Just right hike with a stunning ending. The rocks are vast and lots of photo options. Some scree going down - we saw kids fall, but otherwise the perfect fall hike!

My husband and I enjoyed the hike last year, and went again this year with our 7 month old. Plan to look at the weather forecast before heading out, typically starting before 11 is better, to beat thunderstorms that may role in later. It does get chilly going up in elevation so wear layers, for you and any little guys going up. We always come across a variety of hiking groups for birding, small families with kids, families with dogs, couples, and solo hikers usually with a dog. Enjoy!!

Start early. Be careful of the afternoon storms. This is a great hike!

Directions are great, but it is about 4.8 miles total. One of our favorite hikes! I would rate it as easy-moderate. We did not encounter the barbwire fence mentioned previously. Watch the trail carefully so that you don't get off track. Make sure you watch for the trail to curve first to the left, then about a third of the way up, it goes off to the right.

The trail map is inaccurate and there is barbwire fence at the trail head. You have to take Ring the Peak trail (not shown on All Trails) which connects to this one, but as you complete the loop you end up on the wrong side of a barbwire fence with Keep Out signs.

Fun hike, but not much water currently. Highlight was a female Northern Shoveler with her babies in a pool along the trail.

Anne Marie falls is a very short spur off of ring the peak trail
there's a sign indicating the turnoff

This trail offers a nice north slopes alternative to Barr Trail for getting back down to Barr Camp. But you have to hitch a ride from the summit down to the trailhead. You won't see many other hikers on this trail.

Great place to go on a Wednesday morning had it all to myself Awesome views Would definitely go back

We did this hike in June. Falls were frozen but beautiful. Make sure to bring bug spray!

It's 4.3 miles from the road. all up hill but beautiful view at the top. 9.21 miles round trip tho go early.

Not really a “moderate” ascent trail - I would rate this as DIFFICULT. Had a difficult time following the trail, as indicated on the AllTrails app - not marked or demarcated above Horsethief Falls, so plan to just stay next to the stream. We didn’t do this, initially, we were about 10-20 yards away, and it was near vertical, pretty much class 3 moves to do the last mile out of the forest. Needless to say, by the time we got almost out of the trees, we were too tired to complete the summit, and turned around. Much easier coming down, but still a little tricky in areas of near vertical, lots of scree. I wouldn’t recommend this as an ascent trail. .

Trail was mostly clear, did see mountain lion tracks so be advised. Lovely views, steep climb up to the Pancake Rocks.

Very good!

Great hike! Beautiful forest hike with some views. However, if you continue up the trail further and break out of the trees, views galore!

Approach trail is uneventful, but cool rock formations and beautiful views at the end. No spikes or snowshoes needed as of Feb 2 -- there were about 2 inches of snow but it was packed down pretty good.

The trail moves through Spruce and Fir forest and into Aspen groves as you get higher. At the end of the trail you are met with great views and spectacular rock formations. Trail 360 on YouTube

Beautiful area. Lots of different types of mushrooms, guessing due to all the rain we got this year. Camping spots near the falls and in the open meadow. Recommend going to the meadow which is also a creek.

We did this trail last week and it was great. First portion of the trail is uphill so be prepared. The waterfall and creek were great areas for the kids to explore.

Great trail! Family and dog friendly, but younger children should be in a pack. Be aware that the trail starts at a high elevation and gains elevation quickly at the start. A lot of foot traffic on this trail too.

This trail was absolutely beautiful. My husband and I picked this for our first time backpacking in Colorado. The altitude gain was a bit much for us low-landers from Portland, Oregon, who hadn't taken time to acclimate first, but with a few rests we did just fine. We got started a little late in the day, but found a great camping spot near Maja falls, and finished out the rest of the hike the following day.

This post is not correct. It is six or 7 miles to bar camp via this route and then another 6 miles to the top of Pike's Peak. Beware!

We were so excited for this trail! But we only got up two switchbacks before we had to turn around due to ice. March is not the time for this trail sadly. We'll catch this one next time we're back in Colorado Springs!

First hike in CO, couple of flat-landers. Terrific scenery and a few obvious sites for back country camping. The last mile or so is on a dirt road, leading to the crags trailhead (parking lot and restrooms). From there, you can continue on to the crags, up raspberry Mt. After some uphill, moderately trafficked trail, there is a fork in the path to Devils playground/pikes peak.
