My daughters, 7 and 10 hiked this trail with me. It was steep, we took lots of breaks and there are some very narrow parts of the trail. The view from the top is beautiful and worth the hike.

Go early in the morning. We started at 8 am, but by the time we were coming out it was starting to get too hot for the dog. There is some shade, but the middle part of the hike is fairly exposed to the sun.

I did this hike in the fall and it was a little foggy and misty which made it that much cooler and eerie. Steep uphill on the way up but much easier on the way down.

This is a great mid trail for a day hike. Take water and a camera.

Loved it but hot in the summer! Partially shaded

Great, easy trail. We started late around 2:30 and finished before less than 3 hours. We took our time at the start to acclimate to the altitude. Arrived in CO yesterday.

Definitely challenging climb/hike. Came across baby rattlesnake along the trail. Very title wildlife otherwise. Lots of stairs on Shadow Trail. We took Mesa to add 2 miles to hike and came down Homestead. My favorite hike so far in Colorado.

Nice hike that is close to town. Area is busy so go early.

What a great hike. Definitely challenges that cardio and strength for a hike in the front range but has to be my favorite hike in Boulder. Beautiful, challenging (perfect for 14er training- sans the altitude), and close to Denver! Oh, and bring exact change-$5 for parking!

Loved this trail. Brought our two small dogs and it was very safe for them. We kept them on leash and let them cool off in the stream at the halfway point. Definitely go in the morning. Middle part of trail really exposed but flatter and beginning and end is nice and shaded. Start and end with switchbacks. Beautiful views! We saw Denver’s skyline and the river at the turnaround is really beautiful.

Did this hike early July with my 5 and 7 year old boys. Beautiful views, light traffic early in the day. A bit steep for the youngest but we just took our time.

Nice easy trail. Very beautiful once you start to climb. We only made it about 1-1/2 miles with our kids (they are new to climbing). We just got done with our first 14er and realized we needed to train more. This trail is fun for all ages but if you want a challenge, this is not it.

awesome! beautiful!

A moderate uphill climb with some great views. Top of the trail is closed until mid-July but it was still a fun hike.

Beautiful trail! The views were amazing!

Trail is closed at the top for Golden Eagle nesting until July 15, 2018. Rocky uphill climb. Good views of Continental Divide.

This hike has amazing views, however the loop closed for Eagles and so it is not a loop hike, you hike up and back down the same trail. Get there early or you won’t get parking.

Great views, decent hike, nice overlook at the continental divide. Not crowded on a Thursday afternoon

Good quick hike with great views and a decent workout!

This ones a favorite close to home! Connects to other trails, so you can make it a longer hike if you want. Everything is lush & green right now & tons of wildflowers. Did this on a late Sunday afternoon & is wasn't too crowded.

Great hike to acclimate our flat lander bodies to the higher elevations prior to hitting the higher trailers in the National Park. Great views especially if you go the the river and just beyond.

gradual climb with very nice views at the top. **the loop is currently closed through mid July for eagle preservation.

This is a moderate hike with amazing views along the way. There’s a great spot to view the Continental Divide at the top.

6-13-18 great day on the trail. Very well maintained and a good workout! Views were great. Good blend of shade and exposed areas. Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated. I want to go back and do the walkers ranch loop’

This was a fun and easy trail, we went as far as the small waterfall on the ranch trail making the total trip 7 miles in/out. There was plenty of beautiful scenery and mature tree cover, we were rained on, but if we weren't I think this would have been a very warm summer hile.

Overall: a great way to spend 4 hours with hikers of any skill level. Bring water!

great hike in shade for a hot sunny day.

Great hike and the view was amazing. Starts out with a good incline (both directions since it is a in and out trail) but once past that was easy going. Great for a leisurely walk in the woods. Walker Ranch loop was closed today for a fire precaution but Ranger said should be open tomorrow 6-13-18.

Probably my favorite hike in Colorado if I want to show people. The only hike I don’t mind repeating, since I enjoy a new hike every time. This one has some cool history of the hotel ruins. Views of the continental divide west, views of the plains to the east. Train track/ tunnel which is easily accessible but not suggested as it is considered trespassing. Even some fun easy rocks to climb on up at the top.
