Dusty in dry weather, but a good workout, great views and lots of sky overhead.

Trail is very easy to follow and well paved. Fairly steep at the beginning but ultimately do-able for almost anyone. Very relaxing and fairly empty of visitors. I would recommend this hike as the first you do in Channel Islands.

You can have an easy to intense work out on this trail. I love this park because I have many options to change up the trails and get a good work out in for the day.

The reason I love this park is because there are various routes. You can take it easy or if you’re up for a challenge take one of the two steep inclines to the top of the foothills. This is Central Coast chaparral at its finest. You may see some smalls birds or hawks and a snake on hot days. Great view of Ventura even from the moderate trails.

Potato Harbor Trail is an moderate to easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Santa Cruz Island Coast. This hike is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot. This day the ride over was a little tough with the swells but not too bad. There is an orientation you should do after getting off the boat, then you can do whatever you had planned. I immediately hit the trail up to the bluff overlooking Scorpion Harbor, then out to Potato Harbor overlook. Bring plenty of water especially if you are hiking inland, hotter away from coast.
Enjoy.

Virtual Treadmill video of this hike can be seen on my YouTube Channel, copy and paste link below to watch it. Thanks.

A nice, easy hike with gorgeous views the whole way! I was lucky enough to see a peregrine falcon perching on some of the cliffs along the trail. Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and water because there is nowhere to stop in the shade on this trail.

I was visiting from AZ and found this trail on AllTrails. I was looking for a 10 mile trail run with good elevation and this trail hit it on the head for me. I ran at sunrise and enjoyed every minute of it. Outside of a few small dips, the first 5 miles out were all climbing in some regard. After two miles I was above the clouds and had phenomenal views of the surrounding valleys all around. I highly recommend this trail for all abilities and paces and can’t wait to come back. Cheers

Great Road for mountain biking, one inconsiderate fellow almost ran me over, also great for hiking. Burned trees from Thomas Fire makes for interesting scenery as does natural oil well right at the beginning. After first mile only saw two mountain bikers, the rude one mentioned and a friendlier one, to mile 6 marker where I turned around. Best would be to leave a car at top so as to not have to turn around. Bring lots of water.

Just hiked this yesterday to gauge my hiking level. Would not suggest a beginner to hike this because getting to the Cross is pretty steep. But once you get there it is Oh-So-Worth-It. Magnificent views.

I run this trail with my pup often. The trail switches between uphill and downhill often, so it makes a great, challenging running trail. The mustard and all the brush is growing back beautifully. Love this trail.

This is a beautiful hike with great views along the coast. I saw an island scrub jay and island fox, too. Easy hike and something that a family could do.

It's not too long, kinda steep, and most of it is through town and a residential neighborhood. But for some reason, I really, really liked it. Ocean, downtown Ventura, a very well kept up neighborhood, that leads to a short dirt trail, and the best panorama view of Ventura you will ever see. As you're approaching the hill, look for the cross, that's where you are going.

Not a bad walk. Minimal elevation changes, it's as wide as an access road, so having to squeeze and losing the trail are not an issue. There are picnic tables at the end (in the sun), and one bench (in the shade mid-day). Pretty light blue lake, which you can see the whole way.

Not a difficult hike, but it can get pretty warm in the direct sun. Great views along the trail until you make your way down towards the boat launch area. Good quick hike to do if you are only on the island for the day.

The hike wasn't hard at all and you'll get plenty of picture opportunities once you get to the end.

Great trail! lots of inclines to get your heart rate up for a good workout close to home. Trail surround by flowers and nice hilly view. Dog friendly.

Esta muy bien es corto hay subidas y bajadas y muy divertido va mucha gente a caminar

It’s okay not very green more like bushes, trees and dead grass

Potato Harbor was amazing at sunset! We were camping in the upper loop and left for Potato Harbor about an hour before sundown. We took the coastal trail instead of the harbor road in both directions, and there was breathtaking scenery throughout! Be sure to stay after sunset to catch the best colors. This is a great hike if you enjoy something calm and easy that will give you a beautiful view of the lake! I recommend it if you’re with kids or have bad knees. Not much incline and it’s a steady hike. Would come back again!

Started from the Cavern Point trailhead and added an additional mile of amazing views along the bluffs. Had plenty of time for the trail, a long break at the overlook, and a chance to relax on the beach before the boat returned to the dock.

Trail was busy with other daytrippers. Great views. Caterpillars, birds, and some friendly bees. Good hike for kids as it is quite level with minimal elevation gain.

Amazing recovery after the fire is in process! Easy access and a good workout. Go back on the trail along the other side of the park rather than back the way you came to make it a true loop.

This hike is fairly easy. I carried my 9month old in a carrier on me and slowed at some points due to steep inclines. I went on a Wednesday and there was a fair amount of people. Lots of different entrances to this. Once you pull in the parking lot, if you drive all the way to the baseball field and park you will find other entrances. The fire was detrimental to the area but it seems like the ash produced richer soil and the growth it has regained is beautiful. Stay off burn areas as posted but take in how beautiful all the flowers and new greenery looks.

This is the prettiest family hike if you are in the Scorpion Beach area. It is an easy hike and the views are spectacular. Definitely worth your time, especially if you area a daytripper and only have time to do one quick hike. Our group seen an island fox in hunting action.

We added the Cavern Point Loop hike for an extra 1 1/2 to 2 miles.

Great trail

The trail is open with some fire damage but growing back beautifully! I took my 8 month old puppy and she loved it! Absolutely gorgeous trail with some good inclines for a nice workout. I wore my hiking boots but saw others in regular tennis shoes.
