It's an ok trail. Good for beginners.

Pretty easy trail. Didn't go all the way out and back. Not a ton of shade, so definitely wish I had put on sunscreen. Will also wear my boots next time cause it's pretty rocky and rough on my ankles. On the way up, there's interesting geological facts about the area. Nice views of the back of red rocks too.

The only pro for this trail is that it provides quick access to Dakota Ridge from the east.

This trail is amazing early before the sun gets too high- and before the crowds join you! It was empty on a late-August Sunday from 7-7:45am. Its not a fast trail- lots of technical spots but it keeps you focused on the trail ahead of you. A few areas to get in some faster strides but you probably won’t beat any PRs on this route. And it’s a steady climb until you loop back: I definitely did a lot of walking two catch my breath. One of the best aspects of this trail is how much cooler it is in the morning- maybe 10 degrees lower than the trailhead? It’s great. Watch out for lots of poison ivy which can be avoided if you stay on trail.

Nice trail for a liesurely hike or run. Easy going switchbacks up to the Dakota Ridge Trail. I took to the right for some good views and a bit more challenging stair cimb up to the top of the ridge. Will definately be going back to sample some of the other trails in the area.

Very interesting archeological site. The hike is easy on the road, shared with road cyclists. I thought it was really interesting to see the old seabed and footprints and more. Combined with the Dakota ridge trail it’s a nice hike. No shade, so don’t forget the sunscreen. The Dakota ridge trail can be somewhat challenging in the heat, i for one had a slightly hard time because my body doesn’t handle heat very well. Probably best enjoyed early morning or evening before sunset.

Short hike to get to the Dakota ridge trail. I combined this hike with Dakota and dinosaur ridge. In itself not very exciting.

Very beautiful views. I combined this hike with the zorro trail and dinosaur ridge. I would rate it more towards moderate. It’s not a hard hike, but it also not very easy. If you are not in shape the climbing might cause some issues.

I only came to see the dinosaurs but a neat walk, the ridge offers nice views of the surrounding region.

Dog friendly!

Great trail, short and sweet. My new “go to” for out of town visitors, and kids. The tree cover and wider trail was great with the dog. Nice views and close to town.

Plenty of shade, lovely hike. Did it with a dog and she did great. Parking lot fills up fast though.

This trail had nice views and diverse terrain. I would say it is not kid friendly as there are many places a child could fall over the edge and parts that were very steep or rocky.

This trail is just ok. Parking situation is off the side of a busy road. If you want to get in a hike or a run, it's a good spot, but don't come here expecting spectacular views. One thing that made this trail less enjoyable is the amount of mountain bikers that just will NOT yield to hikers. The day I went I saw about 30 bikers, only 2 moved out of the way. Others quite dangerously sped by us. Maybe one day people will figure out trail rules or choose to follow them.

Love it! Nice shaded trail with a rocky trail. Lots of fun to hike with a beautiful view! You can drive to the top lookout view or you can get a good workout in with this trail!

Enough shade to cool off on hot days

Great evening hike close to Denver. Went Monday evening and there were few others on the trail. Cool view of Red Rocks

Trail was nice, gradual incline with lengths of exposed and shade. Lots of creek spots for the pup to get a drink and cool her paws. The mountain bikers kind of ruin this trail though. I usually went on odd days but made the mistake of going on an even day with more bikers and was told multiple times that I, as a hiker, must have a death wish being there on an even day and had no business being out hiking. I always step out of bikers ways plenty in advance and think we should be able to share but apparently the bikers here think they own the place and aren’t afraid to say so. I wish they would make the odd/even days to be bikes and no bikes instead of always bikes and bikes with a directional rule.

So this trail is only 2.6 miles in total instead of 5.2miles. It took us only an hour to do this loop.

Great, pretty easy trail close in to the city. It was pretty heavy with mountain bikers, but everyone was polite! The Enchanted Forest Trail was absolutely lovely and a pleasant surprise and reprieve from the sun! Overall a great way to spend a Sunday.

My favorite after work hike.

The prints and fossils were cool, but the cyclists scream profanity at you and your kids for being on the wrong side of the trail, regardless of the fact that they too keep wandering over into the pedestrian lane AND there's a tour bus we're all trying to avoid. Nice place to bring the kids though, if you're into that kind of stuff. I've had a few issues with cyclists on the trails but these people were something else. Manners y'all.

Average at best. It’s more a biking trail than hiking trail. So you have to step aside for bikers a lot. Also not ideal for dogs for the same reason. The enchanted forest part of the hike was very pleasant and peaceful. But apex trial is completely exposed to the elements. Also definitely not 5miles. The trail shown is around 3miles

When it is windy, this is the best place to hike. My favorite go to hike. There is also a trail head a Pocco Calle and better parking than on the busy road!

This was good trail for my 12 yr old Jack Russell. Enough to wear her out and challenge her. Once at top you can choose to go further. Not too many hikers, runners and bikers.

narrow and rocky trail, with heavy use by bikes and runners we always felt like we had to move off the trail to make way. started from stegasauras parking lot, didn't see any bones on that side of the hill but the view to red rocks is nice, if you can ignore I70 in sight.

Very snowy and scenic! We managed with walking shoes poles but if there was much more snow would have needed snow shoes. It’s deceptively downhill at the start, so quite a work out coming back up! ( we decided to double back rather then go through the woods as they were in the shade and likely cold ). Overall a great work out for a few hours, saw deer and enjoyed the gorgeous space!

It’s a beautiful trail and part of a large network of trails that offer endless possibilities for ur hike. When I went about 2 weeks ago, the trail through the forest was extremely icy in the shade. I wouldn’t recommend trying that part of the trail without yak tracks or micro spikes. I actually had a decent fall off the side of the trail which I would not recommend, lol.
