Nice walk. I would go early in the morning. Can get hot in the afternoon.

Great trail, slight incline up to the dam. Was hoping to see the big horned sheep but they were nowhere to be found. Will bike this trail again.

This was a wonderful wildflower hike and challenging enough for my two kids, 7 and 10, to prepare them for our longer hikes in the high country. The Fountain Formations all along the Front Range are always amazing. I never get tired of the view! Bring your binoculars. Fall migration is upon us and the birds love Roxborough. Soo much to see and do! Great proximity to home to be able to enjoy in the winter without having to fight traffic up the hill!

Happy 100th Anniversary Denver Water! Hello CT Segment 1! I'll be back for more when the cooler weather starts setting in! My husband and I took our kids, 7 and 10, 3 miles through the canyon. We saw a REALLY big snake (either a Bull snake or a Rattle snake that just shed it's skin) cross the road in front of us. I would say it was about 3 feet long. We also saw some kind of small lizard and tons of birds. Bring your binoculars! Keep those kids on the trail and eyes peeled for snakes, especially just off the roadsides. This 'walk'/hike was a warm one for sure, but very mellow at the beginning. Would love to make it to the dam sometime.

cougar was sighted at base of grizzly drive after an evening hike. other than that trails are in great shape and the creek is running.

We started at Littleton and walked North towards Denver on a Saturday morning. While there is gravel next to pavement for the duration of the trail, this is heavily used by road bikers. Don’t expect great nature or scenic views but instead focus on the ease of walking. We had a stroller with us so no complaints from a family with a small child. These is extremely sparse shad so make sure to bring your hat and sunscreen.

Great trail for riding, walking, great connectivity to other Regional trails that are good for commuting and touring.

Awesome hike! Was longer than listed! We saw sheep!!! That was awesome! The trail head at Waterton was closed which was stupid! But we didn’t let that stop up! The canyon was very hot but was fun along the river!

Longest hike I've ever done, beautiful view, abundant wildlife, very hot through Waterton canyon, overall, very tough 17 miles, extremely tired and sore, would not trade the experience.

boring for a hike and people fishing have absolutely trashed the lake. very disappointing.

Nice trail. Wide trail, good one to take the kids. Go early, very sunny, no shade. First mile or so is a gentle up hill. Beautiful rock formations! Close to Denver. Coyote trail is not clearly marked on the return, bring a map along.

Beautiful scenery, very easy, great for kids and visitors. You have to pay the state park fee for Roxborough.

Great views. Nice moderate hike.

We chose the 3.1 mile trail up to Carpenter Peak. The park lists it as being a strenuous trail. I would say it is more of a moderately difficult trail with a couple of areas being more on the strenuous side. The main drawback is large portions of the trail have no tree coverage, so it can get hot. Also, there is no way to refill water bottles once you leave the visitor's center, so make sure you bring adequate amounts with you.

Once we made it to the Peak, we were met with 360 degrees of amazing views. You can even see downtown Denver out in the distance.

Roxborough was a great place to spend the day out in nature. There is enough challenge to really get a great workout, but the elevation (7160 ft) isn't so punishing for those who are still working up to higher elevations and longer distances.

This trail was so much fun for my whole family. My kids easily did this 2.5 mile loop. There is a lot of history at Roxborough Park. Be sure to check out the little house by Washington Park. Also be sure to do the little Lyon Overlook on the east side of this trail. Great photo op! We will be back. So worth the $7 state park fee for this park. There is also a nice visitor center at the beginning of the trail. If you can watch the short video inside it’s great, 10 minutes max. They have a nice picnic area in front of the visitor center. Also a water bottle refill station in available near the bathrooms.

We loved this hike! The different terrain types ranging from the deep forest feel to the open, arid desert parts. It sprinkled briefly on our way back but didn’t ruin the experience. We also took the quick out and back on the scenic view trail to have some lunch and enjoy the views. The hike’s difficulty is accurate.

I took my kids in this hike and while the view at the top was pretty the view the rest of the hike is the same. Also, this is a 3.5 mile uphill hike. Paths are well maintained. Several people told us to take the power line trail to do a circle instead of an out and back. Wow. More uphill and not a lot to see. I recommend that you take the same way down that you took up. The red rocks are pretty but I would not do this again. Our total round trip hike was 9 miles. We did see quite a few deer.

Great trail for walking.

Decided to check this place out since it’s so close. We walked, I wouldn’t consider it hiking because it’s a gravel service road up to the dam. After about mile 3, the crowds thin out. Will definitely be back to bike. Views were pretty, saw herds of big horned sheep on the road and on the rocks above. Lots of people fly fishing.

Easy hike pretty views

fun as always.
as of today, there is no flowing water after the damn, it's dry

This was a fun trail! Was a little nervous that it was marked strenuous but it wasn’t too bad at all. We went on a really HOT day so when we weren’t in shade, it was a bit uncomfortable. But other than that; the views were great. Not too crowded either.

Love this trail. The rock formations are beautiful.

Good area for a nice ride. This isn’t for adrenaline junkies as you are riding on a road. That said, it’s not a bad spot for a quick ride and a little exercise.

very boring crowded trail. wouldn’t travel for this one

short, sweet and scenic

short, goes through subdivision. pretty flat.
