Love this hike! Soooooo gorgeous with the gold & red & green leaves falling! Beautiful year round!

Did with baby and dog - challenging but doable.

Nice hike for kids and dogs. Lots of trees and shade.

The app says it is a loop but there are so many forks in the road we ended up just wandering through the woods and not getting anywhere. There are no signs to indicate which path the "loop" is on. It was still a nice hike but definitely better ones around.

Pros: 70% shade
Cons: no signage, manure everywhere, no cave access— walked by 3 times, but never found, no good views.

Beautiful - we crossed the creek and went up He west side to the waterfall - about 9.5 miles round trip from the parking lot. Road to parking is very rough and it is further in than you think.

Beautiful views!!!

Beautiful lake - the trail could use some better markings - it is easy to wander off but overall a good portion of shade and relatively flat.

Hiked out to the bridge over Engine Creek on Cascade Creek East Fork trail. Beautiful hike was a little over 6.2 miles out and back from where I parked Jeep.

Trail is very pleasant but could have better markings. Great for day hiking with family or pets.

Very nice trail. Difficult to navigate. Lots of beautiful scenery, a couple waterfalls, cool mining site. Lots of shade. Worth the trek. This is also a horse trail so watch out for horse poo.

We did this walk with kids (both under 10) and found it fairly easy. Most of the trail is nice - unremarkable - but nice enough. The sections along the creek are pretty and the trees provide a bit of shade on a hot day. The kids also liked the old mine and other remains along the trail.
We did not do the section that over looks the lake.

nice trail . finding only 6.2 miles to waterfall. Road very rough r we commend 4x4 or high clearance.

We connected to this trail from the Cascade Village townhomes, where we are staying. This was a quiet trail - didn’t come across any other people. But be on the lookout and prepared- we did see a mama bear and a cub. The creek was beautiful and I loved all the flowers and butterflies on the hike. The route we took had great views of Engineer Mountain!

Shady trail. The first part is great because you hike near a creek and come across an old mine. Trail isn’t marked well so it was a bit hard to navigate. Bring your lunch and enjoy it overlooking the lake!

Great hot weather hike! Very serene with some short interval hills. Much of the hike is tree covered for great shade.

Enjoyable hike to relax along the creek. We had to cut it short with impending thunderstorms though.

Wonderful hike. There are 3 falls. The first is at the bridge, the second is off the trail where trail splits. Take the trail to the left, and the third is again on the left where the trail opens up in the large meadow. I missed the last two heading up but found them on the way down.

Loved this trail! Perfect if you’re looking for a simple day-hike. Only negative is the trail isn’t marked very well, in my opinion. We will definitely be back.

Not marked well

Absolutely stunning and completely empty this time of year (April) . There were a lot of trees down but only one was hard to navigate around. Definitely a favorite!

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!! Great trail difficult with snow and ice in areas but still amazing! We took one trail up and a different one back crossing the creek on top of logs and rocks. It was so quiet and peaceful only seen one other biker. When we reached the falls with it was an amazing site the combination of snow, ice, and rushing water was worth every step. This was my first Colorado hike but won’t be my last. Thank you Colorado

I have heard great things about these falls and have seen some cool winter pictures so I decided to try this while down in Durango for a long weekend. Started at 10am with perfect sunny weather. I had to park just off 550 since the road to the trailhead / lot was covered in snow. The trail started off fine, snowy but not bad. After a couple miles the snow started to get deeper and deeper. I gave up probably 4 miles in because the snow was deep and the only tracks were cross country ski's. The entire creek was covered in snow. Not really any good views at all. Would recommend waiting until spring/summer/fall for this one to see the water flowing.

I gave 4 stars because I have seen great pictures of the falls and plan to try again in a couple months.

I enjoyed this trail in the fall for the colors. The best view is really from the road/edge of the lake before you drive to the trailhead. From here the mountain reflects off of the water. There is parking right at the trailhead and also parking earlier than that where the trail intersects the road.

We went on a Sunday late morning, and saw no one on the trail - just a couple fisherman on the lake. There are several different routes you can take for a shorter or longer hike.

A beautiful multi-use trail which was a rewarding experience. For hiking, it was as easy as I could have wished for. There were mountain bikers, a few ATVs, and a couple of dirt bikes however all were very courteous with anyone on the trail. The adjacent stream was nice.

Great trail, the only obstacle was horse poop all along the trail. But otherwise: beautiful, parts dramatic, parts sweet and bright. I would consider this trail easy, comparing to the Purgatory one.

Great hike, I would say more easy than moderate. Mosquitos were everywhere, only bothered you when stopped. Lots of horses & poop to go along with them. Nice waterfall & very covered forest.
Definitely worth it.

The most beautiful trail. So fun to getaway from society. We just went past cross creek and came back. Took about three hours.

Very horse beaten trail but the waterfall and creek stop about 2/3 in (counter) makes it worth it.
