I did this trail as a group event with 6 other Jeeps. Some were fairly stock, as in no lift, others with up to 4 inches of lift. Driver skill ranged for this being their first time to several years of wheeling. We went up the trail on the Eagle Lake side. There were a few areas where spotters were needed, but all in all this wasn't a difficult trail. I would honestly say that it is a moderate trail. The first time drivers made it though with no problems.

We went while there was still snow in May. This was a beautiful hike even though I didn’t see any wildflowers. There was a huge river running down blocking the other side of the trail about 2 miles in. Fantastic hike!!!!

App keeps closing on me, the activity is snowshoeing, I went in shoes that vented and my socks were wet. There is still a lot of snow up there. There are trails on the snow made by snow motor vehicle that you can't really miss. It's really peaceful and beautiful up on the peak where you can see mountain ranges in 360°. It was cloudy so it for chilly for me. Would definitely go again when the snow melts!

Beautiful full moon in the valley last night. Glad we wore snowshoes. Trail is poorly marked. Snow made this a moderate out with elevation change but easy in.

Hiked up the peak yesterday. The snow was well packed, needed snowshoes only on our way back. Great hike and wonderful views!

Nice hike on a packed snow trail. Went to the ridge for nice views of Castle Rock, wasn't clear if the full loop would go thru, given the snow, which was light for the time of year. We did it in hiking boots without problems, but most were using snowshoes or back country skis.

Had a great sunny day today. Snowshoes the entire trip. I will be doing this again.

Great hike, dogs loved it. Views we’re stellar! Snow was perfect for snowshoeing.

First part of the trail was packed down and snow shoes weren’t even necessary, but when I turned off to head across the valley it was completely untracked! Follow the blue diamonds to stay on the trail. FYI there were a couple tricky stream crossings with steep snow banks

Super fun in snow! Went snow shoeing with my best friend today, and it was a beautiful view up at the top! Not too difficult, the steepness is pretty gradual until the end. Would love to see it in the springtime.

Amazing hike. Pack warm, waterproof hiking shoes and trekking poles

Do this hike in the summer then come back and do it in the winter, it’s so amazing to see the change in the terrain. Such an amazing hike I recommend it to everyone

Also went parallel with the plan to catch the actual trail on the way down, but couldn’t get to the Peak with the snow. Snowshoes helped but in certain areas, especially getting up to the Peak, yaktrax or some kind of spikes would be most helpful. The views from the Ridge were amazing none the less.

Snoweshoed up to the peak on 1/11/18. We didn’t travel on this trail directly, instead we went parallel to it and then came back on the opposite side, making it a loop. Most of the trail was pretty easy with snowshoes, with the exception of the top, where you really had to dig your crampons in to get yourself up the final stretch. The top was stunning and we even watched a snowing cloud moving in towards us. The effort was worth it!

Next time I'll wait for spring or summer to do the full loop.

Castle peak cut short to one of the false summits. 1-2ft snow up past the pass. Skis/snowshoes needed after about 1.5 miles in.

This trail should be split into 2 sections. The eagles lakes side, and the Cisco side. The Cisco side is a breeze. Not difficult at all and very scenic. Stock 4x4 no problems. The eagle lakes side on the other hand. Trail is very narrow, expect scratching your rig up. Have big wheels and armor underneath or you’ll regret it. The trail is steep and jagged. Managed to do it in a 4x4 Tacoma with 3inch lift, stock tires, but wouldn’t do it again until I was sitting on at least 35s and some better armor underneath.

Lots or snow and pretty tough incline to the summit. But great views!

Breathtaking in both senses. Very well worth the time and energy. I may have taken a hundred photos along this trail. Although I approached Castle Pass from the rest area.

Great workout and amazing views but a bit slippery.

Spectacular views. Very interesting tree formations just at the timberline -- they are working hard against the downslope drift it appears.

Great loop. Best view of Castle Mountain ever!

Great for a quick get away, saw a few mountain bikers and only 1 other couple hiking. Beautiful views at the lake!

Wonderful hike with views 360 degrees
Terrain was rocky and scree in places was slippery but worth the effort

One of my favorite trails❣️

Wonderful trail, please stay on he trail. Be sure to make for an earily accent to avoid possible afternoon weather, able to get to summit, it is the last turret!

Fun trail for a beginner like me. My first off-roading trip. The view from the top is beautiful. Worth the drive up there. Was able to use 4H right before reaching the peak then switched to 4L. Didn't use my lockers at all. As you get closer to the top, it gets steeper. The road is narrow but still wide enough for my jeep. Going down seems more scary than going up. I think just because I cannot see my line on passenger side. But I can gauge how wide my jeep is so it was ok. Set my jeep on 4L 1st gear and took my foot of the brake then headed down the steep downhill. The jeep did its thing.
