We parked at the Big Dominguez campground, and hiked the 15 miles down to Bridgeport over 3 days. We had our kids, ages 8 and 12 with us. It's a really easy hike, impossible to get lost. The only trick is finding water up toward the top - the creek is in a deep canyon. We ended up scrambling down the cliffs to fill our water. The kids loved playing in the water toward the bottom, though. Definitely a family friendly hike.

Perfect short hike! Trail was beautiful and really clean/well kept. Just under 3 miles round trip. Took two dogs and felt it was a great hike for dogs.

Nice hike and is kid friendly. Not to busy of a trail and it is very well worn in.

Easy to hike and very family friendly trail. The kids had so much fun looking for the biggest pieces of quartz or mica. There is so much else to explore on the way in and out.

Easy quick “hike”! Great for kids.

First time up there and it was beautiful and not real long. Best part is there is more then one trailhead there so if you want more then pick another trail and go again!

We were just driving through the area to check out the campground. We ended up walking this trail for about 2 miles. It is gorgeous, full of red sand and trees. Very easy first 2 miles. I will definitely be back to play in the waterfalls!

Good family trail, easy for kids. Good views from the bottom of the canyon and pretty rock up to the mine.

Had a great time exploring this trail for the weekend! We hiked in from the bottom to the top and back and camped at a couple different spots in between. Trail ranges from loose gravel, to hard packed dirt, to sand so be ready for anything and watch your step! The middle sections are harder to follow but lots of cairns to guide you! I almost took a couple tumbles on the loose gravel but other than that all was well! Great way to spend earth day!!

great trail. My 5 and 3 year old were able to make it the whole way.

Really beautiful hike close to town. Best in spring or fall when the weather is cooler.

Excellent trail with beautiful views

Our family loves this hike! Our dog loves this one too. We usually go in the morning but so do many other people. Beautiful.

Super easy with lots to see! Took our small dog on it and he had a blast in the running water beds. The sparkling white mica rocks made the ground look majestic. Had a fair bit of traffic.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Love Utah, but also love this place! Huge and beautiful canyons. It’s surprising to find landscapes such as this in CO. Such an amazing hike. Beautiful canyon that echos the sounds of time. It can seem crowded, but hike past the newspaper rock and you won’t see many people. When you get to the main rock art look right to see some petroglyphs that are not vandalized. There harder to find but more beautiful because inconsiderate vandals can’t get there. The canyon is more spectacular then the rock art. It’s huge and inspirational. There is no doubt why folks chose to etch their spirits into the rock. Great place, and great energy. Definitely do this hike. You’ll be happy
You did ;).

easy trail fun. going back with kids

Great short hike with a nice mine at the end. Great for winter hike.

very easy hike, good for a day where you just want to get out for a few hours! brought doggo.

easy trail, nice walk fun to explore the granite mine.

This trial is much closer to Grand Junction (about 20 minutes) than it is to Gateway (about 1 hour and 30 minutes).

Beautiful and plenty of shade!

Good hike just remember it's dessert so bring sunscreen and lots of water also bathing suit as there are lots of spots to take a dip swim around on a hot summer day! Definitely one of my favorite hikes near by!

Only struggle is the heat midday, but that's what the waterfalls are for! You can hike down to the second waterfall, too. Make sure and try it.

Good trail! Loved the views. Went when there was some slight rain the forecast, which is dangerous in a canyon, so I wouldn't recommend it. But the views were very beautiful and the trail itself is easy enough for animals and children.

Hiked out to the first petroglyphs. Which was about 3.5mi. it's a super easy hike, trail is obvious, not much elevation gain. Good views of the river, and canyon. Overall fun, enjoyable hike.
