very easy. nice in the fall but i personally found the lake disappointing. if you’re in the area check it out but not worth driving to. does lead to other trials that may have been more interesting (ex. you can take one all the way back to breckenridge!)

Great trail. Part of the road to the trail head is closed for winter so it adds to the overall length. Great views of the lake. 7/10 would hike again.

Easy way to score some excellent views. Perfect for its purpose.

Very easy trail with nice views. Only took about 20 minutes.

Extremely difficult due to the steepness of the climb.

Loved this. Easy walking nothing too technical and the views were spectacular. We saw a wedding on trail and a bald eagle was flying around too!

Trail map is NOT correct for the branches off of the loop version of this hike. The out and back just to the lake is fine.

Great trail with a mild incline the first couple of miles. Perfect for someone who doesn’t live at altitude and is in the process of acclimatization. Beautiful vista views after mile two. Lots of trees down because of logging and infestations, but this allows for gorgeous views of the peaks.

A better mountain biking trail than hiking. Difficult to find the trail head. We ended up parking in an area with a sign that says no overnight parking or camping off revette drive. Then we walked around the lake and through a trail easement. The trail actually starts at Tiger run resort center so don’t follow Apple Maps to get to the trail head. Trail ends in the tiger run resort. We did hike counter clockwise.

Nice hike, but could've had better travel markings so we did. 8 extra miles. Beautiful scenery though while off of the trail.

Easy as pie on this road. You can take any SUV on here no problem!

Great conditions today. Pretty snow but not overwhelming. Hiked a little beyond the Gore trail intersection and found nice virgin powder but also lots of marsh. Best to turnaround at junction. Also remember its hunting season, so dress to be seen!

This is a great short hike with amazing views of lake Dillon. Right now, the lake is more like a mud pond. If you go in the spring and summer there are beautiful lily pads and the mountains surrounding the lake a stunning with snow patches.

Hey challenging hike, ever upward. With the most spectacular views of the Dillon reservoir below in Peak One behind. Well worth the hard work.

Beautiful views. Easy walk

This trail was anything but easy. the first mile was very muddy and lots of rocks to scramble over. the second mile was not muddy but was not level and was alot of climbing down hills with pine needles that made it very slippery and lots of downed trees to climb over. This trail should not be listed as a trail for all skill levels and even though the elevation gain isn't significant it should be rated as moderate just because of the terrain.

Great day for a hike, lots of mountain bikes but not too bad. The trail head fills up late morning so get there early.

I lovely, easy trail. At times it was easy to lose the trail but I always was able to find it again.

It's strenuous but definitely worth it! My wife and I are flat-landers from Kansas City. We arrived in Frisco on Friday, hiked 10 Mile Trail Saturday, and then Mount Royal this morning. I'm 37 and she's 34. We are in decent shape but by no means really fit - we've been walking or jogging 2-3 times a week for the past few months until about a week ago. We took several breaks, paced ourselves, and made the hike just fine. Slow and steady for us and we were so glad we did it.

I divide my hiking on Mt. Royal into 5 sections. The 4th section after the switchback is long and pretty steep. As a low-lander most of the year, I have to take 2-4 breathing breaks. I use it as my training trail for other hikes. The view is magnificent. And nothing beats hiking on the trail when the leaves change colors.

I really enjoyed this hike. it was a little muddy and rocky in areas, but not enough to really increase thw difficulty. the views were amazing. you could hear traffic from the highway but the noise largely went away the further away you hiked. it was an amazing hike!

10/5/2019 super easy very little elevation gain and the trail skirts the entire reservoir. We were looking for something short and simple, this was perfect. we did make it slightly tougher on ourselves. there is a high side and low side and the loop has two parking lots. we started from the bottom and went uphill, although not much tougher it would be easier to start from the high side. we did the loop around 1:30 and it took about two hours, taking our time. there were definitely more cars than people, we only saw one person on trail. it gets a 4 star only because the highway is still in view pretty much the whole way. at this point in the year there were hardly any bugs at all. the low side was a bit muddy at points but not bad at all.
