We did this hike on 10/21. There was some snow but not enough to require crampons. It was a pretty and an easy hike. (We actually ended up exploring beyond the second lake and going on Salt Lick trail then looping back.) The trail was wooded mostly and it smelled like pine and sage in some parts. There were lots of Aspen trees without leaves so I’ll probably try this hike again earlier in the fall next year.

This trail was easy-to-moderate and peaceful. We did it in early October and had a picnic lunch by the second lake. I enjoyed it but I probably wouldn’t do it again.

Nice, easy short hike. Lots of aspens so I can imagine what this trail looks like in early fall. Nice views of Dillon in any case with a nice lake and mountain views up top. Great weather today and not too many people on the hike. Great hike for early morning or late afternoon.

STEEP! But fun

Muddy hike today, 10.19.18 due to precip last night. Takes awhile to get away from I70 noise. Good workout. Lakes are meh but views at top are nice. Was peaceful and that's what I'm after but probably would not do this again. Too many other better trails in the area.

Excellent easy trail for kiddos. I walked this with my 4 year old and my 10 year old. great views and easy walk! You dont want to miss this if you are looking for something non strenuous but beautiful!

Hiked with trail with my husband and two daughters (ages 12 and 9). Saw 4 moose right when we started!!! Trail was easy to hike and the lake is really pretty.

This trail is an excellent day hike. On October 12, my son and I ventured from Copper Mountain toward Wheeler Lakes. The first two-thirds is the steepest portion of the hike with the final third easier on the legs. Our journey included snow, which enhanced the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this hike.

Fun trail. Nice views and follows creek most of the way up.

Difficult incline but doable with a good amount of breaks. Really beautiful view at the top (not much of a lake view, mostly able to see the lake on the ascend/descend parts).

The beginning of this trail was heavily logged, very few trees standing. There were a couple scenic segments and good views of the Breckenridge Ski area much of the way. This was a day hike for us. Only moderately enjoyable.

Our 5 and 3 year old enjoyed finding walking sticks and drawing with them in the little bit of snow there was left! Quick and easy hike!

Beautiful hike! I hiked in a considerable amount of snow; about 4-6 inches around mile 2 and increasing to a foot or more around mile 3.5-4! The trail through the snow stopped short of the pass and I didn't have the gear to break new snow trail, so didn't make it to the pass. The highway noise fades away after the first mile and then it was silent!

Trailhead off traffic circle in Frisco. Beautiful hike through dense forest and well marked trail. Highlights include gorgeous view Lake Dillon before reaching Lily Pad lake. Pretty continuous elevation to lake, about 800ft. Much more scenic than section from Silverthorne to Lily Pad lake.

Out of shape and from Iowa, this trail challenged me at times and overall a great hike. steady incline all the way up. Rain and snow the entire time but the cloudy view at the top was still amazing with the snow covered trees.

Great trail, but our tracker came up with 13 miles. probably better to go from copper to gold Hill. Slightly less strainuous.

Nice trail that was quick and easy! Most of the aspens has already lost their leaves though.

I believe I left a green nalgene water bottle covered in stickers on this trail. If anyone finds it could you please let me know?

We didn't see any Ospreys but it was a great walk. Nice views of the lake and mountains. Great for the kids and the dog =)

Its a short walk but offers spectacular views and tons of small wildlife. For the amount of effort it is quite the reward. Don't miss this hike!

Very easy hike. We saw a moose!

Great little jaunt for a last minute spontaneous hike. We got there around 1pm and there was hardly anyone there. There is actually parking much closer to where the trail turns into the mountain off 70 otherwise, you have to walk a little bit on the side of 70 before you turn in which I thought was actually pretty cool. Either way, you are pretty much right across from Copper Mt at the start. Good little easy hike for some exercise . Aspens along the trail pretty much have lost their leaves as of today.

Pros:
* Short easy hike. Slow, steady incline until you hit the lakes.
* Pretty, open space at the top where the lakes are. That's the best part.
* Trail head is easy to find, right of Rt 70 across from Copper
* Good choice for beginners or a last minute hike.
* Quiet at the top by the two lakes. Although the lakes are not the typical turquoise mountain lakes, still pretty to have lunch at. Very peaceful. We were there just appreciating the silence for an hour.
* Most of the hike has good cover from trees once you get past the first mile.

Cons:
* Not the pretties of hikes unless you hit it during peak aspen leaf changing. Your mostly in trees.
* Views until you get to the lakes are through the trees and are mostly of Copper Mountain if any views at all.

Nice easy hike with minimal elevation gain yet gorgeous foliage and intermittent mountain views. We did this hike on a Sunday morning starting around 9 AM - We were the 4th car in the parking lot and only met other hikers occasionally throughout the hike (mainly on our way back between Rainbow Lake and the parking lot). We also got to see a mother moose and her two babies grazing in the field right by the parking lot. Perfect hike on a fall day with TONS of fall colors!

I’m a previously in shape hiker who is now super out of shape. The uphill on the way to the lakes was very tough (had to stop and catch my breath a lot), but I kept on. It was short enough that it didn’t kill me :) The lakes were decent. Back to the parking was all downhill and much easier for me. Took me 2 hours from parking lot to the top lake, and then 1.5hrs down. Great part about this hike is that much of the trail goes through the trees, so lots of shade.

lots of different settings - river with mini waterfalls, open canyons and forested pine trees and Aspen's. hiked on tuesday 9/25 and not too crowded. walked from just under the highway overpass and it was just under 7.5 miles. did it in 2 hrs 40 minutes. turn around when you get to the cross

Nice hike. Easy access trailhead parking. A workout and an awesome view at the top and at places along the way. Older hikers should be sure they are acclimated to the altitude before ascent as workload, can be high, especially on the upper stretch.

Fantastic views, tons of chipmunks, great for a warm up/cool down hike, or a leisurely stroll.

Views are amazing and well worth all the uphill! Majestic mountain views, peaceful lakes, and a bit of Fall in the air-what more could you ask for.
