We hiked this after a Lake Dillon kayak trip. It was the perfect trail to get a good view of the whole lake and range, as well as impending storms. Wildflowers and awesome views the whole way.

We hiked partway up this trail on July 6. We got on this trail from Peru Creek, which is a gravel road. We hiked 2 miles up the road first- don't do that if you don't have to. We should've driven up and parked.
The trail is steep at first, but travels through some interesting landscapes of pine, boulders, and an aspen grove. We only made it to the first viewpoint, a big bowl looking out over the reservoir and valley. Very worth it, though. Next time I'd like to make it above treeline.
The only traffic we ran into was mountain bikers coming downhill from A-Basin. Some of the curves are pretty sharp, so keep an ear and an eye out for everyone's safety. Some footing was loose and dusty, so wear sturdy footwear.

We hiked this on July 6. We went into this aware that it is a gravel road. We didn't see many cars, but it definitely would be more efficient to just drive up as far as you can. We went partway up the Lenawee Trail off of the road.
There were some pretty epic views, but for my money I'd drive up next time and get farther on Lenawee.

Our family of 5 (parents and kids age 12,13, and 16) hiked this trail our first day in Dillon. We live on the east coast, at sea level, and this was a great hike for us as we acclimated to the altitude. Beautiful scenery and surprisingly great views/ scenic overlooks. I'm not in great shape, and stopped occasionally on the steeper parts of the trail for some water, but this trail was perfect for us!

I love this one!! I’ve done it twice. Both times, very lightly trafficked, peaceful, serene. Beautiful flowers and breathtaking views all the while and definitely rewarding toward the top. A consistently gradual incline, not too tough!

Delightful moderate hike above the treeline. Outstanding vistas. Last cairn is a throne!

I was blown away by the views of this hike! There’s actually three ponds, if you go out a bit past the first one and the views from there are amazing! It’s super short and there’s not really any hills. Good for families with kids and for those not able to do much hiking but still want to see some crazy good views.

Breathtakingly beautiful and easy. We wanted a short little hike before dinner and boy did this location deliver. Gorgeous views 360 degrees. Make sure you hike out to the third pond!

Overall great workout! Minimally crowded for a Saturday hike. Start at 4wd road 263 and continue about 2 miles until you see a brown post with “no motor vehicles” labeled on it. At this point take a left to follow the trail. From there you just continue on that trail until you hit the lake. The last 0.5mile is pretty steep but totally manageable, even for dogs! Definitely worth the work to get up there. If you go to the lake and back it is around 8.2miles, the red trail on the all trails map goes into the gulch not to the lake.

Great hike. Saw a couple trucks driving up Chihuahua road, we hiked just as fast. Water was low so no wet feet for us. Pretty views the whole way, lots of different kinds of wildflowers. Not busy!!!

Did this in the evening around sunset. Absolutely INCREDIBLE at that time. We stayed late and could see the Milky Way!

Great trail, stunning views!

Fantastic short hike for flatlanders staying at keystone and wanting to get away from the hustle of Summit County. Breathtaking views , clear water and wildlife.

Easy, yes, but very pretty. As someone else said, the perfect short hike.

Beautiful views and wildflowers. Challenged my lungs on the way up till opened into beautiful meadow with wildflowers and amazing views.

Much better than hiking up or down a ski hill like most of the tourists do while in town.

Perfect hike if you’re just 13 weeks post op from your ACL surgery! The leg coming out of Montezuma is more of a footpath....shady and forested vs segment leaving from the Peru Creek turnoff which is just a dirt road.

Beautiful! During the weekend, you’ll probably run into a large group of Jeep’s hitting radical hill.

Views were simply amazing! Makes for a great loop. Not congested. Very few truly technical spots.

We took the Rubicon here. What a beautiful place! I must admit there are some areas where lockers are needed so be prepared for that.

tough hike up to the lake but worth it.

Great little pass. There is a creek crossing that can be deep, though I've always seen it in reasonable shape.

The switchback have had some maintenance since I last ran it and are much less intimidating. There is little room for passing, so if you know someone is coming, be kind and pull over at a switchback and let them through. Backing up on a shelf road isn't ideal for many people.

All that said... beautiful area. Once the snow melts on the Red cone exit that is also a fun ride down.

The whole trail is currently passable.
