nice hike through the forest. took out a star because no view points. I went counter-clockwise and going up was a workout.

HikingClosedNo shadeOff trail

Portion of trail is closed. Lots of one ways. I’d say 1/2 of the hike is without shade/tree coverage. Beautiful views though. I definitely prefer this area during the winter/spring months because the moss makes it so beautiful.

Hiking

There's a sharp uphill hike in the beginning. Once you pass that, it's combination of mild uphill and downhill. In few areas, the trail passes through neighborhood and crosses the streets. At the vista point (Nob Hill), there are trails that go to Masie's Peak and can connect you to Steven's Canyon trail.

Lots of bicyclists. At least 3 out of 5 miles in this loop have no shade. The best views are seen in the first half mile. Rest of it is generic south bay trail with lots of brown lizards.

I’ll be honest, it the best beginners bike trail I was dead halfway up lol if you’re a beginner definitely start somewhere else, or be ready for a butt kickin

It was not too crowded. Almost all hikers had masks and kept their distance. Narrow paths made it a bit hard, as they were not designated to be one way. Shaded, cool hike, despite the hot weather.

Slightly confusing to find start of trail - need to follow nature trail to get to start of San Andreas trail. Lots of shade surrounded by redwoods.

Quite a nice walk today, mostly shady, the incline up was a good workout amidst the redwoods. Hardly saw anyone once we started the ascent, easy to social distance except the start and end.

HikingBugsOver grown

Nice shady hike, parts of it were pretty over grown and I must’ve been the first hiker of the day bc I walked through probably hundreds of spider webs which wasn’t ideal haha. A couple sections also had lots of bugs that liked to swarm around me, but wasn’t too bad during most of the hike.

One way trails start at the Castle Rock parking lot. We went to the falls then backtracked and went on the castle rock loop, for a total of 4.6 miles. My kids enjoyed the little stream and big rock across the way at Sanborn (they could actually climb that one.)

this trail is a good shaded walk, however the noise from the nearby road is constant.

We hiked from Big Basin Redwood State Park headquarter to Waddell Beach, it took us 5 hours, the first was a little rough, after Berry Creek waterfall, the road is all flat, very pleasant trip.

The first 5 miles were great. I didn’t realize that part of the “trail” is a paved road. Not very trail-like.

Great trail with lots of shade and nice elevation climb to get the blood flowing. Not a leisurely walk as there is a fair amount of climb on this trail. Love the trails although they do get right along the way, but felt very woodsie. Not much for views along the way, but not necessary when you just get to see the beauty of nature and the redwoods. Good amount of parking and nice facilities to use at the beginning of the hike. Do friendly although some trails are marked no dogs. Fair number of bugs so have your bug spray ready and they won’t bother you.

Great hike, it is a good combination of open space and shades, also lots of uphills and downhills. Not very crowded and moderately trafficked in the morning. Sometimes the trail is not wide enough for social distancing though.

BEAUTIFUL. Take it in reverse from the suggested trail so that you can descend to views of the Bay.

Beautiful! Shaded, which is appreciated because of the steep climb. Limited views, but overall a lovely home hike.

Thursday July 2nd 2020, COVID Not too many people in the trails. Beautiful views, flowers, and tree canopies. Lots of parking for free and open grass to picnic. I could see this as packed on the wknds. Windy road to get here from 85.
