I thought this was one of the prettiest hikes we have done to date outside of Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole Grand Tetons. Beautiful vista , snow capped mountains. Pretty water and wildflowers. You come into a meadow and I felt like singing the Hills are Alive from the Sound of Music. Parking is ample and we passed 2 bathrooms on it. All good. The parking lot was full at 10:30 but it was also a sat morning and Memorial Day weekend. We made do on the side of the road. We started at 10:30 and got down around 1:30 or 2.

Moderately crowded, but there are enough turn offs that overcrowding was not an issue. My son loved the scenery.

5/22 Nice little hike. Reservoir is very pretty, spring flowers, water fall and greenery. Super easy - good hike to acclimate to altitude. Only gave it a two due to some of the hike is really a dirt road. I will do this hike again with peeps from TX.

Smelled like spring! There are definitely a couple steep spots but there's plenty of easy to make up for the challenge too. We really enjoyed this trail.

It was so beautiful. My kids really enjoyed this trail!

A really fun and challenging trail, but not for the novice or faint of heart!! If you like to “air down” for a smoother ride, find a place in Raymond to pull off and do it. There is no room once you hit the trail. The climb begins almost immediately. Narrow, rocky, steep in parts with sheer drop-offs along some sections. This climb is “difficult” and only high clearance vehicles will make it. No room to pass oncoming vehicles until about half way up, so cross your fingers and hope you are the only one on that section! Once up top, the majority of the trails are “moderate”, although the road up to Miller Rock had large boulders, tree roots, and washed out sections to navigate. I would rate that trail as “difficult”, but fun for the right vehicles. Overall, the trails were in good condition with just a few areas of standing water no more than a foot deep. Not much mud or trail damage due to the recent rains. We spent a good 3 hours exploring all of the trails around Miller Rock and had lots of 4WD challenges along the way. Highly recommend!!

awesome trail for hiking, running and lots of biking.

Great hike with a variety of trails and many water features with the river, outlet from the dam, spillway and water fall. A real gem of an outing! Hike done on 5/12/18.

One for the books. Take a good human with you for a guaranteed good time. Not many people during the weekday. Water was really nice. Good snacks a must.

Beautiful hike! Good variety of terrain. A large portion of the loop allows dogs off leash. The trail has good shade about 1/4 of the time, On a hot day, this one might be rough - wear sunscreen.

A great trail to start the season. a great view of longs peak. very dog friendly.

This is an excellent hike to take your in shape flat-land visitors. The hike is moderate with only a few slightly steep areas to get the blood pumping. This hike offers plenty of shade and rewards with lots of wildflowers and amazing views.

Very pretty hike. Well maintained trail with lots of wild flowers. Good amount of parking spots

This trail has a lot of people on it. It is great for bikers and runners.

I hiked this trail with a 48lb vest... it was fairly easy. Probably a lot easier without the extra weight.... dogs are welcome on this trail!!

Great trail!! Pretty easy and dogs loved it!! Amazing views!! ❤️

Great hike, large portion of the hike allows for dogs to be off leash. Very pretty views of the lake as well. Make sure to plan extra time if you think you want to go to the lake, you have to climb up from the bottom of the dam to see the lake and its a bit of a hike!

Love this hike. Overall pretty easy with beautiful views. Plan some extra time to go to the lake and maybe take a lunch

Too many bikers on this trail. My GPS showed 14.6 miles and 1392 ft elevation gain.

Great trail for running.

No snow or ice. Half the trail is a dirt road but trail is very pretty and full of great views!
Do not have to pay to park.
Bathrooms at trailhead.
I’d rate this as moderate to difficult as there are some steep inclines. There’s a huge damn which is also really cool.

Nice hike.. Did a one night backpack, didn’t see any wildlife but there was plenty of sign surrounding meadow. Woke to a couple inches of fresh snow and fog around the peaks. Beautiful.

A favorite semi challenging trail.

Nice views on a hike pretty much anyone could do. Decent climb when you come off the fire road for a bit, eventually turns into a wide smooth path for the descent. Probably about half the hike is on wide, smooth dirt path, some of that is fire road. Good scenery and low traffic. Good amount of the trail is off leash for dogs. Tons of water features which adds a lot to the fire road parts.

Was really good minus people having their dogs off leash in non designated areas

Very moderate hike, fairly easy. No great views. The only plus was no bikers allowed. Took this to Nelson Loop and was about run down by bikers flying through. Predominant thought was meh, kind of boring.

Good view of the distant snow-strewn peaks and a reservoir. Wildflowers are starting to emerge now. Not a lot of scenery to look at unless you're at the very highest point of the trail, but besides that it was an easy trail with decent enough reward at the top. Very few people hiking on a Monday afternoon. Only passed two groups of people.

Once you get to the point on this trail where it turns into a road that heads back to the parking lot (clearly marked with a sign) and there's a building where the reservoir water flows out into a river, I'd also suggest heading up the 'Hummingbird Switchback Trail' that goes up to the Ralph Price Reservoir. It's short and you get a good view of the water, and can even follow a trail all the way around the lake if you want. From there you can take the road that goes around the reservoir a bit and also leads back to the parking lot.

Nice hike. Did this last September. Definitely on the easier side of Moderate. Nice and shady for most of the hike. The dam is awesome and a great place for lunch. Some nice views along the way as well.

Beautiful rugged hike. You start out the first half mile or so on a service road but it’s going along side the St Vrain creek, so the scenery is still beautiful. Also I’d say the last 1.5 miles of the loop are coming back down the service road, but again, still feels plenty secluded. We went on a Wednesday and hardly ran into anyone else and parking was not an issue. Once you take the trail (it’s on the left off the service road) it is pretty steadily inclining for a while. Gorgeous views of Longs Peak at the pinnacle. Would definitely do again!
