Hidden gem amongst the metropolis . Different ecosystems and zones to explore . Barely anyone at the visitor center which was elaborate for the size of this refuge. Had the whole trail to ourselves with a mix of hot spots of sun, chilly winds and plenty of time to reflect and observe the wetlands around us. Bring a lunch or snack , I promise you’ll find a lovely place to enjoy it and hopefully someone . Even came across a family of deer grazing on their dinner . The species of birds are stellar to say the least . Caught a glimpse of the autumn colors and anglers towards the end/beginning of the trail . Highly recommend if you want to escape for your lunch break in the city for a bit of solitude during the weekday 11Oct2019

I do all my 20 mile plus runs on this trail. I enjoy the solitude. While there are bikers and other runners, they are few and far between.

Easy walk from the visitor center in Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. The Discovery Trail connects to the Legacy Trail after 0.4 miles.

Flat and quite sunny. there are a few trees for shade close to the trail on the South side of the lake but not much elsewhere. Mostly stroller-friendly except for a couple hundred metres in the North-East side (overgrown weeds).

What a lovely location. A small group of seniors from Broomfield took the Ladora Lake Loop trail. One of our members is wheelchair bound (electric), she said it was a little challenging in a spot or two but rest was great. The day was partly cloudy which made it comfortable for a late August hike; in full sun it would not have been so pleasant. There were no bugs to speak of, which surprised us given some other reviewers. If you haven't been here before suggest you first stop at the visitor center and get a quick bit of the history - definitely enhances your enjoyment of this beautiful open space.

Hiked Sunday July 7, 2019 This trail was ok. It was really hot the day we went and there is only shade on one little part of the trail. There were clouds of bugs. It is an easy flat hike but nothing great to see and really no great views. There were a lot of people there on a Sunday afternoon in July. This trail was nothing special and the lake is not very large. I guess if you want an easy flat hike and don’t mind eating bugs, this will work for you.

We were here on Sunday July 7, 2019 and couldn’t do the loop due to large parts of the trail being under construction. Where we could walk was an easy flat boring walk without any great views. It was hot the day we hiked and there is NO SHADE for most of the walk. I do not recommend it. Bird sightings? I don’t think a single duck really counts.

This trail is easy and great for beginners or people who need an easy trail. There are good fishing spots with benches and shade. Most of the trail does not offer shade. It is not an accessible trail for strollers or wheelchairs.

small little lake, currently getting some work done on it. mainly people fishing. I wouldn't spend my time here, but it connects to a few other trails and as a whole the trails are beautiful. lots of birds and cool bugs to see.

Nice trail, a lot of bugs but that’s not a huge deal. Very pretty landscape. People were fishing on the lake (catch and release). Relatively quiet area.

Had a nice little hike around 5:00 this afternoon out to the gazebo. Lots of pelicans, ducks, geese (some with goslings, learning to swim), many songbirds, a fox and a bull snake, who was sunning himself in the middle of the trail. If you head out this way, be sure to take your binoculars... from the gazebo, there's a clear, albeit distant, view of an eagle's nest, where we could see an eaglet being fed by it's mother. There was another bald eagle sitting near the nest. It flew off shortly after we started watching and didn't return while we were there. The mayflies are beginning to come out in force... if you keep moving, they aren't too problematic... but standing still, they are quite annoying.

Lovely loop for birders. We did end up walking around the entirety of the lake, but this stretch had the most birding opportunities. There are a few wildlife viewing stations along the way, but aside from that there's no shade. The mayflies are also out and about.
