scenic and easy biking.good exercise for a quick 8 miles up and back in under an hour.good for finding fishing spots.nice that it's not as crowded as like eldorado canyon or Boulder canyon.

Great for sightly more difficult family hikes.

This was a nice trail to hike with kids and dogs, but there were a lot of (very polite) mountain bikers. Not too steep or long and some nice views along the summit trail. Nice and shady and a mostly smooth trail.

Lovely little trail (more of a service road) with a variety of views and a reservoir at the bottom. Not too busy but most of the people on the trail were walking their dogs, some without leashes (which are required). There was some ice on the trail in the shaded areas so once winter is in full swing bring microspikes.

Very nice walk around the lake! Pretty crowded and almost didn’t find a parking spot. Path is well maintained, though and views are wonderful.

Lots of bikers, great view at the top. Very gradual incline and not too steep

Not bad, good for a short hike and time in nature. Good for families and dogs. Pretty busy on a Saturday, by the time my group left at 11am the parking lot was packed and many people heading out to the trails. I liked this and would be a good hike for my small dog.

Great hike with great views at the top.

Great quick day hike. Awesome view at top. Be prepared for incline!

Bergen Peak has a beautiful view. This trail didn't have many scenic views and I hardly saw any fall colors but all in all it was still a nice trail and definitely a good workout. Also, a great place for trail running.

Did this hike yesterday in the middle of a snow shower, and it was really nice! Like others, we missed the turnoff for the falls, but found it after finding the sign on our way back down. Apparently, we hiked nearly 1/2 a mile past it. My phone was acting up, so I wasn't able to add a waypoint to the map.

That being said, this is a really nice hike. It would be great for out-of-towners, since the elevation gain is very managable. I don't know if it was the weather, or that it was Wednesday, but we ran into more bags of dog poop than people. Seriously folks, clean up after yourselves!

Did the north and south loop today and it was very pretty. Snowed the whole time making it even better. I’d say it’s a fairly easy hike, took me maybe 30-40 minutes and I was stopping and taking pics. I’m new to Colorado so my lungs ain’t good either, def recommend to anyone looking for a close hike from the city.

Perfect, easy short hike for winter. If this was done in summer, I'd give 3 stars that are because it is boring and too easy. First snow day, beautiful Aspen trees covered with snow and ran into some deer. Thumbs up! Parking was only filled with 4 cars at 9 am.

Super easy trail, and peaceful trail... loved it!

Weather was great for hiking and not too many people on the trail (it was a weekday after all). Trail is pretty dusty and I can see this getting muddy after some rainfall. Really wasn't much too see as there are not any viewpoints and you're walking through dense forest. We missed the sign that points to the falls 100 yards away. It was kind of easy to miss as it doesn't really face the trail very well. There were at least two other groups that had missed it also and we were all looking for it. After finding the falls, it was disappointing to see the dismal trickle of water coming down the rocks. I'd hardly classify it as "falls". All in all, it was an ok hike.

Good trail that’s not too difficult and well maintained. Nice short little hike.

Nice hike but probably not hard as it’s a steady climb. Good views on the way up and at the top especially as the clouds had rolled it giving you on top of the world feeling.
Nice to lose the traffic noise once on the far side.
Would definitely do again.

This is a well-maintained, nice trail that’s easily accessible from Denver. It’s currently starting to transition into fall colors. We went on a Saturday morning and were pleasantly surprised by how few people we saw, especially on the non-Bergen Peak Trail side of the loop. As others have said, the listing underestimated the length - my AllTrails app clocked us at 10.8 miles round trip from the parking lot.

Good trail for me to get used to altitude!

I went her at the recommendation of my local bike shop and I had a great time. Was just by myself but decided to not look at the trail map and just go where I thought looked more interesting. Ended up staying and going up and down again and again for almost four hours. Next time I will have to bring my climbing shoes though as I found some nice bouldering spots just off the trails. Was fairly crowded and a fairly easy but pleasant downhill ride. The times I was going uphill wasn’t bad and I would say with some of the rocks and logs in the trail could be considered a medium.

Beautiful hike! The colors were so pretty with a few aspens interspersed in the ponderosa. Keep your eyes out for the sign down to Maxwell falls off the trail - it can be easy to miss depending on which way you come up. You have to walk ~100m upstream to see the main falls. Also, please pick up your dog poop bags! We saw at least 6 bags at the trailside.

Yeah it's a little crowded, but Lair o' the Bear in general is. You don't go there for secluded walks, but more of a meander-with-kids-or-dogs type easy hike. Great for kids as they get the fun of climbing the 'bluff' and can play around in the creek after. We've been to LofB half a dozen times, and this is the first time we've ever formally followed a trail instead of just playing around. Really nice, would do this one again.

Birding was ok

Great trail with lots of shade. The higher section was not to crowded even for a Saturday, there was more people near the bottom on our way back, but that was because it was in the 12 o'clock hour. I would rate this trail as a moderate not difficult. We went counterclockwise, and the climbing sections were nice and steady, but not crazy steep.

Not much scenery as it’s in a valley. Barely any changing of the leaves so not recommend right now if that’s your goal. Lots of uphill and rocky. Great cardio. Never made it to the falls. Heavily trafficked...

It is beautiful and fun. It takes awhile to get to the falls so be prepared to hike! It’s also very much in the forest and you don’t see mountains or the sky a whole bunch.

Loved this hike. Kid friendly three years and up. If you go early take a jacket. The way we went ended at the river. Perfect spot to cool off and dip your toes in. We will be going again.

I am only giving this trail a two because I didn't finish it. The second parking lot has a river running with beautiful rocks that where we stayed the entire time. We attempted to do the trail however it was very overgrown where the brush was constantly touching you. Being scared of running into a Rattlesnake, we decided to turn back and maybe come back in Winter. There was also a Bear in area sign that kind of freaked me out. No parking fee, Bathrooms at the trail head.

gorgeous in the winter!
