If you’re looking for a quick sweaty workout and steep incline, recommend going clockwise (stick left at every fork). Otherwise, take the right sided road for a moderate climb (better for kids/dogs). Wear a hat and long pants due to sun and shrubbery. Watch out for bees. Parking lot at the address listed and trail head is a bit up the road. Nice view of mountains and town at the top. Took 1.5 hours round trip at steady pace.

Great Trail. Good sights. Good views. Definitely going again.

Really enjoyed this trail. The paths aren’t very clear. Went during the fall and it was beautiful. Some paths are very narrow. Nice parking area, as a young female that always makes a difference to me.

Awesome trail!! Beautiful, well maintained (save for dog/horse droppings), easy to find, clearly marked...just awesome. Best way to spend an hour in the area, if you ask me! :) :)

Fun trail! Make sure to wear good hiking shoes bc there are some steep hills that were difficult to grip. A little over grown so follow on all trails app. Over all a great work out and fun trail!

Beautiful panoramic view...great for kids and beginners and with your dog along. Love it to get a quick hike/walk in and would be great for a quick trail run.

Did this hike with the kids. It did have initially some great incline and shade then opened up with great views but the trail markers aren’t very good. It’s a 4x4 wood that has names on each side but no direction. Stay left at the first marker at a fork. Next marker go right. That will take you to Hi Up Road. There you’ll see a house. We followed the map but instead of the map following a larger loo with a wider trail it took us through a very narrow and overgrown trail. We stumbled across a large tarantula spider right away crossing the trail. We loved the sighting but realized the trail was so tight we may have to worry a lot more about rattlesnakes so I used my trekking poles to make noise and vibration hoping to scare off any snakes. I just don’t recommend the skinny trail the map takes you on. Otherwise a pleasant hike overall.

It’s a great and dog-friendly trail. It has great views of the valley on and clear days with no smog(that’s not often

We parked one car at The Oaks Restaurant and drove the other to Loch Leven. Hiked up and enjoyed brunch at the restaurant. The hike is beautiful and you feel like you’re getting away from it all. We hiked on a weekday morning and had the whole trail to ourselves. Saw some fall colors and enjoyed some sweet blackberries. The last section to the Restaurant is through a neighborhood.

this really is a great little trail that’s well-marked and easy to follow. It’s steep enough to get that heart rate up. On the way down there are some very steep parts to navigate if you have bad knees be wary. Lots of sun so bring enough water and protection.

This trail was fun. The paved road makes it easy to keep track of (but note that at the 2nd stream crossing, hang a left, don't cross the bridge. The 3rd stream crossing is no longer there as the Alltrails route shows!!). The shade was on and off the whole 3+ mile section I completed. It made for nice breaks. My one note: perhaps it's only relevant at the beginning of Sept, but GNATS. So many gnats while you're anywhere close to the streams!! I definitely plan on coming back and completing the whole thing.

This is a wonderful place to spend 3-4 hours at. Very easy and beautiful trail and then you can relax at the cafe and eat some home made apple pie. My family loves this place. My sons love the boysenberry syrup and orange jam they sell at the quaint little Shops. Over all wonderful place for a family outings

Easy going on the fire road. We went up on the west side and had to backtrack to find the trail over to the fire bell - the trail up the hill looked like a washout, not a trail. Slightly overgrown but using the map from all trails we found the bell and found our way out. The kids enjoyed ringing the bell.

Did not care for this trail. It had a lot of thorns! So glad we didnt bring our dog on this one! Also, at the fork, we took the left trail, before we got to the halfway point of the loop the trail was overgrown. Will not be back.

I love this trail easy for beginners yet it has a slight incline. Had to cut it short as my doggo was overheating but we would definitely return on an evening or early morning

great little hike with my dog

Eastern route up was a nice climb and well blazed, but I found the western portion of the loop descending from Zanja overgrown, very steep, and very slippery in parts. Next time I’ll return a different route.

Nice trail, this is our first time taking the loop through the park from Zanja Peak. Nicely maintained trail. The only part we did not like was finishing through the park. Great workout. Definitely recommend to start as early as possible. Watch out for snakes and giant spider!

Went up today and great views, just wish people would pick up poop or at least kick it off trail.

10 mile loop starting at 13th St. and the Crafton Hills Ridge Trail up to Zanja Peak and back. Most of the trail I would rate as moderate except for the last climb to Zanja Peak which is about a 45° to 60° incline. Great fitness trail.

Decent outing. Sandy trail in many sections. Partly shaded. Watch out for horse poop. Free parking, clear trail to follow.

Fantastic trail. Did it with my 16 yr old son and we went back another 1.5 miles which made the total hike 9.2 miles. Gorgeous views at the top. Going to do this trail more often.
