Nice trail. I take the trail to the right for a better workout up the hill starting at Amar road. If you like it easy go to the left. Used to take me an hour and 45. Now takes me about an hour and a half as I continue to go. My dog loves it! Beautiful views.

Really pretty views. Fun trail to run. Definitely a workout. Lot of flys and poop in the middle of the trail, so just be aware of that.

very quiet nice view, no parking on street.

Very nice quiet trail! You even get to see a friendly horse haha! :)
Make sure you go 3 hours before sundown!

good trail quality

Best in the spring, or after a recent rain... which is rare here in SoCal. Summer months will get hot and the switchbacks do a number on the legs. But it’s an awesome workout with a bit of shade here and there at the start of the trail. Go uphill through the switchbacks and CCW through the residential areas to arrive back at the start. Watch out for the horse dung!

Quite a nice hike. You'll be in a mostly residential area. At about the midway point it opens up into this beautiful view of the Covina plains. That part is very well done and even has a table for you to sit at. The last part of the hike you will be going down a steep decline, and some sticks may be in the way. I parked at the school but it was packed because of a soccer game on Saturday. This neighborhood is very rich and it was a nice walk. If you're looking for a nice casual hike this is good choice.

Solid hike. Great view of the city. Very little shade.

Beautiful views! Wear good shoes as some of the trail is quite steep.

Good trail for light hiking or trail running. Residential trail. If you park at the Walnut Park lower parking, the entire loop is 4.15 miles.

Great hike! I go to school nearby and always passed by this place. My boyfriend and I decided to go explore. We were not disappointed! Beautiful views, and there’s an abandoned car somewhere in the beginning of the trail. It’s super creepy but it’s a cool find .

Started off of schaubarum skyline trail of grand ave just slightly past Cameron and past hillside drive then trekked the trail all the way till I connected to the regular schaubarum trail and trekked downward to Amar street then caught the bus to go home. Easy to moderate hike would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge

Great night hike

Definitely worth the trip! The scenery was excellent, featuring both city views and wild habitat. Easily accessible from Grand.

Want to see the skyline of Azusa mountains or Puente hills?

This is the trail for you.

It's a mix of natural landscape and suburban homes. There are tables on few locations to enjoy the view. Horses/dogs are allowed.

Great place to take your pup for a walk, there are complimentary poopy bags at the start.

I went during dusk when more of the wildlife becomes active. GO IN A GROUP! Saw a coyote in the dark forested area, do not recommend for the faint of heart.

Wear shoes with traction. There is a lot of dirt in a few parts where your whole foot can be swallowed by dirt. Nevertheless, awesome views and trail! Will be back with friends!

Nice trail wear pants , there is some shady parts but towards the end it's sunny love this trail since it's close to home make sure you check out the tikis!

I didn't hit the elevation or miles as described. Only 3.4 miles and 987 ft elevation. It was a great hike, though. Walked up the switchback part of the trail. That was tough! Great views of Walnut and West Covina/Covina. Picnic benches in a few spots. Would be nice to have water fountains there. No restrooms.

Great hike! We saw bunnies and found the wrecked car. We went all the way to the peak area in the residential area, then turned around because it started to get dark, and we weren't sure where the end of the trail was. We took our kids (ages 3-17), and they were fine on this trail.

The only complaint I have is the parking. We parked at the park and had to walk down the street to the trailhead.

I was in town for work and did this trail. Pretty easy, hilly terrain that can be jogged. Half the trail is a well maintained red dirt path that weaves along gated communities with fantastic landscaping and great views of the mountains and wildflowers. The other half seems more "off road" with a sandy, rocky path.

nice trail

Friday, April 28, 2017

I hiked this a couple times last fall. The initial hike to the top of the hill on Grand is tiring but quick, but the rest of the Magnolia Trail portion is pretty easy. When the trail enters Buzzard Peak Road it becomes a bit harder as it's a steady incline until you're carving the side of Buzzard Peak, but then a pretty smooth hike as you ride on top of the San Jose Hills. Also the views are amazing at this part.
