Easy hike. Terrific overlooks. The feel of this Canyon is impressive. Weekends are packed. Arrive early or go during the week.

Awesome park

Nice hike not hard at all. Nice view

Beautiful scenery the whole way. Nice steady uphill climb. Moderate. One of my favorites!

Trail was in decent shape. lots of smaller rocks on the trail which makes running fast more difficult. Not to busy during the week. not much shade so make sure you bring lots of water.

Fun hike! We did a hard 8 miles in the sun and shade. Dogs loved the stream!

It's a beautiful hike, but like others have said, it was definitely strenuous. The payoff when you get to the peak is definitely worth it! Don't get discouraged!

Amazing views for being 20 min from Westminster. Even saw a rattler!

Awesome views from overlook, highly recommend this hike. It's pretty much uphill the whole way, but the view is worth it.

Love the view. Shaded hike for the most part, until the last maybe ten minutes or so. Beautiful views of all the smog

Amazing hike for such low elevation and so close to home. Went with buddy and three dogs. Enough vertical gain to get the heart rate up without being too strenuous. Beautiful views to the southwest toward Indian Peaks/Continental Divide. Hope to go back another time and add Walker Ranch. Be sure to bring $8 cash if you're going at a time when a ranger might not be there to swipe your credit card.

Love the trail! I would go back there again

This trail is awesome! Lots of beautiful views the entire time! There are a lot of steep hills that sometimes make it sketchy when having your dog with you. As long as you have control of them, you should be fine!

Great hike! Pretty views of the mountains and of Denver while also having the sound of the river and being able to go down to the river at Walker Ranch Trail when you get to the end of the Canyon Trail. The River is just down a small hill so it's worth the extra steps. Today it was partly cloudy which was nice b/c it didn't get too hot on the trail. The parking and trail became more crowded around 11am so getting there early is beneficial.

Steadily uphill most of the way but not too taxing. A great spot close to Boulder. I was surprised by how scenic the canyon is. It's $8 to park for the day or $3 if you park on the street and walk up to the entrance. Hard to gauge because I wasn't paying close attention to it but I'd guess we drove about a half mile or so from the entrance to our parking spot by the trailhead. So if you walk in be prepared for a little extra hiking.

I agree with the other reviews— this is definitely a challenge, especially once you get past the graded trail section and start climbing up Shadow Canyon, where there is not a defined trail and you are primarily scrambling up rocks. There are no cairns to guide you, but the way up is fairly intuitive and other hikers coming down help show the way. The canyon section feels long because there seems to be no point of reference. Unlike climbing a 14er, there is no false summit much less a real summit as a visual goal. But keep going! The saddle between Bear Peak and South Boulder Peak features an otherworldly section of burned trees and it is very dramatic— the charred trees against the greens and yellows of the vegetation, the colors of the rock and the bright blue sky is spectacular. The climb up to South Boulder Peak is not bad and once you summit, the views are amazing. Loved seeing Longs Peak from that vantage point! The summit is great too if you are with someone you like sharing canned wine, olives, fruit, and homemade zucchini bread. The way down is tricky but the hike is well worth the effort!

Rattlesnake Gulch is a great trail for hikers. I am Jason's daughter and I am ten years old. This is my third time on it and I absolutely love it. It does get a little steep sometimes, but all in all Rattlesnake Gulch is a wonderful scenic trail for everyone around six and above.

The start of the trail is pretty, but the 2nd half is pretty much just a wide open service road.

Good starter hike if you are not used to elevation. Gorgeous views. Well maintained and moderately traveled. After your done, take a dip in the water pools!

If you haven't been here dont miss out. great hike!

One of my favorite hikes near the house.

Fairly easy hike with great views of the continental divide and then the mountains once you're at the top. The trail is loose in some areas but it's well maintained.

Great short hike! This is my 12yo beagles favorite place to be. The parking and trails can get a little crowded. Great view behind every turn. Park staff is very friendly.

Very good front range trail with plenty of beautiful views of the Divide and front range. I paired it with the walker ranch trail for a total of 11.24mi and completed in 5:18. The Canyon trail to the river has lots of changes in ascent/descent with nice views so definitely not a trail you get bored on. I prefer trails with a goal in mind so the river/canyon at the end is perfect and a great place for lunch. Trail was very well maintained and I didnt experience a lot of traffic during my hike.

Only went to the ruins then turned around. Pretty heavily trafficked but the park itself is gorgeous & this trail is well maintained and provides very nice views throughout

Quite the incline for about half way, but worth the view once you hit the overlook point! Going back down is a breeze!

This was a great hike. Fair amount of people, yet not crowded. Still peaceful and fun. Dog-friendly, with friendliest trial I’ve ever been on. Steep hike up, rocky and often narrow, little protection from the cliff, but worth it. Take it easy, rest. It’s a great afternoon. View of Crag’s Hotel and Continental Divide is spectacular. Oh, and stop in the river once you’ve come down.

8 dollar parking.

Fabulous hike. Sturdy views, etc. highly recommended.
