Okay. That was hard. A really beautiful hike but if you’re not conditioned (or 6’6”) I would not recommend it. BUT when you get to the arch it is very special and quite the view!

Our first hike in Colorado and it was simply amazing! Loved the view and the rock formations at the peak.

Did the hike this morning. The first 1/2 of the trail is pretty plain and not difficult, but not covered. Once you cross into the shaded area, the incline and switchbacks start. Near the top there are a few places where the trail is not super well marked. Did the base to the top in 2hrs and back down in about 45 min. I started the hike at 6:30am and only crossed two people on the way up. On the way down, I came across about 20 people.

When you get to Sentinel Pass, turn left. We somehow thought the trail went straight. We should’ve noticed this sooner than we did, but we were wrong. This is a beautiful hike with a whole lotta vertical. If you’re looking for a good workout on a shady, well marked trail with beautiful views of Boulder and the Flatirons, and don’t mind sharing those views with a bunch of other fellow hikers, and maybe also hearing the loudspeaker from a CU football game at the same time, this is the one.

Tough hike. I recorded 4.0 miles RT from the parking lot. The bad news is lots of step! The good news is there’s tree cover right when the steps begin. There’s short scramble at sentinel pass. Nothing too crazy but it can be intimidating for out-of-towners. I saw lots of dogs and a dozen baby carrier backpacks. That’s just nuts. Sweet views at the top.

The ranger assured us it was a 2.5 hour hike since we were “clearly in shape.” It ended up taking 3. It was beautiful but definitely challenging - lots of stairs, and at some points the drops were large enough that it was best to sit down and slide off. It does get very crowded.

Perfect afternoon hike because you’ll be in the shade or the mountain most of the way! There are still some wildflowers around, too.

This hike can definitely be a little challenging in places if you bring your dog! Overall the entire hike was beautiful and definitely worth it!

Hard trail with lots of stairs and very steep incline. Quite a beautiful trail though, with lots of scenery throughout the hike and great views at the arch!

Mountain biking - I found some spots steep but manageable. Make sure brakes are strong for the way down.

Challenging to say the least. From TN, so the elevation change was likely part of the problem. Relatively healthy 27 yr old w/ 2 relatively healthy people in their 50s, completed in about an hour and fifteen coming from the Bluebell loop. Even when we started at 8:30 am on a Saturday it was getting crowded. On our descent it got even more crowded. Not ideal for such a thin trail. Beautiful overlook at then end.

Not my favorite. So many people that you end up standing in line in a couple of spots. There were also a lot of dogs for such a crowded trail. Love my puppers, but I wouldn’t bring them to such a heavily trafficked trail. The stone chairs were cool though!

Just did this hike yesterday, very populated even starting around 8am. Although a quick one , definitely a workout. Steady steep incline and stair steppers

Challenging but an enjoyable trek. The views and picturesque arch make it so worth it. Being from Florida, the elevation definitely got to me at times. Bring plenty of water and a snack to keep blood sugar up.

I started from the beginning of mesa trail all the way to royal arch. I clocked 6.4 miles to the top. Steady incline all the way up. Challenging the last mile or so, not sure if that was because i didn't start near the ranger station. But stopped quite often the last half mile up because of all the climbing. Great views when you get to the arch
