We did the drive from Aspen to Created Butte on this Jeep trail.. The scenery was a beautiful and the Jeep trail was great. There were some big rocks and narrow spots but overall a great drive. You’d need a 4x4 to do it because of the rocks and other obstacles. I did it in a 2018 Jeep Wrangler and it was effortless for it. There was a guy that came up in an older Montero and he did just fine. I think he’s done it before and has some experience though.

Amazing trail! Sign is further in, so it can be a bit confusing where it begins. Totally worth it

This trail does not exist. Went to the trailhead according to GPS and there is a gate but no markers or clear path beyond about 10 feet.
It seems as though there have been a few winters since this one was well trafficked and nature has reclaimed the pathway.

Beautiful hike! Air was a little thinner than I was used to, so be ready to take some breaks on the way up. About a thousand feet below electric pass there's a meadow with a few spots that are great for putting up a tent as long as you're expecting good weather. Be prepared for it to get cold at night, though. It easily drops 20 degrees as soon as the sun goes below the horizon. Beautiful hike!

Easy steady climb at about 11,500ft. Trail shared with ATV’s and dirt bikes.

Did this on 6/23! Most amazing and beautiful hike really makes you feel like you’re “in” the mountains! Didn’t see many people once high up. Flowers were great too!

Amazing hike! Completed this on 6/22, no worries about snow patches. Willow pass from maroon lake is a bit tricky, but well worth it!

Picturesque views. Technically it is an easy hike, but only if you are in a good shape and used to high elevation.

Still a lot of snow after Crater Lake. It'd be decent with snowshoes, postholed without. Hard to find trail at times but manageable. Beautiful trail and amazing views.

We actually went up Cooper Creek Road which is the left fork at the end of Castle Creek Road (Pearl Pass goes off to the right.) Beautiful Sunday afternoon stroll. The old mining road is closed to motorized vehicles but open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. It's in good condition and takes a gradual uphill grade for 5+ miles, at which point it gets much steeper as it climbs to the mine. There used to be a gate with a no trespassing sign at the base of the steep climb to the mine but if it still exists, we didn't make it that far. It snowed yesterday so the fall colors highlighted by the snow were spectacular. Other than two other parties at the beginning of our hike who we left behind quickly, we were alone for the entire time until we got back close to the parking lot. Expansive views with tons of photo opportunities.

Beautiful aspen turning on mostly smooth rounded peaks. nice smooth road, a few technical parts, we turned around before the actual pass tho (which is more difficult with a shale shelf road). few minor water crossings. panoramic views and gorgeous scenery abounds. Minor traffic, mostly motorcycles and bikes.

Beautiful hike , perfect weather. Start early

Awesome hike, be prepared for the open fields, coming back from the lake is harder than it seems

Did this over 4th of July weekend. Still plenty of snow but wasn't too much of a problem. Slippery in some spots but the pass was clear. The hike ascends without much of a break until you get to Willow Pass. Incredible views looking back on the Bells and the 360 degree view at the pass make this hike well worth it.

There is still a snowfield blocking the very top at the pass but still worth the hike.

Absolutely amazing and strenuous trail!

Magnificent lake, streams, waterfalls and spectacular panoramic views, You will hike through Aspen & Blue Spruce groves, open trails, shaded trails, rocky trails , smooth trails, flat trails and slightly steep. This HAS IT ALL!!!! Worth every bit of effort for views at top. A beginner can do this trail, it just may take a while. I'm a beginner and took me about 2 1/2 hours to reach top. Spent some time there and a good while at lake. We took 6 hours for round trip.

Great hike.. Get an early start if doing the electric pass, cloud build up possible after 11 unless clear day.. Total of almost 12 miles of you stop at the lake. We finished it in 8 hours..

This is a beautiful, strenuous and rewarding hike. You can experience Maroon Lake, Crater Lake, Willow Pass and Willow Lake all in one hike. I recommend starting early as the majority of the hike is above treeline and very exposed to the sun. You have no shade from the final ascent to Willow Pass until Willow Lake. Keep in mind, you'll be ascending again on the way back from the lake, so save some energy for that significant 1.5 mile incline, let alone the remaining descent back to Maroon Lake. Wildflowers were abundant in late July as were pika and marmots. It was a very quiet hike on a Thursday morning. I kept a decent pace with a brief break at the lake and finished the hike in 7-8 hours.

This area is completely gorgeous. We did not have the proper information and attempted to summit from the north which, in our Xterra PRO4X was unachievable because of a 15 foot area of slide rock with a huge incline. Maybe from the south, but coming down would still be hairy. Camping on the north side will be amazing in the future, as we will go back to the area for sure, really breathtaking, ample private turn-offs for backwoods camping while being surrounded by stunning and huge peaks.

I 4 wheeled this pass while my husband Mtn biked it. There are some very technical parts and places that you must walk your bike. We went early October so the leaves where beautiful lots of snow at the top. Great views! You must be a little crazy to Mtn bike this trail which is why my husband does it! :)
