Awesome climb up with amazing views and the climb is crazy hard but does get technical but is worth the ride down. Looking forward o doing it again.

Needs a little better marking.

Beautiful summit views that make it all worth it. However, don’t attempt if you have a stock SUV that cannot get extra lift. I was able to make it via my LR3 with the suspension raised in off-road mode. That said, I did have to build a few rock ramps to traverse a few large gaps and oversized rocks. Most of the trail is fine and expect a few scratches due to the pine trees in spots.

This was a really good trail over all. Not super hard like you need a rock crawler and not super easy like stock blows through it. It’s bumpy! Sensitive wives won’t like it lol but I really just enjoyed it

This hike as posted will require your GPS and all trail map to keep on the correct path as it isn’t marked well. The southern portion of the loop is very boggy and lots of insects. Not much in the way of views, more of a hike in the trees. Also, parking limited at the end of rawhide street and not sure it is legal anyway.

Beautiful hike! We hiked it on Dec 30 2017 but only did an out and back on the southern leg that follows the Truckee River (since the snow pack was deeper in the north side of the loop). It was a mild ascent for about 5 miles to the top, but don’t let that sway you the views and the trail make it worth it. Would totally recommend this hike.

Okay, let me first say, you CANNOT take your standard SUV on this trail. This was my first try at this trail and it’s a bit more than expected. There are a few areas, that I needed to overcome because of the size of my truck and the obstacles. There are areas with large boulders and trees. It is steep! One small mistake and you could damage your truck. Experienced people will find this trail easy. People whom are just getting into the sport will find this hard. If this is your first time on this trail, you will wonder when and how it will end, don’t turn back. Keep going up! When you reach the top of the hill there are two roads, turn LEFT it will take you back to the main road you first started. There is no cell service until you hit the main road. Good luck, stay safe and have fun!

Great trail, but the loop is not well marked. Printed map showed cross trails that are no longer visible. TRT markers are infrequent. Some nice vantage points and outcrops with views of the lake and river. Mosquitos in some locations. Looks like it is mostly used for technical mountain biking.

Great hike. A lot of incline and rock beds but great views and exercise.

Entered at the northern part. Made it about 1/4 of the trail and need more than a stock rubicon. Lift or winch or both at one point that you start to climb a rock face. Pretty fun. Will try the south entrance next time. Looks like less major elevation changes. More gradual. If you have a daily driver like mine. This trail is fine. Just have to be careful

Excellent short mountain bike loop with some good speed sections.

Not much to this trail. You do go through some nice meadows and a couple aspen groves. Not much elevation difference along the trail. I would definitely rate this an easy hike. The trail was well defined and not difficult to navigate. Enjoy.

This is a great easy dog friendly loop trail. Nice dirt trail (easy on dogs feet). Nice picnic stops by water. In fall, the leaves are beautiful!

Rode part of the trail on Sunday. Before your arrived at the wall you will cross the TRT. Take a left on the TRT and get ready for some very technical single track. Lots of rock gardens. Some climbing up to about 1750 feet. Left TRT just above Tahoe City and rode down on very steep very loose fire road. Awesome ride. I would rate the TRT portion of this ride as moderate to difficult.

This is an awesome ride. Includes fire roads, some paved areas and plenty of single track. The trail was muddy due to recent rain which made it a bit ore challenging on the descents and rock gardens.
