Awesome hike! Nice wind caves. Wish there was more to hike.

We hiked from Rodeo Beach to Muir Beach. This trail is definitely recommended for people who enjoy ocean views while getting some kick ass workout. It’s a hard hike but it feels wonderful afterward. Lots of going up and down interval along the trail.

I grew up in this area and I feel shocked by how beautiful it is Everytime I walk this trail

Great views. Windy in April-June. Sunsets are the best in the city. I fish here often as well.

This was an amazing hike! I definitely agree with the hard rating. My husband and I hiked the route starting at Rodeo Beach up to Muir Beach. Lots of Beach scenery and lots and lots of hills, including two very steep hills! We packed a lunch for the halfway point and ate before we returned. We also too 3 liter camelbacks of water each and pretty much killed it off. Layers of clothing is a must as well. The Beach is cool while part of the hike that is away from the beach is warmer, plus it heats up in the afternoon. I would definitely do this hike again!

Beautiful and if you get there early with less people, even better!

Loved this hike! It turned into an out and back due to high surf, there was no way to walk along the beach. Views were amazing even with overcast skies. Beautiful place to see the sunset!

it was fun!

Comes up in a neighborhood. Tar road for the bottom part of this trail. Steep, but easy.

There's something that gets me about this walk. Whether it be nostalgia or the people or the views, I always come back to think of this walk. A truly iconic walk if you have never made it from Santa Monica to Venice beach. There's always something new to see and each experience is different from the last. I could spend a whole day and not be able to finish all that this legendary beach strip has to offer. It only leaves me wanting to come back

Steep little jog from beach to the road makes for a nice quick leg workout. At sunset the rabbits can be seen along the path and there's a cool little beach at the bottom.

Don’t freak out about going up the road where all the forbidding Air Force signs are :) It’s literally 15 feet, then you’re on the trail off to the right. Decent signage along the way, minimal elevation change, easy and beautiful hike along the cliffs! Not crowded at all on the trail but the parking lot was full because of beach goers.

Somewhat crowded, beautiful none the less.

Hiked this on Memorial Day - wow did we luck out with weather! Clearest day I've ever had on these trails. Great hike and the elevation is broken up across a few big hills throughout so it doesn't feel so bad. Be careful about sun protection and water as there is no shade at all on this trail. Also the part by Tennessee Valley is very overgrown with lots of poison oak so wear pants or be prepared to scrub your legs well after the hike. Worth the workout and the views!

We went yesterday 5/29/18 and it wasn’t a hike. Just a walk by the beach. The view was super nice and very relaxing. We would have loved to sit down and watch the beach but a couple had their dog off the leash and the dog was barking and trying to run towards us. Not very relaxing at all. You must keep your dogs in their leash, it says on the sign. Don’t mess it up for other people. We did trail 1 and once you walk down to the beach you could really only walk left. And if you keep walking down you hit big dinosaur rocks and the water hits them. So the water ends up to your waist. Other than that it’s the perfect beach for relaxing and watching the waves. Perfect for a picnic. $15 fee not worth it if your wanting to hike. But worth it if your planning to get in the water and relax and stuff.

Not quite a hike, but not quite a walk, either, with the sand. But kid friendly and do-able by almost everyone if you take your time. Great views of Santa Monica Bay, Zuma Beach, and the Santa Monica Mountains. Right up there with Torrey Pines as one of my favorite beach walks.

Lovely stretch of beach with a few tide pools.
Can’t get to Solana Beach with Dogs. There are roving rangers that will stop you.

Nice beach walk. Beautiful wildflowers. Not too windy. The beach just by the trail head was very crowded but thinned out quickly as we walked along.

Hiked this in April. Beautiful coast line, generally an up-and-down trail so no long continuous climbs but still a good trek.

It’s one of my favorite places in the world. It’s not a hard hike at all. It can be very busy on the weekends and holidays. There are rattlesnakes in the area so be mindful

Not a hike, but it is an enjoyable walk. Easy to do if you want to do a quick, simple trail and don't have time or something in the Santa Monica Mountains

Can’t beat the scenery.

Easy walk ocean setting

If you start in Santa Monica be sure to finish in Venice you won't regret it. This is a must see for anyone in L.A. especially if it's their first time in the area.

First place I went after I made it into San Diego and it did not disappoint. Watched the mist clear and the sunrise into a beautiful sunny day. I'd recommend it to anyone. The seals were my absolute favorite part!

Gorgeous trail with a very scenic overlook. Not hard at all. Warning: the park doesn't open until 7 AM and the rangers are strict about it.
