Amazing views, short and very sweet

quiet spot in the park that gives a good look at some awesome redwoods and other big trees, then get sweaty on the way back up!

Great trail! It'll def kick your butt on the way back. Get your pass at Thomas Kuchel visitor center first. It's free. Don't forget a mosquito spray. They're really mean at the park. Pack plenty of water. The trail is not 3.3 miles. It's more like 4.5 miles, we tracked it with GPS.

I rock hunt and collect driftwood.i had a blast

This is a great hike. It isn't technically difficult at all, more like a city park trail with a good elevation rise back to the car. The Redwoods are amazing.

A great hike with amazing views. DO NOT go on this hike with the expectation of seeing the lighthouse unless you are there the first Saturday of the month. That is when they open the gate and access to the lighthouse is better.

The Rim Trail is a good hike with lots of short offshoots that give you great views. My wife and our 2 year old daughter hiked it. My daughter rode in a jogging stroller the entire length. We hiked a little over 4 miles of the trails. Very Scenic and a good hike. I know these reviews are very subjective but I gave it 3 stars because I felt the day use fee was high, which was needed to park in the park. $8. I know it's a small amount to pay for a nice hike but most other places were half as much, or free. The other reason for 3 stars was that I felt the different trails and offshoots were not marked very well on the ground. The map we were provided was great, but the signs on the trail were a little confusing and I wasn't sure much of the time where we were in the park or whether we had taken the right branch. Other than those things, it is a beautiful hike.

Fun trail, short and sweet!

Great hike with lots to see

A gem!!

A nice easy trail with a decent viewpoint. It was a cloudy day, but I still enjoyed myself. There was a path down to the beach. I was able to do the whole thing in flip-flops with only a few spots of difficulty.

Great hike! Became a little unsure when the trail turned into a road, but the locals or other hikers helped us out with some arrows pointing us in the right direction! The climbing rope was also a big help. Fog prevented us from seeing the coastline, but it was still beautiful up there.

$8 fee. Worth the amount of beautiful agates I found! They are everywhere! I could have easily spent half a day collecting agates but I arrived late in the afternoon as this was unplanned. The ocean views are incredible. Also saw a few sea stars :)

Beautiful :) Solo hike. I did this on a Sunday started at around 1pm and thought there would be more people but surprisingly there wasn’t!

Gorgeous, shady, sublimely quiet hike. We got on the trail around 12:30 and the parking lot was full, but most people were coming out as we were coming in. We didn’t pass many people on our way out. Early evening might be the best time to go. Don’t skip the loop at the bottom as it’s the reason for the entire hike. It’s full of huge redwoods, lush ferns, and old growth moss covered maple trees. Our kids thought it felt like a fairy garden (oh and our kids rocked this hike - ages 7 and 4).

great views perfect hike

Fun hike! Pretty cool scramble to the top as well. I saw 2 mountain lion #2’s on trail, which is a little unnerving.

Not the most exciting trail, but an epic view at the top. Great view of the redwoods and ocean together. Doesn’t take long at all to get up too.

Amazing view at the top!

Need a permit from the visitors center to get the Days code for the gate. Long dirt road to a short loop trail but the joy is seeing the former record holder, and knowing the current Worlds Tallest Tree is near! Quiet and majestic.

Nice flat forest trail though busy during tourist season. In winter it’s seldom used. The stone and wooden steps up Ceremonial Rock is a fun climb yielding views. Fun for kids if you’re staying at the PP campground.

Great trail combines flat forest trail with ocean view that breaks out at the top of Elk Head. Look down on Seal Rock and hear Sea lions barking. Watch ocean going fishing boats come and go.

From State Beach parking lot you can go left down the creek trail to State Beach, or through the forest North then down a trail to College Cove. Or stay on the Bluff and continue to Elk Head for Bluff views of the ocean, and seal rock.
Between State Beach and College Cove there’s a rock arch by Pewetole Island that is great for tidepooling and photos.

Nice 45 minute loop trail with great ocean and harbor views. The working lighthouse is actually open for tours on the first Saturday each month, from 10-12! The grounds to simply view the lighthouse are open from sunup to sundown those days.

The view is worth the muddy narrow trail. Although now that the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust is looking to get oversight, the trail will be able to be cleared and widened nicely. Users seem to keep trail and landscape clean of trash. Thank you to those who maintain ropes on the rock.

Beautiful mix of scenery - redwoods, aspen, rock formations. At times the trail is incredibly narrow with foliage on both sides. The end has a rock climb with rope assist, so our dog and one friend had to stop before the real view.

First time I did this it was just doing all the little trails at Patrick's Pt. It was on a rough winter day. This time I was there on a nice summery day to look for agates. Did lousy but a great time on the beach on a beautiful day...

Absolutely amazing trail. Larger grove at the bottom and a beautiful clear creek. If you step out into the creek area, you can see the majesty of the y’all trees. I recommend reading the board when you first get to the trail head as there is one tree in particular that is pointed out but we didn’t know that as we didn’t read the board till the end.
