Encountered mountain lions on trail on two separate instances. It was pretty terrifying. Definitely not a good hike with pets or small children given the big cat presence. Also mosquitos were very bad and trail extremely narrow in some parts.

The trail can be difficult to follow and there’s still some snow around 10k ft. Mosquitoes were savage. However, the views are epic and it was worth it.

Beautiful hike, but trail had a lot of fallen trees, branches and brush that you had to get under, over and through. Recommend hiking shoes and pants. Great view, a lot of flowers, scenery was well worth it.

The first mile wasn't too great. Trail was a little narrow and overgrown. As it got further up the valley it grew into a better trail in pine forest. Trail followed a creek which was in flood state and spectacular. (The area had record snow fall the past winter.) Many good waterfalls and cascades. The lake was one of the most beautiful I've been to. We had a perfect little camp and were the only overnighters. on the lake. Highly recommended. the map shows a trail crossing over the lake outlet and heading up the valley but I think the high water level has flooded it out for now.

Gorgeous hike. A little tough in spots for younger kids but plenary of shady spots to catch your breath.

What a gorgeous hike! Steep first section but beautiful trail with Aspens mixed in with red rock and the view of Sylvan Lake. We reached snow at 1.7 miles into the hike that became almost impassable. We couldn’t tell where the trail went. It was at least 4 feet deep still in some places. Give this one a few weeks yet!

This is mostly for mountain biking.

A lot of driftwood but great views when you reach the top of the mountain. Easy to follow path.

Love to start this hike after a drive in to the Peter Estin hut. Get all the best parts of the hike including the crossing of the iron edge on top with spectacular views across the mountains. Lake Charles is beautiful when you get to it and the fishing is a fun diversion. One of our favorites!!

I hiked this today and it was absolutely gorgeous! The trail had steady incline to the turn around. The perfect hike if you only have two hours to spare.

overall a great trail. Some shade and lots of rocks early on and opens up nicely. mainly dry with a few sorts spots. Couldn't complete trail as mapped out.

Just did this hike today! It was beautiful! The trail was a little soft and muddy at time, but, overall, it was in good condition. Part of the trail is closed, but you can just turn around. I’m hoping the other half will be open soon!

Easy to follow trail but with lack of tree cover, it will likely be toasty during the summer. I Went clockwise and had no issues with bikers sneaking up on me. Fun little hike.

All Went Eagle and Hardscrabble and Eagle Ranch trails are closed until May 1st....wished someone that actually lived in Eagle would have posted this.

Until May 1st - forced to leave rating. will adjust upon completion.

Easy hike. Too many mountain bikers

I would recommend this trail because of it’s amazing downhill which included many great jumps

Muddy and/or soft snow. had to turn back a couple miles up the trail.

Fun hike overall with a variety of conditions. if you plan on doing the entire 6 mile hike, be sure to pack along some snowshoes. A good mix of dry, with mud, and snow/ice for the first 2 miles. after that all snow and it's not packed enough for hiking shoes as of yet. Polls would have been helpful as well. Fun spring time hike.

Great trail for running. Endless opportunity once you make it up the Boneyard. Redneck Ridge, Pool & Ice, Dirt Surfer, and Bellyache Rd will all get you back to town at different distances. Fun place to go for a long wander. Very dry, pack water, etc.

Trail stops half mile in. Bush watching from that point on with no real way of knowing where trail goes...

We looked up this trail after randomly discovering it while walking near LEDE reservoir. We had a nice stroll for about a mile and a half, moderate uphill, but beautiful with the fall colors and aspens. After the mile and a half the trail became kind of unclear so we turned around but it was a beautiful little hike. Took about an hour up and 40 minutes back with our dog. Saw two animal skeletons, maybe cows?

Close to home. Nice quick workout with a few thrills ta-boot.

There was my first hiking in my life. Out of my shape, 49 years hold, 24 pounds backpack and ambition made finish. Actually, having a friend with me who made it before was the key. If I knew how hard it gonna be I would prepare myself before hit the mountain. Once we got there, I felt energized due to the magnificent view. The lake is incredible beautiful, quiet and bright. During 3 days I never got tired to see that surrounded Lake by mountains. Feel like all the place is yours, since it’s not easy getting there. We and maybe 5 parties were there for camping overnight and maybe 10 other parties just went there and returned on the same day. We explored other small lakes located about 1 hour far from lake Charles which kept us in motion. If you like natural and beautiful things I strongly recommend it, just prepare yourself for the endurance!
