us away!

Easy to follow trail to a beautiful destination.

Phenomenal discoveries around every bend.

Not the most technical trail but the views are hard to beat! Great way to beat the heat in the summer as well when it's 100+ in Grand Junction.

Nice little hike. The mosquitos were out in full force though. Waded into the lake at the end to cool off a bit. We ended parking near the shoreline trail because parking wasn’t clear for this trail, then walked over to meet up with Lost Lake trail. Overall enjoyable!

Beautiful short hike. Bug spray is highly recommended.

Loved this hike! We missed the turn off to go up to lost lake and ended up walking the perimeter of south Mesa lake before we realized. Also beautiful! We eventually walked back and found the correct trail to get up there. Was pretty easy. Has a few places to stop off to rest on the way up. We went last September and the trees were all yellow! Definitely recommend around that time.

Wonder views and a very scenic drive. Wanted to hike a few trails but snow is still covering the trails that I wanted to hike

Fun little trail, good for taking friends from out of state that aren't ready for the harder trails. Beautiful photo opportunities. We went around the very end of March and the wild horses weren't only beautiful but ready to foal soon by the looks of it.

This is the type of trip where you shouldn't be in a hurry. The wind can be a major factor.

Our family loves this drive. We live in the valley and enjoy driving this route periodically during the year, unique beauty with every season.

We rode this in October of 2017 with two friends on large adventure motorcycles. Mine is a BMW R1200 GS. We asked about the road on advrider.com, where a few guys said it was totally doable on our bikes. Which it was. There had been a snowstorm two days earlier, but it had all melted, and the road was slightly muddy, but solid. it got a little sketchy at the very top, but nothing we couldn't power through. I would say that if you are moderately experienced on big adv bike, stand on the pegs, and are comfortable counter-balancing as you go through those hairpins, you'll have no problem. If you're someone who sits and doesn't get what I just said about standing and counter-balancing, this is going to be too much for you, unless it is super dry. The views are fantastic. The biggest issue was, as a first-timer on the road, not knowing exactly what we were going to encounter. At the lower elevations, everything was easy-peezy, but as I said, at the top, things get a little sketchy (the road narrows, and its colder, so some of the snow remained, and there was more mud), and it's not like you are going to want to turn around, head back down and do a 60-mile detour to get back on your track. Funny, at the top there's an observatory, but we were so geeked about getting to the top that we skipped it. Also, the top is paved for a few miles along the edge of the mesa. Then it turns in and turns back to dirt, and yo basically just cruise till you connect back up with the main highway across the mesa.

Just a breathtaking, peaceful hike. Very little traffic. Bring your fishing pole cause the trout are jumping.

Pretty, but it shouldn't be rated as moderate. Very easy.

Super easy and fun hike. I was in the shade the whole time, it's not to steep. It's great for kids and dogs, and if you feel like bringing a fishing rod I saw some jumping around.

Nice hike. Great scenery and nice views of the lake. Bring bug spray!

Beautiful and easy.

Easy walking trail; but lots of mosquitoes this time of year. As long as we were in the sun they were tolerable. I suggest walking at a quick pace or light jog while in the shaded areas. They didn't seem to be impressed with bug spray. Other than that, it was a beautiful scenic walk! And skinny dipping in the Lost Lake was worth it!

A fun way to get up on the Mesa and see a different side as well. Good hiking trails on the way up too.
