Easy; no shade.

Great view

Definitely rewarding getting into the canyon! We had a rental car, and had to stop a mile+ from the actual trailhead (due to needing clearance/ road not being maintained) but once we found it, enjoyed the hike! Crossing through the creek wasn’t bad today, water ran just below my knee, and I’m about 5’4”. The ascent out of the canyon definitely kept the heart rate up, but went quickly. My Fitbit clocked in at 1.4 miles to the temple from the trail head. Happy hiking! :)

Very easy and very beautiful. Sounds of the river are lovely. Many places to stop and sit and take it all in. The tunnels make this trail very unique

Great short hike from an awesome campground! We had no idea it was there and were amazed by the temple at the end. Wading through the creek was fun, if not cold.

Great walk with the kids (under 5). As others said steep incline at the beginning but flat after. Not busy - saw runners, bikers and a stroller.

Great trail. Straight walk. Go through a cool tunnel. Over looks the Gorge river the entire walk. Beautiful scenery. Full sun in the summer time

We loved this trail. The views are breathtaking. It wasn’t busy at all for a sunny Sunday afternoon. We brought our pups and hiked the canyon rim trail.

Fun and scenic drive with nice views

Fun and easy in and out. Steep incline at the beginning, so keep that in mind.

Very good trail! A steep incline in the beginning is followed by flat terrain for the rest of the hike. The tunnels are really cool, and there are some good views along the way. I would definitely recommend this trail if you’re close to Cañon City.

Quick drive to the top and you get great views

It was so beautiful ! The beginning may be a tad steep for the elderly or the, not so active, folks.. but the flattens out and goes along the railroad track and river. Was a very easy, laid back hike. Bring water and stay hydrated on any trail!

Beautiful area and not very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Some of the trail had tree cover, sunscreen optional.

If you look at the recordings, you will noticed there are multiple tracks for this area. My recording is for the "Overlook Loop", which was amazing.

Very well maintained trail, Saturday morning parking lot was half-full. You can tell there has been many rock-slides on the trail...be careful.

Most of the trail is uncovered, sunscreen recommended.

Riverwalk very well maintained and an amazing trail. Could not believe it was not busy on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Some of the trail had tree cover, sunscreen optional.

There is more parking at the end of the trail-head east-side part, and also in the middle area.

If you follow the exercise stations, the trail follows along the Arkansas river. The other trail goes through a wooded area.

First 30 min or so is very steep, so make sure to take a slower pace. Elevation gain is high throughout, so unless you are challenging yourself, give plenty of time (at least 5 hours?) to get to the end and come back. I started at 2 pm and it was already getting dark by the time I hiked for 1 hour and 40 minutes up, so I had to turn around and come back. Coming down took around 1 hour, but it was much more slippery downhill, and I slipped numerous times on my sneakers. Make sure to bring lots of water (half a gallon, at least), snacks and good shoes unless you want some sliding fun time.

great little trail with awesome views.

Easy hike and gorgeous views.

Nice scenery and walk along the river.

An easy two miles up and another two back. beautiful views and cool tunnels!
