Nice family trail. About a fourth to a third of the trail from the main entrance is more of a nature walk, with several information booths along the way. After that it's an easy trail with a nice picnic area when you approach the southern most spot. They have benches and plenty of open spaces for the little ones to run around. Close enough to the lower parking lot that you can just head there for a picnic day.

This trail is great anytime of the year.

Unable to access the trail via Birch Creek Lane. Locked gate with Private Property/ No Trespassing signs. Adjacent roadside roped off with No Parking signs.
Be aware that you can access the same area from the Bearpaw Preserve on the other side of the ridge, just off Highway 38. You need a permit to access the preserve (and a code to enter the locked gate,). however you can obtain a permit free online. The distance and elevation to the top of the divide trail are about the same. The Bearpaw trail is not on the Alltrails map, however this is a well maintained truck trail to the top of the ridge.

Great trail. Nice time with my wife and kids.

this hike is fun and rewarding with a beautiful view from the top. pretty tough first time.

Great for mountain biking, walking. Not real far. Still nice though.

This was a nice easy trail, lots of different scenery and many loops to follow. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find it hard to navigate, there were many signs indicating the different trails. We saw a man who lived nearby, on his horse, he was helpful in telling us about the trails and the history behind the abandoned house. We walked up to the old abandoned house, which was pretty cool.
Plenty of parking.

quite a hard climb - narrow rough path with lots of steep climbs and no shade, but a great view at the end. saw lots of droppings along the way, so must be a natrual path for all the wild animals here. to get there, it's best to cross the dry creakbed right where you park and look for vague trail going towards hills - key is to get yourself up on the ridge, where the trail is.

Nice little mile loop and picnic areas.

Easy and pretty hike. Once we made the loop My 4 and 5 year old asked to do it again so we went the opposite way.

Great hike to take kids. Multiple interactive spots for them. Free entrance. Perfect spot if your beginning to hike as it's very easy. Be careful in the summer/warmer days because a lot of trees are dried and there's less shade causing temps to go up quick. Lots of small trails along the large loop. I grabbed a map they had but there's no need. We ended up walking around randomly and made it back just fine.

I love this hike!!

Clean, moderate to easy difficulty depending on your fitness levels. Bring a camera , decent photo ops.

It was a great hike, but by no means easy!! Maybe I took the wrong hike. I started down at the other parking lot because the first one was full. Starting from there, it was a lot of downhill, then a little bit of flat by some picnic tables, and then a LOT of uphill. Where was the EASY hike?

I wouldn’t say this hike was hard..challenging on some inclines but they were short and my 9 year old was able to do them...we did about 5.5 miles..we couldn’t figure out which Peak was actually the peak 2 of them looked about the same so we hiked to both. We could have clocked in more miles but the trails were not marked as to where it would take you...there were small trails that took off from the main trail and we thought we were doing a loop until we realized we weren’t going to end up back to our car..inside the regional park. So we just turned around and back tracked. The trail we were on was mostly narrow and switched back and forth..careful for mountain bikers they will usually announce themselves. Over all good quick local hike. Nice view of the mountains around.

fun hike. great for the whole family. we even took our small dog and he did great. we will do it again.
