Love this hike! Soooooo gorgeous with the gold & red & green leaves falling! Beautiful year round!

Did with baby and dog - challenging but doable.

Beautiful trail and awesome weather

Nice trail! I would definitely do this one again. Just getting used to altitude. It was perfect for that. Lots of people on the trail for a Monday morning.

The trail is 3 miles from the parking lot to the top. The last .8 miles from the fork is really steep. Beautiful views when you get there.

It was a challenge but it was worth it. Wow it view tho!

Steady climb up but the view at the top is more than worth the effort. Great short hike with lots of brilliant yellow Aspens. RT was ~3.5 hours with plenty of time at the top for lunch and water for hiking companion, Daisy the Wonder Dog. Trail is shaded ~75% of the hike. Recommended hike near Durango.

One of the best hikes with a views near Durango.

Spectacular view from the top. Good workout going up the trail.

Nice hike for kids and dogs. Lots of trees and shade.

One of my favorite hikes in the Durango area. We did it today and were thrilled to see very little fire damage. You’ll work to get to the top but the views are well worth the effort.

Trail is open as of 09/01/18. Great hike! Easy to navigate. Great views! Took us a little over 3 hours from start to finish including stopping for photos.

Nice views, super easy level trail. Our almost 3 year old "hiked" it with us. Like walking on the sidewalk in Durango but with nice views.

The app says it is a loop but there are so many forks in the road we ended up just wandering through the woods and not getting anywhere. There are no signs to indicate which path the "loop" is on. It was still a nice hike but definitely better ones around.

Very short, fairly level paved trail. For someone who isn’t used to the attitude or just wants some spectacular views of Durango but doesn’t want to hike a difficult trail, this is the one.

great covered trail with water nearby. lots of switchbacks. bench at the top to observe overlook.

No shade or water, but nice open space on a cooler day.

I love the view!! Truly amazing!

Great hike. Beautiful stream filled with trout. Went on a Sunday, so saw lots of hikers and bikers. Bikers were incredibly polite and friendly. Many dogs, none of them leashed. A considerable amount of dog crap on the trail and many bags of crap left along the trail....which were there when we hiked up, and still there four hours later when we got down.

Tried hitting the trail today(8/19/18) and it’s closed due to the 416 fire and mudslides.... bummer

Pros: 70% shade
Cons: no signage, manure everywhere, no cave access— walked by 3 times, but never found, no good views.

Trail from upper trailhead to Gudy’s rest, 6 miles RT. Generally easy. Good trail. Encountered deer & a few hikers, dogs & mountain bikers along the way. Shaded. Great views @ top.

I don’t think this is a hard trail. We did it on a Sunday morning. We passed 34 mountain bikers and nine hikers. A lot of shade, a good well marked trail. Took us 3 hours; about 9 miles total from the parking area and back. We went to the right. Counterclockwise was better with the bikers coming the other way.

Beautiful - we crossed the creek and went up He west side to the waterfall - about 9.5 miles round trip from the parking lot. Road to parking is very rough and it is further in than you think.

Beautiful views!!!

8 miles of shaded trail. Lots of hikers, dogs, and bikers were on the trail. Gudy’s Rest was easy to find and the view was pretty.

This is a great hike along the creek with a minimal elevation increase over the first 2.5 miles up to the point where the switchbacks start. A majority of the trail has shade on it so even in the heat of the day, it is a comfortable hike. Also, this hike is great for someone acclimating to the elevation gain.

This is a popular hike due to its proximity to Durango and we saw quite a few people and dogs and bikes on the trail although it was not overly crowded on a Tuesday late morning.

Beautiful lake - the trail could use some better markings - it is easy to wander off but overall a good portion of shade and relatively flat.

Hiked out to the bridge over Engine Creek on Cascade Creek East Fork trail. Beautiful hike was a little over 6.2 miles out and back from where I parked Jeep.
