Boulder, Colorado Map

One of my favorite hikes. Beautiful and fun! you will see definitely be able to see wildlife there. Expect a bit of climbing. Great view at the top.

A great, easy trail with a gradual, gentle elevation gain and beautiful views. It is a multi-use trail shared with mountain bikers and horseback riders. If you are a hiker or walker, be prepared to yield for them. At times the trail is narrow, so passing one another can get tricky. I'd recommend forgoing the headphones so that you can hear bikers coming behind you. The day I went everyone was polite and respectful while navigating the shared trail.

My wife, son and I did this today. Outside of being hot, the trail was great. A lot of folks on the trail and a bunch at the arch itself taking photos.

This is a really nice trail if you're looking for a relaxing walk or hike. Paved and gravel paths are often used by cyclists, but a dirt path runs along a creek for walkers and trail runners. It's a popular trail for families with young kids or people with their dogs, but it never feels overly crowded. In spite of being on the east side of town, you still get nice views of the Flatirons along the way. The parking lot on Baseline is pretty small and fills up quickly, but if you park at the East Boulder Rec/Community Center, you can connect to the Bobolink Trail.

Fantastic hike, would’ve been a five star, had there been an actual trail the whole way:). There probably was, but I definitely missed it towards the top. I’d do it again if I came back to the area.

Great family hike with an 11 yo. Variable terrain but easy. Great view from May’s Point.

Very fun trail. Worth the tough parts for the view at the end! We had two dogs with us that were able to complete the trail as well.

This is a well maintained trail. Most of it is exposed, however you will have some tree cover toward the base of the mountain. It is half fire break, half single track. It is a moderate hike due to the elevation gain and has very few technical sections. Great views all around.

Very nice trail. Great views of the area. Started early when cool so it went great! Got a little steep for at the top for a flatlander.
Would recommend for everyone except young kids. Great time!

Going left: nice declines!! 7.8 miles. Not difficult :)

Great hike with spectular views, but it is strenuous.

Great views, nice variety, good workout, a little confusing a couple times as the trail name changed. Would recommend.

Tons of off leash dogs. Pretty trail otherwise.

Easy to navigate. beautiful scenery. no shade at front end from NCAR. but once you get going there is eventually shade. Lots of wild flowers, butterflies and bees.

Beautiful but really difficult! Lots and lots of stairs! We started at the NCAR parking lot. From the parking lot to the Arch and back was 8 miles. The trek from the official trail head of Royal Arch to the arch was pretty tough. Great views though. and LOTS of people. We started at 9 am and there were a ton of people out and about on the trail even on a week day.

Great hike at moderate to hard difficulty. Go as early as possible. I started at 7am and there were only 5-10 people on the scenic top. Apparently it can get up to 50 people in the afternoon.

Outstanding hike! Probably one of my top 5.

We took the steeper side up, and it took a little more than an hour to get to the top. It was worth every step. Lots of beautiful views throughout the trail.

We got a late start around ten; it wasn’t crowded, but it was hot. There are some shady places.

Wouldn’t recommend any kids on this trail. The terrain gets pretty rocky.

Just went yesterday in my STOCK 93 Cherokee. This is a very easy trail that takes you out to a nice roundabout that has a nice hike. The drive itself was super easy and you just need clearance for certain spots, and by that I mean just standard clearance for an SUV. The drive was super nice on the rail and got some nice views of the mtns. It was so much fun I did twice in one day!

Nice mellow route up Mt Sanitas. Longer and not nearly as steep as the Sanitas Ridge route. Popular with runners.

Beautiful tough hike, elevation gain is pretty significant over 1.5 miles. Beautiful views along the way of the Rocky Mountains and over the towns bordering the front range. Took about 3 hours RT

Nature’s version of a stairmaster!

Love this hike! I've done Royal Arch 20+ times, and it never gets old!

beautiful views for a short hike

Good short morning hike, with some rocky areas

Great hike; great views! It is somewhat busy, though. Pack lots of water and expect some rock scrambling.

Difficult as advertised but excellent hike! Will need poles on the descent due to loose rock. The only negative is the trail has been heavily used & eroded so that there are exposed tree roots with 6-10" of space underneath the bottom of the root and the trail. Use caution. Wish I'd known the restrooms at NCAR were open and available on a Sunday.

Hmm... all trails is off!!
1. It’s 10.53 miles
2. It’s not hard, more moderate. If you’re out of shape, then it’ll probably be a little hard.

Definitely a workout (step-style over rocks and roots in the canyon), but worth the views! Also quite easy (once you’re up there) to shoot over to Bear Peak. A lot of sun on the meadow trail area until the ascent, which is shaded for most of the canyon until the switchbacks leading up to the crest splitting the trail between South Boulder Peak and Bear Peak. Had to push myself a bit, but loved the vistas! Best to do on a weekday. I can see how it may get crowded. Barely anyone around today (Monday).

Parking is close on the side of a big bend in the road making it a pretty dangerous spot with cars flying by so be careful. Short easy walk to a roaring falls!

Awesome views! Harder than we anticipated but worth every step we took.
