Moderately easy trail will several mounting/valley look out points. Group was hungover and we made it around the entire loop with minimal stops.

awesome hike allot of incline if you haven't been hiking in awhile it's definitely a workout, we did happen to find the secret path thanks to a previous picture posted once you see the angled arrow marker and downed tree look for small foot path to your left, it's a good half mile or so uphill from there but it all becomes worthwhile when you get to the top and get that gorgeous view. would definitely do it again.

Trail is close to Denver and right off 285 so it’s easy to get to. I was tired after a weekend hike so this was a perfect moderate hike. If you just do the trail as marked I would call this more an upper easy hike. If you take the “secret” trail to the top it’s moderate. Took me two loops of the Old Ski Loop trail to find the secret summit trail. It is NOT the first one you come to where to go up about 100 feet to a cluster of rocks with a partial view. I searched around there for a while. It’s above that on the marked trail (if you went left to right on the loop). I added a picture with markings. You won’t see the “no trespassing” sign someone else referenced until after you are already on the trail (and even then it’s off in the distance and you have to look for it). The trail to the summit is pretty well marked as someone has lined quite a bit of it with old tree branches. There are times you will question if you went the right way. Trust your gut...it’s a pretty intuitive trail. Don’t get fooled by the first false summit with good views. Keep going until you find the top and the geo markers and register. It’s probably less than .5 mile from the Old Ski Loop trail so it’s worth it. Someone should bring a new little notepad for the register and a new pen. Both are running low! Gorgeous views from the top and TONS of ladybugs. This will be a great trail for fall with the Aspens along it.

Pretty easy going trail, great for out of towners or a quick hike if you have other plans in the afternoon. We did this trail on the 4th of July and it wasn't too crowded. Also yes there is a dead horse but we thought it was interesting, so to us this trail will forever be known as the dead horse trail.

Nice simple trail. Good escape for cooler temperatures than Denver, but can be pretty warm too. Lots of trees trail and great for dogs.

Loved the hike. Easy enough for most people. Some sunny spots but a lot of in/out of trees. Pretty scenery towards the end and before the falls. Lots of mountain bikers hit this trail because of its so maintained by Parks services.

What a VIEW! Breathtaking. The hike was steep going up via Ravens but beautiful... and we sat and took in that view for a while.

This is a great getaway from Denver, this loop is nice and one should connect to the waterfall trailhead. Bikers were more in numbers than hikers.

Beautiful trail!! will add to my favorites.

Saw hummingbird s

Really pretty. Found the trail to the mountain. It was tricky - top of the ski loop on the left side. It’s kind of hard to find - just a little dirt path off into the trees with some branches across the beginning. It is above the trail that goes up to the rocks - that was where I went and circled back. So beautiful!!!!!!

Awesome trail before we finally gave in to the storm following us and turned around at the Pikes Peak overlook. Gorgeous views there and all the way up to it

A friend and I started at 7am on Sunday. We stayed right on this trail and came down though the trees as the day warmed up. The horse was not stinky at all when we were right by it, but down wind/down trail about 5 steps....whoaaaaaNellie....holy stank!!!! Definitely still hold your breath as you pass it. Great hike otherwise :)

This was pretty but we couldn’t finish the loop because we ran out of water. No water source for the dogs. Made it to one of the breaks in trees to see a view. Will definitely go back to finish. When it’s not so hot! Dead horse doesn’t smell so bad anymore. Sad to see though.

This was a good hike for my friends from out of town.

Perfect for a quick 4 miles or so. Beautiful

Nice hike if you’re on a short time frame. It’s also kid friendly.

Great easy trail. Will come back with grandkids.

Oxen Draw has a decomposing horse just off the path. (Makes you wonder what happened!) There were signs alerting trail users of potentially increased wildlife. Mostly just the smell and flies’ abundance were noticeable.
Oxen draw was narrow, shady, rocky, and noticeably sloped. Ravens Roost was wide, more like an off-road trail for vehicles. The views were worth the climb though.
Trail is well marked, but on a Sunday afternoon, lightly trafficked. (No complaints from me!)
A few other dogs out there as well.

View is beautiful at the top. A lot of uphill. Very clean. Our 3 year old tackled this hike.

First time on this trail today. Took my 3 year old daughter & labradoodle today. We started on the Oxen trail & onto Eagle View trail. After weighing our options after reading all the Dead Horse signs, we decided to go for it. We passed the dead horse which is off the trail & somewhat covered up in the ditch to the right of the trail. We scurried by & didn’t smell a thing. Steady incline on way up. Lovely bits of shade & sun on a mostly dirt & sand trail. There are areas of rock but not overwhelmingly.

The views at the top are beautiful. It’s a bit steep on the way down. I was giving my daughter a ride on my shoulders most of the hike - up & down- so I was a bit nervous on way down.

We saw lots of wildflowers & butterflies! Even saw a deer in the wooded portion. We’ll be back!

We had to park about 2 miles from this hike. We asked the park person who was in charge of taking money for parking, where this trail was and she replied, "never heard of it". Thank you gps. I don't recommend this trail if you're not prepared to feel your lungs burn, get tears welling up from the beautiful view or if you don't have walking sticks. (we didn't have walking sticks, highly recommend the $20 spending on some). I got proposed to at the very top if this mountain. He did this as I was panting and tearing up from the view. Great hiking trail, along with the most gorgeous view.

Great after work hike. Pretty steep in the beginning if you take a right where the loop starts, but a good workout. incredible views once you get a little bit further than the halfway point. I went solo and there is no service so it’s the perfect way to escape and unplug for a couple of hours. I saw a few other people but generally light traffic for a weekday afternoon.

Saw a bear!

Nice hike, good workout and great views. We did this on a Wednesday night and only saw two other folks- great weeknight escape from the city heat. There was an advisory sign still posted for the horse but if you follow the route outlined on this site you wont pass it. Elkhorn to Ravens to Eagles View at the top and then it loops you back to Ravens to head down.

Arrived about 10am on a Saturday, still plenty of spots in the parking lot. I would say it was light to moderate hiking traffic, there were times you wouldn’t see someone for a while so it was nice! Definitely more of a moderate than easy level hike simply because of the elevation gain. The Oxen portion of the trail had a dead horse on it according to some signage so I re-routed and went up to the right, up Ravens, and up to Eagle, then cut across to ravens again to avoid the horse and any potential predators etc.

The View from the top of eagle was amazing, way better than I expected, and when you come up from the right you don’t see it until you are at the very top so it’s more shocking and aw-inspiring that way!

Not a ton of shade from the trees but enough to take breaks in. Basically until you get to the top of Eagle it is uphill so be prepared for a workout. Would definitely recommend

Great hike- steep climb at the beginning and beautiful views at the top. The horse is covered now so walk quickly and you’ll pass it just fine. We encountered lots of aggressive horseflies

Hiked Ravens to Eagle to Ox, the initial rise during ravens was steep, but the trail was wide and clear. The view from Eagle was worth it. The descent offered a more decent view and a heavily forested trail in Ox. The loop can be completed for all ages and levels. All in all a good hike for a couple hours in the woods.

Great hike this morning. Stayed right out of the parking lot to avoid the dead horse on Oxen. First section is challenging but levels out at about halfway and it’s just an awesome trail. Just enough to get a good workout in!

Eagles View> Ravens Roost

Went last weekend. Easy trail - no drastic uphill climbs. Views and scenery were wonderful. Not too crowded either!
