Decided to do this on a whim while visiting CO. Up and up we went. This climb up will beat a stair master any day! Grateful for the shade. Views at the top were amazing. Be prepared to use hands to climb up and down some boulders. Walking sticks are a plus.

Great views of Boulder while ascending Flagstaff by car to get to the trailhead. Mays point has unbelievable views and is the pinnacle of the short route. After you have reached Mays point you can travel back the way you came or continue on the loop. If I were to do the hike again, I would definitely head back the way I came (better views and better path). If you take the loop you, can end early by cutting left up the road back to parking (rather than taking the path into the valley which you will then need to ascend back UP to the parking). We saw others in the parking lot but didn't pass by anyone on the trail on a Wednesday afternoon.

HikingGreat!

Great hike. Easy compared to Herman Gulch, which we did the day before. The view at the top was cool, but it was mostly cityscape. That point was also the convergence of several trails so it was pretty crowded.

Great views of the Boulder mountains and the Flatirons. Solid workout. Was relatively busy 9:00-11:00 am on a weekday. I went clockwise, but I think this trail might be more enjoyable counter-clockwise. If you go counter-clockwise the elevation gain is more steady and you get lovely views of the mountains as you climb.

Fun short hike! Path was rocky but nothing technical at all, just be careful where you plant your foot. Saw one small group over the whole hike. Beautiful views of N. Arapaho and Long’s peaks.

HikingGreat!

Just a heads up, Mon-Thurs from like 8-4:30 pm part of flatirons 1&2 are closed for maintenance so be aware of that and plan accordingly. It was a really fun trail with some light scrambling over rocks here and there. First time hiking in the area and it was great. The trail head was really well maintained. For me, the trail was a little unclear at times and just kinda ends?? There wasn’t a sign that said we reached the top/end like I’ve been used to, so it was a little confusing. But all in all it was really fun and presented some really amazing views. We went around 4pm and got back before dark which was really nice. I think the hardest part of it was the very beginning because the first part of the trail is so steep and flat.

HikingGreat!

I hiked counter-clockwise, couple of wrong turns along the way so keep an eye out for signs! The trail has been slightly re-routed when you switch from Gregory Canyon trail to Ranger trail. I arrived at 12:30pm on Saturday afternoon and the lot/access road were almost completely full. Trail was moderately trafficked, but a nice escape from the seemingly much busier Flatirons trailhead a couple blocks back. Most people were wearing masks and keeping their distance. It is a bit of an incline, but completely manageable if you’re in hiking shape. Also beware there is a ladder to climb towards the end (if you go counter-clockwise, it will be at the beginning if you go clockwise).

Great hike. If you’re not local, be prepared for the altitude change which can affect your stamina. Great views up top to see Boulder and what appears to be many miles away. Not too busy this time of year.

HikingGreat!

We did this hike on our first day in Boulder. It was a good way to get used to the elevation. We started around noon so it was moderately trafficked. It was somewhat difficult because of the fast elevation gain. Beautiful views at the top!
