This is a great, easy-to-moderate hike. As stated, it’s really rocky, so wear shoes that support your ankles. The ridge can get quite breezy, so keep that in mind as well, especially in winter. Really nice views of Fort Collins and snow-covered foothills. I got 6 miles total as well, not 4.8.

Amazing views of Rocky Mountain National Park.

My first real “hike” in Colorado. At the start of the trail I saw so much dog poop. I am glad it wasn’t all over the trail. Once you head up in elevation the pine trees start appearing. So scenic. The waterfall was frozen but I bet in the spring it’s stunning. I’ll be back.

We took Towers Trail to Loggers Trail to Mill Creek and back down Towers. Great variation all along and a nice lookout/seating area where Mill Creek/Spring Creek/Towers meet at the top. Highly recommend!

Nice little trail. Pretty rocky in some places so you need to keep your head down in parts. I would say it isn’t marked that well. We were on the main trail and ended up at 6.5 miles so I’m not sure where the 4.8 is coming from.

This was my first Colorado trail. I took my 4 year old boy so needed a small trail so I picked this one. Very flat and although it’s the middle of January, we had to remove our jackets. We saw grassland, rivers and even 5 deer. Very pretty and not too busy. I would have given this trail 5 stars but as I walked in and out all you could smell was the water treatment plant which is right next to the trail. It was very bad. Not sure if it’s always this bad so just keep that in mind.

Great hike in the winter.. Not as many people, no snakes and there is actually a waterfall (frozen today)

Easy to moderate hike, quick and beautiful.

took a lot longer than anticipated.....pitch black on arrival to car . hit snow ice VERY Slippery making our descent down the primitive trail downright scary! had 2 dogs almost lost one crossing a frozen waterfall...thank God my son is super fit and was able to pull her up despite the ice and yak tracks .....it was rough and scary . we have been hiking year round and would NOT recommend the primitive trail for decent. best to hike this in summer and early fall.will not forget this hike anytime soon

Excellent views; great introduction to Fort Collins.

A nice little loop right in town. Flat trail, very little traffic (done on a Monday) but I was so disappointed to see so much dog poop on/along the trail. Seriously it was like at least every 50 yards, lot of trails seem to be littered with bags that *i hope* people are planning to pick up on there way out but so many piles that no one bothered to even bag here!!Just a responsible dog owner people!!

Great trail for long boarding! Smooth the whole way and it’s got a few neat things to see along the way.

This was our first time to hike Horsetooth and it was beautiful. I took my 7 and 10 year old and we all made it to the top with no issues. There are a few slick spots along the way but we easily navigated around them. Views from the top are beautiful and I’ll be back for sure

Did this trail on 12/8. Perfect hiking day. Some powdery snow on the trail, but no need for spikes. Great trail close to town.

My father in law and I hiked this trail this afternoon (early-December) and it was a nice 4 mille in-and-out trail with beautiful views of the reservoir at various parts of the hike as well as a gorgeous view at the top. I would rate it as moderate mostly because of the steepness, but it was very doable. The steep parts were made easy by rock steps and no part of the trail was terribly treacherous. About 2/3 of the trail was covered in snow (beginning and end) but it wasn't icy. It took us a little under 2 hours to complete.

by far some of the best flowing singletrack in rolling valley. if you want big climbs head up into the mountains if you want fast fun with punchy climbs stick to the valley. again if it's a nice weekend day there will probably be a lot of traffic on the trails.

Perfect training for CX or mountain bike sprints. Wide trails for most anyone, plus some singletrack for others. If it's a nice weekend expect a LOT of traffic on the trails and surrounding area trails.

Easy trail in Fort Collins that loops. Has some great views to the river and informative signs about wildlife and environment along the path. Dogs aren’t allowed!

Hiked on 11/28/18. Trail still has some packed snow and ice in spots, but nothing that required spikes.

This was a great hike. It was so icy and hard to navigate. I will definitely go back when it gets warmer.

Great trail. Views were never ending! Nothing to difficult. Gorgeous area though and easy to connect to other trails as well.

I was really excited to walk the trails with my puppy but since there was no mention of no dogs allowed until getting into it, we weren’t able to go on it.

made it through in stock 2013 suburban with some scarping. very challenging. had a great time.

I love this trail. I walk it a lot and love watching the changing foliage over the seasons. Sometimes you have to share the trail with bikers/

I'm sort of in between a 3 and 4 on this one.

PROS: Bathroom at start, lots of parking nice trail. Some decent views, although, at this time of year, there was no "falls" to look at. Just a trickle coming down...literally!
CONS: Not specifically a con, but make sure to review the map prior to starting. It connects to the Spring Creek Trail and then Soderberg as well... be mindful of that. All Trails *sometimes* mentions when there are connections and sometimes doesn't. My friend and I went to a dead end due to this. This makes it sound like it is just one name all the way around.

It was decently hard in some spots (elevation gain!) so the designation of moderate is right. My phone app said we went 4.2 miles, however maybe we went longer due to going off course a bit. All in all, decent and a nice hike for a sunny Sunday (no shade) in the fall.

Well maintained trail and not too strenuous. It is a great hike for the front range. The view from the top of horsetooth rock is nice.

Beautiful walking trail for viewing the foliage.

This is a pretty loop hike and is not as highly trafficked as going to the rock.
