Overall a decent trail. Easy stroll for everyone. Nothing special to it but still a good recommendation

Started at the Buffalo Mesa Trailhead and did a loop south along Second Creek trail under 104th ave bridge through the open space to the bridge under 96th ave and back to the trailhead. Lots of prairie dogs, lots of birds hanging around chirping away. A few other runners and dog walkers but quiet for the most part. I think the city is trying to green up the area as most of it is open prairie and some dirt/scrub areas. Wide, open, and flat trail to run, walk, or bike along near all the neighborhoods and shopping centers.

My husband and I completed this hike on April 7.

This is a flat, quick trail around a duck pond, essentially. It was fun to be near the water and check out the wildlife. Most interesting part is the bridge where you cross the water for a couple hundred feet! Easy, short hike that would be enjoyable for kids or seniors.

My husband and I completed this hike on April 7, 2018.

The trail is easy.... just a flat two miles around the reservoir. We enjoyed the educational plaques and the telescopes. During our hike we saw mule deer and a variety of birds. The gray, cloudy day, combined with the charred burned areas surrounding the path made this a less-than-ideal time of year for hiking this trail. Still, there was beauty to be found in the long yellow grasses, the occasional patch of orange reeds, and the stillness of the water.

Nice and easy hike. A couple of very small beaches along the lake. Family friendly, popular trail.

Really nice flat loop through the open prairie of the wildlife arsenal. Saw a beautiful rainbow and sunset, lots of deer and birds to be seen as well.

Super nice, well-maintained walking trail and boardwalk along one side of Barr Lake. Highly recommend for an easy stroll with nice views and lots of birds.

Really nice walking trail around the lake and through the marshes almost at water level. Saw bison, deer, rabbits, prairie dogs, owl, herons, egrets, woodpeckers, and lots more.

Nice walking trail around lakes, marsh, and open prairie. Super quiet in the evening. Saw bison, great horned owl, great blue heron, cormorants, deer, prairie dogs and more!!

Trail head not clearly marked, also lack of signs within refugee to find parking. Multiple road closures not helpful to start. That being said the Lake is beautiful!

Flat, pretty, plenty of wildlife for so close to the city - a few bison, a ferret in the display area, waterfowl that aren't native to the area, and dozens of chirruping prairie dogs. They area is currently in a controlled burn program, so many of the fields are black, one still smoking, and a few where the green sprouts are pushing up past the char ... very striking. No pets! When I walked it on Saturday just after noon, there were few other hikers, so I'm not sure about the "heavily trafficked" description. There are quite a variety of trails, so you can do a very short or a very long hike. I hiked the outer loop and then went off trail and made a two hour hike of it.

NO DOGS!! It's posted... arguably in plain view. Ignorance almost got us.
