Length: 4.2 mi • Est. 2 h 17 m
As of May 27, 2020, users have reported that Part of the figure eight is closed off for revegetation. Please see the park's website for up to date information. This candy wrapper style loop trail will take you past 2 small waterfalls and Upper Maxwell Falls if you do the whole loop. This forested trail has two trail head options with a loop in the middle. This information is from the lower trail head parking lot. From the lower trailhead the distance to Upper Maxwell Falls is about 2 miles. From the lower trailhead after crossing the foot bridge stay to the left and follow the signs and the river upwards to go directly to Upper Maxwell Falls or go right to go up Cliff Loop Trail which will meet back with Maxwell Falls trail just above the falls. If you take Maxwell Falls trail first the falls will be two miles up on the left and down. Just listen for the water getting louder and keep an eye out. It's a bit hidden. You can turn back from here or continue past the falls a short way to find the Cliff Loop Trail on the right. This will take you back around to the foot bridge. Or you can go the opposite way, taking Cliff Loop Trail from the foot bridge and coming back down Maxwell Falls Trail. You will see one very small falls a bit lower on Maxwell Falls Trail and another on Cliff Trail near the foot bridge.Show more

Length: 2.1 mi • Est. 52 m
Note: Bikes are NOT allowed on this trail. This trail is on the Pence Park map and is easily found behind the trailhead information board. It is a short but steep hike with views of Evergreen to the east and Bear Mountain to the south. From the parking lot pass the information sign and the trail sign for Bear Creek Trail leading across the road. Go up the marked trail until reaching a small wooden stairway. This is a balloon shaped trail so either taking or passing the stairway will lead you to the same place where the trail continues on up the hill. Thick evergreen forests will break occasionally for small grassy areas. Flowers of all shapes and colors bloom along the trail. You will also pass a small spring where wild roses grow and an aspen grove lit up like candles when hit by the early morning sun. The summit will provide panoramic views of Bear Mountain on the left, the City of Evergreen and of course the Rocky Mountains.Show more

Length: 11.3 mi • Est. 6 h 15 m
This popular trail climbs the ridge between Truesdell Creek and Beartracks Creek to Lower Beartrack Lake. Expect to encounter many other hikers on summer weekends. From the Camp Rock Campground, the trail travels along a Bear Creek for about a mile. On crossing the creek, it climbs through the 485 acre Beartracks Fire (1998). Leaving the burn, it continues up the ridge, briefly joins the Cub Creek trail, then turns SW and crosses Beartracks Creek to the lake. The access from the Mount Evans State Wildlife Area is closed to vehicular traffic Labor Day through June 15. These trails are accessible from other Forest Service trails in the area. Also, as of July 1, 2020 a state hunting or fishing license is required to access the SWA.Show more
