Explore the most popular mountain biking trails near Castle Rock with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

The one good thing about this trail is that it’s paved so my kids were able to ride their bikes. But the second half of the path goes along busy roads, which isn’t very peaceful. We won’t be doing this trail again. I feel like we could’ve taken a quieter walk through our neighborhood.

This trial was a lot more difficult to navigate than I has expected so it recommend downloading the map! Will do next time. Very nice single track, not technical. There are a lot of up and down sections so it was a good workout!

Loved it! Beautiful views fun flowy single track. Some small fun rocky sections, one semi-hard one (w/option to bypass). I’m a flat pedaler/more of a downhill guy, so some of the climbs were killing me (lung-wise) and a little technical. Did the full outer 9miles, finished after dark. Can’t wait to do it again!!

great local hike if you take the switchback path, located off the north west section of the sidewalk. Look for the "trail" sign and it splits away from the bike paths. Once up the butte the terrain is mainly flat. Single file natural pathway throughout.

First ride on the new bike. First ride in 7 years. Great way to start on a fun ride. Fun ride.

Great trail to do with my two Golden’s

easy walk on a beautiful day, great view of Pikes as you stroll around. A bit muddy, but drying up as the morning went on. Don't really enjoy seeing houses and cars drive by as I on the trails. But nice enough.

Beautiful views!

Unexpectedly good.

Beautiful trail with stunning views of the mountains, forest, and a meadow. Mid-February trail conditions = 85-90% mud, slush, snow, ice, ice underneath snow, and ice rivers. The climb from Bear Creek to the campground is particularly rough requiring traversing off the trail due to the ice river flowing down the trail. There is no trail marker for 800 at the intersection with Ringtail. Take the downhill trail to the left of Ringtail. Some sites have this trail marked as dog friendly. Please note that there is a section where it skirts the west end of Roxborough State Park which doesn't allow dogs.

I completed the inner loop to this trail, starting on the Colorado Trail then keep making a right turn. Total is 7.7 miles with ~1,550ft elevation change. Very pretty but half of the trails were frozen rivers. I strongly advise staying on the Colorado trail then looping back south. The north bound trail that splinters off from the Colorado trail is badly eroded due to bikes. In many spots the trail was 2 feet deep and 1 foot wide.
I plan to complete the full loop shown here and update my review.

This is a trailhead to trailhead out and back run (ride, hike, trot, whatever) at Hidden Mesa Open Space. It's 6.66 miles with a healthy burst of elevation to climb back up the mesa. Short section of paved pathway (Cherry Creek Trail) to traverse near the Franktown-side trailhead. Given the mileage and how that burst of elevation feels on the return, I refer to it as Devil's Traverse (but apparently alltrails isn't on board with that...)

a few trails behind Castle Rock Zipline tours. not very sceenic being surrounded by roads.

This was a nice flat hike, very easy. OK view since it's residential properties' backyard area.

This is our neighborhood trail and I feel so lucky! Beautiful, easy trail for leisurely walking and relaxing.

The stairs are amazing!

Beautiful trails on 6500-7500 mostly in the forest with some views. Navigation is easy after the first snow, just follow the mountain bike traces. Most of the incline happens towards the end, so pace yourself carefully.

Here is the link to the full trail system at miller park. AllTrails does not have the listing for the Purple and Gold trail.
http://www.crgov.com/DocumentCenter/View/9314
If you start directly across from the Core Plaza and stay on the outer loop until you meetup with the Purple loop, then run Purple, Gold, Green and Red (red is flat and easy). The entire run will provide a decent, not too difficult workout. Finish it off with an accent up Challenge hill. Also on the Northeast edge of the Gold trail you can take the pedestrian bridge across to "Ridgeline Open Space" trails (see AllTrails listing). After your run dip your head in the fountains and lay in the grass and relax a while.

Ran the loop today with the addition of the M to N loop on the far East side. Going clockwise, it's a gnarly little hill coming back up. Also, if your looking far a longer run at the bottom of the M to N loop there is a pedestrian bridge that connects to the Phillip S Miller park trails. There is a trail race " Castle Rock Trail Festival" that will include this trail - Oct 7. Good trail for training and easy to get to.

not crowded but not much of a challenge, shrubs and sparse views.

Nice trail. Easy to walk with great views. Saw my first rattlesnake. Walked up on it....didn't see it until it was 2 feet away. It started to coil and rattle. Lots of bikes on the trail but all were very courtesy. A few runners and other hikers as well. Pet and kid friendly.

Can't really call this a hike due to how short it is and I really wouldn't call it moderate either...more like easy. Great views and pretty flat once you get up to the top of the mesa. Would do this again for sure.

This is a great trail, with spectacular views from Pikes Peak to Wyoming. Nice, because it's so close to downtown Castle Rock. Great show Sunday morning, or even weeknight hike. This hike makes me leery of rattlesnakes, but haven't seen one in several years. Just keep your eyes to the ground. Also, if you want more mileage, just do the upper loop multiple times....views never get boring!

I was here early Saturday morning. Was quite and I think I was the only one hiking. Mostly brush , but also has some good views of the mountains. I would rate the hike as easy and I had a heavy pack on. Nice get away closer to town.

Decent enough trail. Great to start off your trail running training for beginners or starting up again. It is easy on the knees!

Solid trail and well marked. Definitely will get muddy come spring time. Saw quite a few deer and a pair of small bucks sparring. Had great Janruary weather with no wind, comfortable temp and overcast sky's. My major complaint is all the zip line set ups you walk by constantly along with the noise of city. All and all the pup and I enjoyed ourselves.
