Views from Bald Hills Road are panoramic. In Spring when the purple lupine bloom it’s a highway of photographers and artists setting up easels. Hike to Lyons Ranch is dirt road. The historic ranch buildings are being preserved to ponder what life was like for the many mixed race families before electricity, cars, plumbing.

Great hike through prairies and oak woodlands. We stopped to watch elk below us in the tall grass. We explored all of the buildings and had a nice lunch before strolling back to the trailhead. We were the only people on the trail.

Really enjoyed the panoramic views of the trail mostly in a prairie. The area has an awesome amount of elk, deer, coyotes, mountain lions and a few bears by all the sign and tracks I saw on the trail after the recent rains. The only human tracks I saw on the trail were my own. Lyons Ranch and the structures were incredible... Makes you wonder what it was like back in the day. Definitely worth seeing...

Not sure what all my cohorts thought but I loved it

Fantastic trail for scenery. Path is a dirt road and is easy in that respect. We detoured to make a better loop of it and ended up climbing straight up about a 500' elevation in long grass, which I don't recommend. Otherwise we had a great time exploring.

Awesome drive... gave me a chance to see some of the trailheads I will be using in the near future. I got to see and take some pics of a herd of Elk and got to see a Prairie Chicken(Grouse) that I don't see very often. I drove by the fire lookout way up top as well. Oddly enough there is a fire station back there too. I drove through a bit of snow and ice as well... Brook, my lab got to see snow for the 1st time. Pretty funny, I did Little Bald Hills Trail 2 days ago and they are 60+ miles apart.

Not a trail but a road trip. A steep climb to LadyBird Johnson Grove, with large Redwoods, where the road levels out and follows a ridge crest. From there the road is either closed in by trees or open prairie. Incredible and beautiful vistas on this trip of ridges and valleys cloaked in dense Redwood growth.
