Definitely not for new to intermediate hikers. I decided to knock this out quick, but wasn’t quick at all +2K in climbing in 1.5 miles with extremely loose rock wasn’t fun at all. I recommend actual trail shoes and maybe poles. If you wear regular sneakers, I hope you like falling and the taste of dirt. Awesome views, however, the trail it’s marked or maintained well. I had to download the map beforehand and use it quite frequently, it was pretty annoying.

Breath-taking views at several points along the way. Was a bit of a steep scramble at the end but worth it. The overwhelming quiet was what struck me the most.

Guys, DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH SEVEN FALLS! For one, this is free. Also, I had much more fun here.
Keep going up the mountain/road after Helen Hunt falls and you will see a huge parking lot. Go west through the gated dirt road and then after 0.7 mi (according to GPS/Fitbit) you will see the 622 post. My husband and I had fun taking pictures at every bridge we hit. I really enjoyed this hike. From the parking lot to the end of bridge 7 and back, my Fitbit clocked 3.47 mi.
There seems to be paths everywhere, but remember the whole path is along the creek. If you think you’re getting too far away from the creek, you probably are.

This is definitely a great trail. but if you are hiking all the way to the falls it is not moderate. and yes it is longer than stated. beautiful vistas.

make sure to get there early! also we had some trouble finding the signs haha but it overall was absolutely gorgeous and very nice.

I ended up taking the Palmer Trail today almost by accident. I was at a corner trying to decide, if I should go down towards Red Rock Canyon or up the Palmer Trail. A trail runner came by and encouraged me to go up, take it slow and enjoy the views. So I did. I questioned my sanity going up the rocky side since I live in the Austin,TX area and on 1000ft. But by the time I got to the top with taking a break on the uphill, I was sold on this trail. This trail is what I have missed since moving from the area 11 years ago. I liked the challenge going up the rocky part, sitting and taking it all in at the top, the views on the longer downhill slope. To me it was the perfect trail to celebrate reaching 2000 miles of hiking for the year today. PS: For those that have problem with finding the trail they are on: turn on the alltrails app, pull up the trail you want to hike and the location on your phone and the blue dot will tell you where you are...  I never lost reception on this trail, plus it is NOT hard to follow once you start on the rocky incline...  I would like to add that the longer downhill part is easy or moderate, but that rocky incline was probably somewhere between moderate and hard!!!!

Great trail. Lots of scenery, wild flowers and birds. Quiet.

Pretty hike with very good views from the top (particularly given the short length of the trail), appropriately rated as moderate. My GPS tracked closer to 4 miles though.

Beautiful waterfalls.

great trail, ride, views. just an fyi I'm new to mountain biking and a part of section 16 is listed as hard very accurately...I had to walk my bike down for a lot of the switchbacks and rockier parts. Even with that, highly recommend

Easy hike with kids (ages 4-7), fun rock formations for them to check out, lots of folks with dogs out and about.

Gorgeous

Hiked the trail a few weeks ago. I thought it was really lovely- with some pretty stunning views of the evergreen-covered hills and a very nice, small waterfall with wood bridge. The first half or so was somewhat steep, but the descent was a really nice grade.

Great for dogs. Fairly well trafficked.

Fun, pretty

Love the coolness of the trails through the forest. The bridges are pretty well maintained. The views are amazing.

One of my favorite places to go and walk around.

gorgeous views from the top and great for fast running back down. last 1/2 mile up to the summit is a bit challenging but worth the twists and turns!

Great Hike, good variations of climbs, rocks, scenery. A hidden gem .

I completed this hike during the week in mid August 2018. The trail had a few people on it. I had heard that it was often crowded on the weekends. I hiked well past the seventh bridge staying within site of the creek. After I hiked across several steep sandy parts void of trees, I was in the trees again. I could see what I thought was the summit. The weather rolled in, it started to rain so I turned around and headed out. I will return to this trail again.

Great trail for a relatively easy hike.

Lots of people, but worth it because beautiful and unique rock formations. Make the trip if in the area. And it’s free.

good trail but I wouldn't say it's hard. it's more moderate. the climbs aren't too bad and it's not very crowded which is nice

Simple and straightforward hike. I would say it is very family friendly. Well shaded and cool with a creek flowing through. The area is extremely busy on the weekends.

I enjoyed this hike a lot, but I went with several kids who were 13 or younger who really struggled. This trail is fairly straight up and getting to the top isn’t the most rewarding of peaks/views. However, what I did love it about it were the trees, that my dog could be off leash, and that it wasn’t so crowded as many of the trails are. I would definitely do it again, but probably not with kids given it was so steep.

Great hike. My 12 year old killed it.

Beautiful hike and great way to start the day. It was a little more difficult about 1/2 way to the top but worth it. We loved walking along the creek - very peaceful!

Love this trail shaded and long uphill love it!

Easy going trail perfect for a quick and close hike. All skill levels, nice pond to sit by, trails clearly marked and well maintained.

Gorgeous! And easy with kiddos.
