It was a nice easy drive that cars could easily do with out bottoming out. Private property surrounded it and didnt see the campgrounds.

Absolutely beautiful place to take a nice long walk! Once the pavement ends there are very few passing vehicles. The tree canopy keep most of the road shaded and there's a beautiful little creek to check out right off the road. My husband and I really found this to be a very pleasant walk.

The road was fun to drive on and there was a small creek to hang out at. The trail is surrounded by private property, so you can't really deviate from the main road or explore at all. You can drive this road in any passenger car, for even a stock truck this will just feel like a road with some dirt on it. Still had a good time, just was hoping for some more bouncing around or rocks to drive over.

Subtle and easy fire road with beautiful tree cover with an amazing view at the summit. Great if you need a quick cardio MB trail.

We hiked 10.3 miles of the 15 mile route east to west and loved every minute of it. The ascent is easier in this direction. The tree canopy covering the road is memorable and keeps it cooler during warm spells. Very beautiful.

This is no trail. This is a road. It has plenty of traffic, and young teens who like 2 smoke marijuana and drive fast. Be warned. please don't come here

The trail was good, rated as easy, but still enough to give your tires and shocks a workout. Road is some what paved to a point but plenty of dirt road to get your ride dirty. Some scenic spots to stop and take pictures. As of this review there is construction happening deep into the trail but there is a detour given however the trail is not a "thru road". The trail will end in a split one going to paso and the other to cambria beach, my advice go during the day possibly on the weekend.

Single lane most of the time with blind corners so be careful. Beautiful views and well worth the trip.

SLO bike club rides up to where the pavement becomes unpaved then we stop chat a while and go back to Vineyard Drive. This is when we go to the Merry Hill coffee shop for a break. Oh we ride about 25 to 30 miles before adding this out and back, It's shady and comfortable on those hot summer mornings.

What a surprise! Jumped off at the suggested trailhead, which provided plenty of parking! The first mile is a suburban paved walkway and unimproved shoulder walking. After crossing a short bridge, with no bike/walking lane :-( , the area turns into a beautiful mossy oak-lined rural road. Loved the hike, but it is simply a lightly trafficked road versus a traditional trail. There are areas where there is little to no shoulder access when cars approach. Would be ideal for cycling.

This is a great little North County gem. Repair to serene, rolling hills while enjoying a moderate '2nd ring' climb up the mostly shaded Santa Rita Rd canyon. This track describes the eastern half of Santa Rita Rd., accessed in the vicinity of Hwy 101 and Vineyard Dr. The summit is reached approximately 9 miles from Vineyard Dr., and from there you may turn around for the long coast back, or continue westbound, downhill to Old Creek Rd and Whale Rock Reservoir, Cayucos and the Pacific Ocean. There are numerous parking opportunities in the areas surrounding Santa Rita Rd and Vineyard Dr. We chose to utilize the park and ride near Trader Joes, but that was on a weekend. It may be unavailable during the week.
