A beautiful walk in a picturesque setting. A very rewarding walk.

Pretty fun! Ride it up the road first so you can coast all the way across! Really quick ride!

Have hiked this trail 3 times. Always a pleasure. I take my dog. He loves the lake. I try to hike during the week to avoid crowds.

Gorgeous views!

Nice little park. Right off of I-70 but doesn't feel like it at all. Great place to stop to stretch your legs.

This was a very nice hike! It is about 2.0 miles to the lake, with easy-moderate hills the whole way, and it is basically in the shade the whole way. The lake itself is very pretty and a great place for a dog to go swimming and cool off. It would also be a gorgeous place to have a picnic.

Awesome trail!! Uphill the entire way to the lake but very scenic and interesting. The lake was beautiful! A great place to have a picnic!

Had the trail to Beaver Lake to ourselves for about 90% of the time. Eventually had 2 people riding horses pass at the lake. Instead of taking BLT back down we took the Royal Elk Trail across to the gondola - some great sights along the way. Around 6-6.5 miles total.

Beautiful trail and stunning lakes.

Of course it is all uphill to the lake but it is a beautiful trail. At the lake you have to deal with aggressive chipmunks ready and able to steal any and all snacks you have. Figure about 3 1/2 to 4 hours round trip. Great workout.

This was a very nice hike and worth the effort to get to the lake. Little muddy
through a short section with very minimal snow. Wild flowers haven't budded yet. Very peacful trek.

Beautiful, short walk around the lake! So fun to swing in the swings by the path.

An OK hike. Nice lake, nice stream beside trail. But, a pretty long and steep hike. You can no longer park at trailhead, must park in Ford parking instead, which adds a lot of mileage. It’s now 8 miles out and back, with 1,600 ft vertical. And, pretty crappy walking on a dirt road for several miles. Absolute worst part, was all the horse crap on the trail. Worst I’ve ever seen.

Experienced hiker. CO, CA, TN, MA, AR, TX and others. This trail has one direction and it is straight up. From the Beaver Creek Resort it's a 1.5 mile trail called five senses trail which is really just along the road to the Beaver Creek fire station. The trail is not an awful trail, though is not all that scenic. Anybody indicating that it's a moderate trail doesn't know they're talking about. This trail just goes up. We agree with others that Lake is scenic, but no more scenic than any other Alpine Lake. Do yourself a favor, pass on this trail and find another in the area more suitable for the investment of time and effort. David Joyner

It is bountiful lake and trail

Stunning views. Moderate trail, difficult to find footing at some points but good overall. It was fun to spot places we've skied in winter. We love the sound of the Beaver Creek that you can hear for about half of the trail.

Be sure you know when the lift closes , if you hope to ride down. Beautiful hike, on a well maintained trail. It does go up up up, except one brief section, though lovely woods and across the ski runs. I was afraid I took a wrong turn when the trail headed downhill for a short time, but no, soon I was back to heading up. The sign at the top said this hike is 4 miles one way, I have good knees, but I was still ready to ride the lift down. I arrived at the top at 5:15pm, and the lift had closed at 5pm. The kind and fun lift operators gave me a ride down .

My wife and I are 65 and in decent but not great shape. We loved this trail. The creek ran beside it most of the way, and most of the trail was wooded. The incline was challenging, but doable. The lake is amazing! We'll use this trail again. However, we really wish they could eliminate the horse poop.....

This was an ok trail. It is a wide gravel trail that is a steady up. The end is the best part when you actually get more into hiking trails and finish up at the lake. The other downside is you out in the open most of the time

definitely worth making the extra miles!

This was a great hike! It’s worth noting, like the other reviewers have mentioned, that Royal Elk Trail starts near the top of the gondola. We had a 6 and 9 year old with us and taking a ride up was a must. The gondola rides are $39/adult to go up, but if you walk the trails up leading to Royal Elk Trail, it is free to take the gondola down (5pm is the last ride down). Once you’re on the trail, you’re basically crossing the ridges horizontally until the very last portion of the trail where you take beaver lake trail up to beaver lake. Very scenic, lots of beautiful vegetation this time of year. The lake was beautiful and we actually took a dip!

Great hike with beautiful views! Worth it to go to the upper lake. Left at 7:30am on a Sunday morning and on the way up only ran into a few people. On the way back, once you get closer to Beaver Lake, lots more traffic. Took us about 6.5 hours starting from Beaver Creek / Five Senses Trail. Out and back was about 16 miles. Trail is easy to follow.

Not too difficult but pretty. Bring water and bug spray

Pretty mostly shaded well maintained route through aspen groves. Hiked in early August when wild thimble berries plentiful along the trail. Lovely bridge across clear stream. Enough uphill to get our hearts pounding. Downhill portion (Cinch ski trail) not exciting but pretty views of Beaver Creek resort below.

Used allies way and overlook trails on way back down beaver lake trail. Nice trail through trees. Watch for bikes.

Good option coming back from beaver lake trail via allies way versus just out and back . Nice to be in trees and traversing ski slopes after being on old road.

Very nice hike! Close to the beginning, the trail goes through a tunnel for a bit. Lots of wildflowers & tall grasses. 2.5 hours and mapmyfitness said just under 5 miles round trip. The Last Mile up is a steady incline.

I and a coworker hiked up on a day off.

As previous reviews have stated, the most technically demanding portion of the hike is getting to beaver lake. The beaver lake portion is heavily trafficked, and while nice, it in no way compares to the second portion of the hike.

Once you pass Beaver lake the tourist traffic dies down immensely. It’s very serene, much less physically taxing and overall a much more enjoyable hike.
It’s another 4-5 miles to get to turquoise lakes but you cover ground much quicker and believe me, the payoff is SOOOOO worth it.
I highly recommend continuing on to the second lake as it’s very close and it sits directly under the mountain.

This next portion I highly discourage without previous experience with scrambling loose terrain, but I still want to tell about it.

I (being the adrenaline junkie I am) decided to climb straight up to the ridge-line of the mountain and the payoff was a magnificent view of the next mountain range over as well as access to the summit of Mount Jackson.
But once again, I highly discourage this unless you have experience ascending steep loose terrain as the route up needs to be carefully picked.

absolutely loved this hike!! one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on! Start at 5 senses trail and take that up to the beaver lake trailhead! It didn’t take too long and walking along the river was spectacular. Highly recommend.
