Amazing views all around, watch your step, & keep your kids away from the mountain edge, lots of slippery loose rocks. Parking is sheer luck if you get one. So much beauty here, enjoy!

Great trail for families. Kids loved climbing the rocks. Beautiful views.

5 stars for beautiful family trail but had to only give 3 because waaaay too crowded

Beautiful lake, fairly easy hike. The falls were dry so not much to see. Pleasant place to stop for lunch.

Pay attention to the trail on the app - easy to get on the wrong road. We went late October and unfortunately missed the leaves.

Great hike and lunch spot at lake.

Absolute treasure for the under 5 crowd. Beautiful fall colors. Easy to traverse, for all ages.
Great day hike sight

The lake is breathtaking! The only caveat was that the hike is short but you can add on, and the crowds.

Competed on 10/20, The fall colors in the meadow were pretty. However, the trail is less of a trail and more of a dirt road with some vehicle traffic. If you have an appropriate vehicle you should just drive down. Overall, it was a mellow stroll

Prettythe whole way up and down with great views at the lake

While there are no guarantees that you'll see bears, this is the one trail in my life where I have seen more bears than any other place.
Every October people flock here to see the salmon run, with hundreds of fish in certain spots, and the potential to see black bears enjoying their autumn buffet.
We came on October 13th this year, but were a little dissappointed there were few fish. It is usually the middle of October. Maybe we were too early.
Either way, this is a fun family activity, with the trail to Baldwin and Kiva Beaches, along with the rainbow loop seeing the cool autumn sun shining through the yellow aspens.
This year, the aquarium was closed for construction.
The trail is easy, and can fit handicapped walkers, along with elderly and young children.
Beware of the crowds.

Overall, a must-do activity if you're in South Lake Tahoe.

My first hike EVER! It was tumultuous for me as an amateur but I pressed in and got to the beautiful Eagle Lake and it was totally worth it!!

It’s really awful trail. We were walking on ground road, every 5 minutes cars drove near us and we have eaten a dust.

Pretty and relaxing walk!
Easy to access trail, lots and lots of parking.
You can access the beach at many different places.
The trail itself just goes along the right bank of the river it doesn’t cross back and forth like the map shows.
Dog friendly!

This was an amazing trail. It's a great deep dive into Desolation with visits to multiple lakes and sweeping views, despite not including scaling a peak. Each leg of the trail is more spectacular than the last, and it's gorgeous from the start. The view of Lake Aloha from the top of Mosquito pass is stunning. There's still plenty of water in parts of Aloha despite it being so late in the season. I'm looking forward to doing this one again early next summer.

Lovely trail on Sunday Sept 30. Perfect fall temps. Aspen and low growth are turning yellow. Me and my friend ran up to Round lake then back down to turn off to Dardanelles. The grade is a nice easy climb totally runnable up and down. A little rocky in some places but can really cruise. Took us about 3 hours to do a little over 12 miles and 1900 feet of climbing. Both lakes are gems. Just beautiful.

A cavalcade of expertly placed stone steps that traverse several promontories with views across Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe. Trail leads to perfect alpine gem Eagle Lake. Cold but easily swimmable in late September. Moderate difficulty, short enough for families. Bring water. Highly recommended.

nice hike with great views of Lake Tahoe with a pretty little Lake as the reward.

I did this hike for my birthday in August. A bit challenging, especially the stone stairs past Upper Eagle falls, but very worth it! To date, this was my favorite hike. I suffer from chronic pain and this hike was a goal of mine and I completed it with just a few resting points. Amazing views!!

This is a challenging trail. Spend time on a good stair climber if you’re over 50.

Short, sweet, and easy, but absolutely gorgeous. Haven't done this in a very long time, but miss it terribly.

Awesome and easy hike! Views are breath taking. I suggest getting there (if going on the weekends) early in the am between 8-9 am. You’ll beat the rush as anything past 10 am you can forget about finding a parking spot.

first 1/4 all stairs so that part is tough but it's an amazing trail the views are spectacular

Amazing views along the entire trail but once you reach the lake it is really something else. Worth every step.

Beautiful day. Less people there; school kids are ‘in’. Perfect weather.
