CLOSES AT 5! As in they lock the gates promptly at 5. No sunset hikes here

Nice park with lots of amenities. Loop trail is short but several options to wander off main loop to gain extra distance. Great family park.

Great place to walk close to the city where you can smell the fragrant plants, see and hear the birds, and enjoy a variety of views and native plants that change dramatically depending on rain and such.

Trail is closed with tape on both ends. Overgrown, don’t go.

2019 rains have given the trail some beautiful yellows along the paths near the park. First time doing this trail and made the mistake of going right at the stable a few minutes from the park. Not an easy accessible route that way, so I wouldn't recommend the Valmonte Canyon Trail. Make sure you stay on the route to the left of the first stable toward the Fern Creek Trail by using your favorite map app.

Mixed review. As a recreational facility, Charles Wilson Park is perhaps the best I've ever seen - playgrounds, baseball diamonds, large picnic areas, dance areas, water play zones, etc. There are many nearby activities - batting cages, live steam miniature trains, etc. See my photos. Definitely 5 stars. As a walking/hiking place, maybe if you live nearby, 2-3 stars.

My dog was sad to read the "No Dos Allowed" sign at the gate; I should've checked AllTrails more carefully first. But, at least the two of us got to do a short walk around the nature center. The marsh itself would be of more interest to birders than hikers, but still, it's fun to explore someplace so wild only a block or so away from Del Amo Fashion Center.

Excellent trail for a light mountain biking for Saturday morning. I second the earlier post about trail signs, but you shouldn’t let this discourage you.

What an incredible loop trail! It's not exactly well marked, and cuts through a lot of the Palos Verdes Estates, but if you use a trail guide (I used this blogger's: http://angeles.sierraclub.org/palos_verdes_south_bay/telephone_pole_hike) it's a fun scavenger hunt of directions that'll end with a nice surprise (a stunning view of the Los Angeles basin). The trail loops directly back to the start too, which was a surprise for both my parents and I when we hiked it. Highly recommended, especially if you're a fan of horses (the first 1/2 of the trail cuts through horse stables and farms). Check it out for a nice "background" tour of the Verdes Estates!
