We live nearby, and I walk my dog here multiple times a week. Great dog park, easy trail with great views. Lots and lots of bikers, and right near housing but still a great place for a walk. You can either walk a mile loop or the full 3.3 miles.

Not good for hiking pretty boring scenery no cover. Pretty cute prairie dogs in the beginning

Great flat place to walk with a great view.

Flat, dog friendly. Not a lot of shade though so be gentle on your pupper.

on Coal Creek Trail

Fun trail for riding all-road or endurance bikes, but a little crowded with children and pets to safely bomb through. Still, a great local gravel trail for getting in a solid weekday ride - just take it a little slower and little more cautiously.

A couple nice sized bull snakes hangin around sunning themselves across the trail lately too...

Really nice ride overlooking green pastures with mountains in the background. Some of the ride is next to a stream and some is through cow fields. Nice variety!

Easy trail, good for after work walk and running

This is my 2-3 night per week exercise loop while the kids clean up dinner. It is very pretty and more of a neighborhood area. I add on some of the coal creek trail to make it an extra mile or so. Nice at sunset and sometimes you'll see coyotes.

Like most people have stated, this is an urban hike/walk. Flat land, well maintained wide trail. Quite a few dogs (adjacent to the dog park) and bikes. The dog owners are conscientious of picking up the dog byproducts so that is not an issue. Good view of the flatirons. Just went today so heat wasn’t an issue but due to the lack of trees (zero trees) I bet a hat and sunglasses are a must in the summer months. Regardless of the weather, it is always a good idea to bring plenty of water. Bottom line: Nice urban walk.

Great walking/jogging trail with great views. Can be a bit windy so dress for that.

Great flat walking trail with a terrific view of the mountains.

Great open well maintained trail on this huge hill with amazing views looking down on boulder and the flatirons and foothills. Trail starts right next to the dog park with a bunch of ways to loop around for shorter or longer routes. Not a lot of elevation change pretty flat the whole way. Had a kestrel following us tree to tree towards the end.

Loop not marked, got lost but still got 11+ miles on trail. nice trails, but if you're wanting to do the loop, take your map.

Overall great trail for a 14 mile run. Can get rocky at times but not too technical. Would recommend bug spray for marshy areas. Not much cover so it can get very hot.

Walk the pup here. No shade so best in the morning or evening.

First time walking this trail. I feel like it's better suited for bikers or horseback riders. The wide trail offers little ground cover; and it was HOT. Easy parking.

Good for a quick walk if you live close but don't make a special trip to check it out

Better for a light mountain bike than hiking. Pretty mellow but there is no shade. You do get pretty good views of the flatirons from the top.

Good trail, well maintained.

There was a couple of benches with good views, but there were too many that if you sat there you could think you were in Kansas. There was one tree I liked too.

I love this trail. it's long enough for a decent workout, but short enough to not kill me for the day. the prairie and the mountain view is gorgeous. easy parking and a dog park. generally flat walking space.

Very pretty and spacious place to take your doggies to play :) and around the dog park there are more trails that are neat to walk around on as well.
I definitely enjoy this place

Such a beautiful park! Very large off-leash dog area which is nice for the pups. Many trails spanning the area, very scenic and easy to get to. Plenty of parking

Easy, flat prairie loop with the wind rustling across the grasses, gorgeous view of the Flatirons, however, the hideous power lines disturb said view. Decent walk for when you're lacking more time to drive further.

Granted we're not bicyclists. My wife and I walked here and wanted to see something pretty and nature-oriented. Instead it's dirt and rock. One star for easy parking access, another star for the cute groundhogs.

nice view, flat terrain, near dog park

horseback riding

I rode the whole trail with lots of trotting and some walk and canter it took us just over three hours. Trail was wide and flat in most areas. There were some cows and my horse thought that was very interesting. Great exercise ride for the horse and relaxing for me.

Wouldn't call it hiking, more of a nature walk. Well maintained path with a couple gentle inclines. Saw very few walkers/runners but was very heavily trafficked with mountain bikers. Lots of cattle around/along the path so if you happen to have a fear of livestock, then avoid this trail.

horseback riding
Monday, August 22, 2016

We rode horseback the entire 14.5 mile trail. Had a lot of fun, but most of the trail is very hard packed and ROCKY. We encountered many mountain bikers, but everyone was extra-courteous. We were able to canter a little on the northeastern most section, but the horses walked most of the loop.

If you have a LARGE RIG be careful pulling in and out of the parking area. My 29' trailer was too big to pull in the usual way because of the landscape rocks and median at the entrance. We ended up pulling in against the one-way directions, and since everyone stopped to watch, it worked out.
