We went 10 strong on this run. We all made it fine with helping in spotting locations for people not 100% sure of the line they want to take. Overall I would recommend having a lift, big tires and rails if you want protection. Trail is on the more challenging side but I wouldn’t say it’s hard. Definitely some spots to keep an eye on. Make sure to stay left at the first fork. This first fork marks the end of the challenging section.

This trail has some good climbs. But most of Trail was a graveled road but still a good hike. There were a number of peeps were there hiking/rock climbing. No bugs but pretty Smokey from Capels fire

Nice trail with good view of Frog Lake and the surrounding mountain range. There was patches of snow and ice on the trail (10/5), I was able to hike in my trail runners tho.

Great trail, too close to the freeway. I’m still a big fan though! My boys great great great grandfather carved a tree there in 1902.

went kinda late in a day, finished 6.5mi and returned back to eagles lake Rd. first water crossing was shallow.

Beautiful trail . Nice mix of shade and a little sun here and there. Great dog trail. Fairly easy hike with a little incline here and there. The lake is absolutely beautiful. We were almost by ourselves today. A little chilly here and there, but the sun warmed you up .

Hiked up and back with the Husband today. Definitely bring a vehicle that can go offroad because you can cut out about 2 miles of the hike by driving up from the trailhead. DEFINITELY need hiking shoes. My Husband was slipping down some parts of the trail in running shoes. Hiking poles are also strongly recommended. Hardest part of the hike for me was the altitude going uphill (and I live here!) but I'm in below average physical shape. Going down was fine. My Husband said the hardest part for him was going downhill because it was so steep. Go on a cool day or go early because theres little to no shade. Amazing views through the whole trail and definitely worth the hike! No mosquitos.

Great day hike! We started later in the day where the wind picked up at the top but also fewer people made it a bonus!

I'd reccomend starting early. beautiful views!!

Pretty good trail with a nice fishing/swimming spot up top. If you happen to find a YNP Nalgene bottle on the trail, keep it. It fell out of my pack and we couldn't find it.

One of the best views around! Hopefully, Frog Lake will be open to the public in 2020. We loved this hike.

Sunday, September 8. Early 9am start. 57 degrees. Perfect day for a hike. This one was easy and just ok. A lot of the walk is on a service road. Lakes are fabulous. No mosquitoes today.

Trail to Lower Lola Montez well marked and lake is beautiful.. HIke to upper has some very steep and rocky sections, but most is not hard. The trail is marked by stone piles, very helpful to find the best route to the top. Upper lake a little smaller, but just as beautiful. All along the wildflowers were still in bloom.

Just did it in my 5th gen 4Runner and the beginning was a little scary for my novice self. There are several sections where there are pretty large rocks where I’d say a stock vehicle would undergo lots of scraping of the underbody. I have a 2.5” lift, rock sliders, and skid plates and used them all. Only 32” stock sized tires though. Once you get to the top, the second half down is mostly just dirt road. Also, around where the first “note” is, where it said bear right and go up the rocky section, I went up a steep mostly dirt road and then it appeared to be a dead end. I must have gotten turned around. Apparently if you wanted to go up a challenging route, where it is steep and there are small loose rocks, there was a branch in the road around there, but I didn’t take that turn.

Great trail! the last 1.5 mile before turning around is rocky and the trail is a little hard to follow since ther are lots of other trail all really leading to the same place but it can be a little confusing. I would recommend boots that protects the ankle and gaiters to keep rocks and dirt from the inside of shoes. There is no water so bring plenty.

The lakes aren’t the most scenic. Flora lake was the best and the others were more like ponds. The trail was hard to follow in many spots but using this app I was able to get back on it rather quickly. Nice hike, not too challenging.

Road getting here is a rough one in vehicle. Hike is amazing. Amazing views. So many lakes

I'll come back to this hike in the winter for a little snow shoe action. Cool little place! Short for a hike.

I noticed that no one had posted a complete set of tracks for this trail. Looks like nobody has completed this trail. This was a great hike for late August. It was still green with lots of wild flowers and great views. Several colorful meadows and wildlife to be seen. Ive also included a few pictures of the lake and trail. I was going to rate this trail with 4 stars because of the 4X4 road that you take to the lake. The road was not bad and the lake was not populated by many people. I decided to trek down to the water and made my own camp area next to the lake. Great hike!

+Loved the water, cool and clean. Into the great wide open under a sky of blue. Nary a soul around went midweek. - a good portion of the trail was on a fire road

I don't know why this trail is rated 'hard'. It's pretty moderate. The culvert under I-80 west bound has some water in it which you'll have to step through. About 65 to 70% of this trail is exposed with no shade. The views from the cliff overlooking frog lake are nice. Two hours up and an hour and a half back. I met a total of 4 hikers.
