Wonderful hike definitely worth it.

If you’re not used to elevation/altitude, get adjusted first. I did the loop and was winded early though I’m an active/fit person. The climbs were nice with lots to take in. Loved the rock steps on the ascent and descent.

Really great hike and view, though it was very strenuous. Expect to take multiple stops along the way. Pack a little lunch for the summit. You’ll want to stay a while and enjoy the views! We clocked 4 miles round trip so I’m not sure where they come up with the 2.5 miles. It’s definitely not if you follow the route listed.

I wanted a challenge and beauty. I got both!!!

This was a perfectly challenging day hike for my husband and me. We’re both 50 and live at sea level but are in good shape (him squash & running, me CrossFit), and it left us nicely tired. The rock scramble isn’t bad if you’re comfortable climbing on big angled rocks, and it’s short so you can avoid it and still almost be at the peak. (My husband did it in a pair of flat-soled tennis shoes.) Be aware that the All Trails directions start at the NCAR parking lot, which had plentiful parking on a Saturday in mid-September but added 2 miles to the hike for. 9.6 mile total.

Great trail with Beautiful views. Well marked and traversed. Lots of parking.

Great hike with pretty views! A little steep but manageable. Got to the top for sunrise & well worth it! Trail was getting really busy coming back down around 8-9am

Trailhead to 1/2nd closes

Tough trek up some steep elevation, but once you pass the rock scramble, it becomes a cake walk.

Amazing hike! Very steep at the end, with a fun little scramble at the summit.

Car to car took about 3.5 hours. Loved doing the descent through Bear Canyon, it's way easier and pretty beautiful. Hiking up Bear through Fern is like doing a stair master for 1.5 hours; it's steep. But no complaints, it's a great workout and the view is incredible.

Went on a Saturday around 1pm. Parking wasn’t an issue at the trail entrance. The incline and altitude was a bit intense at first but then we got used to it. Several good views on the way up & at the top, it was incredible!!! Totally worth it. Amazing amazing views.

Four-starring this one because I thought the trail was surprisingly difficult to follow considering how popular it is. I ran into several spots where I wasn’t sure which direction to go in and the few signs on the trail do not seem to be very effective, but it could just be me. I saw a few other people having difficulties too. If it weren’t for the AllTrails gps map I would’ve definitely ended up going the wrong way. Other than that a nice, solidly challenging trail. A couple sections of mild boulder scrambling but nothing terrible. I do wish I had brought my poles with me as several areas on the descent are quite steep. Make sure you get there early. I pulled in at 6:20 on a Sunday and it was still quiet but the trail was getting pretty overrun by the time I arrived. Also, the entire loop as the GPS on this map indicates is nowhere near 2.5 miles, I clocked just about 4.

Fun little trail, pretty hot though in early September. I would try it again later in the fall.

Beautiful hike with some fun rock scrambling though nothing too intense. Steep upwards hiking for part - reasonable fitness level required though almost anyone could manage it by just taking it slow and steady. Someone in good fitness would find this very doable. Gorgeous views.

Enjoyed the trail. Not terribly hard, a few rocks to climb but really fun. My mini golden doodle made it all the way!

appears to be a little longer than the map says. trail is nice with some minimal climbing needed to reach the top. beautiful view from the top. totally worth the trip!

Was a great hike wasn't able to make it all the way but the views are great !

It took a little under 7 hours on an 85 degree day. Went up Gregory and Ranger Trail Great elevation gain. It hurt a lot on the way back

August 28, 2019 Went counter clockwise. Don’t. Brought 2 of our labs. This time of year bring more than enough if you like yourself or Love your dog. Going down Fern ruins a great hike. Never saw a fern and to many rocks. I’ll do it again and either loop it up fern or out and back starting counter clockwise. No bugs now. We clocked this as 9 miles from the NCAR lot. Lastly, yes it’s beautiful and areas of coverage but strongly recommend sunblock. Expansive open areas including a large burned out spot. Cheers
