My wife and two daughters went out for a day hike yesterday. Trail was super easy until you got to the first falls. The hike got a bit more intense but we handled it. My daughters age 5 and 8. Needed a bit of help here and there but we made it through it. Also took our frenchie with us. It was a great time all around.

Such a fun hike. I day hiked the whole thing. Really liked seeing the caning, school house, and the views! Had fun crossing the river a bunch of times along the way. Things to note. -The last part of the road to the trail head is a bit rough ( dirt sections and/or a bunch of potholes) but my Toyota Corolla made it. -the trail is pretty easy but it’s just on the long side. The app said 17 miles and the sign on the trailhead says 10 miles to the schoolhouse. That would be 20 all together... -late winter or early spring is an awesome time to go. I got some rain and it was so much fun.

Neat trail. It starts out with a lot of open area and then narrows. A short part has overgrown shrubs and thorny bushes so wear appropriate attire. Then the terrain changes and the trail turns into dense forest as you descend towards the creek. Once you get down to the creek, continue straight & climb the rocks towards the waterfall (totally worth it!). The ascent back is challenging but only for less than a mile.

Great trail. Great views and not difficult. Not so easy for mountain biking.

3-29: trail is great for micro spikes right now. Did this in the summer and now winter. Beautiful at the top with all the snow.

This is the second time hiking this trail and it’s great. Creeks that you have to cross through, rocky terrain, and good twists and turns. Some muddy patches due to rain yesterday. I brought my husband and 2 young adult children and they enjoyed it too.

this is one of the best family hikes we have been on! short and easy hike to a spectacular view of Halland Lake. plus the falls themselves are amazing. the final half mile to the top is steeper and a bit rocky. the views at the top are the reward!

lovely hike! Lots of river crossings and water is still flowing nicely. Plenty of shade spots, mellow incline and very well maintained. Slightly more grown towards the end but still assisable. Trails end at one last river crossings. Packed in and packed out.

Good. I little muddy, but it had rained the day before. The road section (miles 7-9) are underwhelming with the road. Would do again.

The road you drive down to the waterfall is STEEP & TREACHEROUS!! 4 wheel drive would have been awesome. Bring an air compressor and make sure your spare is accessible LOL. The hiking trail in to see the waterfall is short, easy and kid friendly. The waterfalls are amazing and we’re everything I hoped for!

Great trail! It was wet and rocky, but we expected it, especially with the recent rain. The kids (2 and 6) had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the waterfall. It was a lot bigger than expected.

The 4 C’s trail was pretty good. Just enough elevation change to make you work a little bit. We used this trail as a test run for back country camping. My pack was ~15 pounds and we finished the entire trail in about 5 hours with maybe 35-40 minutes of stop time. There are ample enough water sources and places to camp. The trail wraps around a small lake and there are a couple small waterfalls along the way, as well as some good views. Slightly muddy in spots since it’s a mixed use trail in certain areas, but nothing too bad.

so much trash and kids screaming :/

Wasn’t that bad! Not a lot of great views. Tough hike for beginners.

Very pretty hike, I would recommend it. The trail was muddy but the scenery was worth the hike.

Didnt expect the snow at all))) both feet were soaked wet. Walking up the mountain was difficult but it was worth it! The same was from the lake walking up, challenging. Just make sure to check the weather for snow before you go.

Awesome short and easy trail to get out of the house for the day!

Closed for CORONA shutdown

Expansive, long, beautiful trail. Hilly, steep at points. Sometimes narrow (one person), sometimes wide (two cars). Great, beautiful variety. Highly recommended. Slightly slick in a couple spots this time of year.

Gorgeous! Most of the trail is snow-covered but well worth the hike!

Perfect trail! Super easy flat hike with dogs

Nice long hike with great bird watching near the wetlands. Pretty muddy throughout. Appaloosa is in the process of being repaired (as of two weeks ago from this review). The train is re-routed via a service road then picks back up.
