I take this hike often. I’d say it’s a moderate hike with incline. Depending on what time you go very sunny and less then part shade. There are two towers middle point has a bench. This road is rocky and broken pavement but beautiful scenery. 5$ parking fee. This is one of very many trails here at Adobe.

Dog friendly, awesome trail, partially paved, great exercise, heart pumping, amazing views, breezy so if cooler bring layers. No shade so if sunny bring protection

The trail was worth the drive from West Sacramento and view worth the uphill hike. It is busy local spot for Vacaville running community, but there is plenty of room. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat.

Nice easy stroll around the pond. Other trails in the park offer more of a challenge.

The hills are no joke but definitely doable. Two tree swings near the top too!

Watch out for cow poop!!! The cows were so close!

I live out 15 minutes from here and I keep asking myself why I haven't done this hike in the past. I had a great time doing this hike alone and will definitely be back. I advise wearing pants since parts of the trail are very narrow.

Favorite trail. Lots of shade. Lots of cows and butterflies and views from the top are spectacular. Gets more Challenging after 2.5 mile mark. You can park at 1.8 miles up in a gravel lot and hike up from there and it’s a great butt workout. Be careful coming down and beware mountain lions for they do exist there!

I actually start my run from Orchard Street and hit Gates Canyon. Once on Gates Canyon Road, its a pretty straight shot to the top with some nice views of the coubtry life of Vacaville. It is mostly shady so summer running is good up the road. At about 3 miles in from Pleasant Valley, it starts to get a moderate slope up. It will definitely give you a good workout and solid running miles for your training. The road does end near the top and transitions into a dirt/gravel road which can make the downhill run more challenging so be sure to wear appropriate trail running shoes or slow your pace down to avoid potential falls on the non-paved portions. Be a little careful as you near the summit because the road narrows and has a few curves and the small car traffic you will encounter may not see you until they get up on you. All said, this is one of the best hill workouts in Vacaville and as said keeps you in the shade for the most part. I recommend running and/or hiking with a hydration pack .

The views were great but trail is poorly marked and the cows have basically destroyed it. We found ourselves in a field of tunnel spiders and felt like we were in an Indiana Jones movie. Saw lots of wildlife (besides spiders), including turkeys and jackrabbits.

You can get a ton of miles running around the lake. If you are a birder, you can see many different species of bird around the lake as well as deer. It's very beautiful in early spring after the rains when the surrounding hills are green.

Up to the rope swing was fun. Poorly marked got lost multiple times trying to come down. Next time I’ll just go up and come back down the same way to avoid getting lost. Not many people on the trail.
