Have hiked parts of this trail coming off the Nature Trailhead across from Visitor's Center and then from the CCC trail. Saw one other person on the two days we were on the trail. Great views, nice rolling terrain. A terrific constitutional on a beautiful day.

very pretty trail and quiet. We saw few hikers. It was a very calm and clear, we were able to se Utah. We started at the Visitor Center and exited at the CCC Trail branch. We hiked the road back, we got to see the entire canyon but would choose that option next time. definitely recommend sunglasses and a hat!

Live in Fruita just across the river and like to go on this trail for a quick workout and get away. Nice views at the top

Trail markers aren't great, we ended up off the path almost as soon as we started but still and enjoyable area to explore. I'd recommend marking where you started or bringing a compass - it's easy to get turned around. We followed signs for Flume 1 (often pointing in two different directions) and Inner Flume so just keep track of where you go. Great views, and some small animals.

Took us about two hours, but I wouldn't depend on that - again, really easy to get off the trail.

Great hike, very scenic and lightly trafficked.
DO NOT use Google Maps to get there - it takes you into Glade Park and onto B 1/2 Road and that is incorrect....
From Rimrock Drive in Colorado Nat’l Monument (near Black Ridge/Upper Liberty Cap Trailhead) turn onto 16 1/2 Rd (leaving park and going toward Glade Park) and just after leaving the park you will see parking on your right - turn in there.
There is a kiosk with map and directions, and a gate. Check before you go to,see if it is open, with BLM. This leads to the Black Ridge Upper and Lower roads - each open different times of year.
High Clearance 4WD is a good idea, although a great deal of it can be traveled with SUV.
NatGeo Map Trails Illustrated #502 shows the route.

Short hike to a restored pioneer cabin, some views, shares trailhead with the Paleo trail. Worth doing in when in the area.

It was fairly easy. It was great for my 6 and 10 year old they both enjoyed it very much! Pretty views.

Amazing hike I do a few times a month, lots to look at to keep it fun and interesting. Indian paintbrush is blooming and so are the cactus. Caterpillars and lizards are out too. I like taking the loop counter clockwise doing the longest part first makes for a fast trip back. Mining cabin at the end is fun to visit, be sure to sign the book inside.

Fantastic views and endless trail options.

An easy hike that we did with the kids (6 and 2.5) yesterday. It was perfect to burn off wiggles and learn something interesting too!

Beautiful views all along the trail!

Great hike. Great area. It’s rides the rim of the canyon for the most part, and has stellar views. Not much elevation change, so it’s a good hike to take if your not feeling up to something bigger. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

This is a fairly easy trail as it has no significant climbs or descents. It’s a nice roller with some minor ups and downs. On a clear day you can see Utah. We usually hike it one way rather than doing it out and back, ending at the Visitors Center. But doing this requires two vehicles parking one at each end.

so beautiful!

Endless number of trails! Can do a ‘lite hike’ with the kiddos or a strenuous run with the dogs. Be sure to look at a map before heading out. Trails are less well marked the further you get away from the trailhead.

Lots of options on this loop system. Great hike year round!

Beautiful. Would be great for my dad to walk and take photos. Grandkids would also love it.

Favorite in the area!

Love this trail! The view of the canyon is beautiful as you walk a long the slick rock and the red rock with many balanced rocks.

Quiet and peaceful hike. We had the trail to ourselves. Beautiful scenery and only a couple steep parts of the trail that were easily managed. We finished right at sunset which was beautiful.

Love this hike! The right trail can be a bit difficult to find, so make sure your study the map before you go. It's a pretty easy hike, with very little elevation change. The full loop is well worth the journey. You'll find yourself surrounded by magnificent 1500 canyon walls, juniper, and all the beauty deserts have to offer. The cabin at the end of the loop is the perfect oasis in a land with few opportunities for shade. Get out and enjoy this Colorado gem!!

About 8.5 mile loop from parking lot. Beautiful hike, easy terrain, spectacular views.

My 5 and 10yo sons run this loop with me. Fun, interesting, nice views and a cool, little mining cabin to explore.

Many trails - easy to moderate. Dog friendly. Also called Devil's Canyon trail system.

Lots of horse droppings. It's also sandy until you get to the canyon.

Good for kids, short hike.

Great views of the canyons and red buttes as you walk through them! We enjoyed seeing so much of the landscape on this hike. And even saw mountain lion tracks!
